Getting that beach breeze, toes in the sand with beer in hand doesn’t get better then this

The Carousel Beach Bar at the Springfield Inn is not bad; better at night. There’s a mixed crowd of all drinking ages and races(despite what a previous reviewer wrote). We had a mixed group and had no problems. The food is pretty typical bar food and I would not eat there again. The drinks are priced well. We enjoyed $ 5 red bull and vodkas all night

Totally go if you’re white. But don’t go if you’re not. Told me they only had Absolut vodka but the white girls next to me got a choice of vodka. Bouncers didn’t want to let me in, despite being 32 with a legit id. Let me in bc i was with my white bf. Not that fair.

I’ve done summers is Sea Isle for many years so, despite my best efforts to avoid it, we do come here sometimes. Some people on here are complaining about the cleaniness of the place, but almost all Sea Isle bars are dirty. Regarding the food, who knows, again, think of it as a bar. The prices are on par with the rest of Sea Isle. So why am I giving this a 1 star? THESTAFF(and by extension, the management/owners.) In my experience, when you have an entire staff of people that are rude and arrogant, it’s because the owner/manager is. I can only guess that whoever owns this today has had it handed to them, or it has a rich owner who uses it as a play toy. No entrepreneur that has most of his skin in the game would tolerate this kind of behavior from the staff, who are openly rude and adversarial with the patrons(at least the younger patrons, which is probably 80% of their business.) There are plenty of other bars in Sea Isle, save yourself the headache and potential incident and go somewhere else.

I like the idea of this place, that’s just about the most positive thing I can say. When Sandy hit my group of friends, who own in Sea Isle, actually hoped the sea water would wash out the bathrooms so that the owners could maintain a certain standard on which all facilities should be measured. But it seems that nothing Mother Nature can throw at the Carousel can do that. Ok, so, overpriced drinks, crappy food, and miserable help. Twice I was given the wrong change when I went up for beers to the mobile cart. They shorted me 10 bucks even, TWICE. Both times I went back for it, there was no argument. The bands are nice; the patrons typically are very intense, thinking they are more important than they are. I used to think it was cool that they let little kids in, but then I realized that a lot of parents think their kids are cuter and better behaved than they actually are. So this is a disaster waiting to happen. Stumbling parents with toddlers is awesome, especially when the kids knock over your drink and the parents don’t offer to replace it. My Uncle is a pacifist and got in a heated argument with a bouncer almost to the point of a physical altercation. He was sober, my uncle, not the bouncer. I couldn’t speak for the bouncer’s mental status or level of sobriety, either way, sober or not, that kid wanted to hurt someone. It was over nothing but the bouncer had to be right, clearly he was wrong. The Springfield and Carousel need to work on their overall management style, customer service and capital improvements, but as long as people are willing to pay high prices for poorly made drinks they will thrive. I really won’t go here anymore unless I am meeting a large group of friends. I’d rather drop more cash at Henri’s, down the street, and know what I am getting for my money. My rule of thumb: I only frequent places where the staff and management make an effort to know the difference between a potentially excellent long term customer and just another drunken partier visiting for the weekend. This may seem elitist, it is not meant to, I am just saying that I work hard for my money and the older I get, the less likely I am to patronize establishments that clearly have priorities that do not align with mine.

Came down to SIC for the day. Went to Springfield Inn because it looked like a nice outdoor spot for drinks and lunch. Staff was incredibly rude from the 3 teenage«bouncers» to the bartender who didn’t describe any specials or seem interested in serving us at all. Cash only bar which is also inconvenient. Server did not come over to us during the 20 minutes we debated on staying. The only good part of Springfield Inn is the location and the DJ. Sticking with the OD!

Went for my first Saturday night experience. It was a slightly older crowd and a little bit empty until the band came on. Rad and kell(the band) were awesome though and really brought a younger vibe to the night. I really like the inside/outside combo that they have going on. Caution: cash only and expensive beverages which unfortunately is expected of most shore town establishments!

Love the vibe! Juliano brothers my fave! Great happy hour place. But for the love of god do something with the bathrooms! No soap! Disgusting! Heath hazard??? You think?

I liked this for a beach bar — lots of seating, it gets crowded later so get there early if you want to sit — strawberry margarita wasn’t overly sweet, but over priced — live music, loud if your under the deck — quick service and modified my meal for my gluten free-ness — CASHONLY… important to know(ATM is available though) — Loaded tater tots looked dangerously delicious — burger patty was smaller than I expected

Visited on a weekday and very impressed with the place! For being right along the beach, you can not only get $ 2.50 Landsharks, but also a $ 5 appetizer basket(2 each of 3 different appetizers) anywhere in the bar(inside or out). For a weekday they had good live«local known» music(Juliano Brothers) with no cover! You can’t beat it! Like the other reviewers said, you won’t find anything spectacular here. Grimy floors, leaky roof… hey there is a reason they keep the lights down low! Bar service was average and for two people spent $ 40 and had a decent time!

Ah, the Springfield. Not my favorite shore bar but always worth a visit or two each summer. Usually at the(cash-only) outdoor Carousel bar. Drinks aren’t cheap and mixed drinks are weak as hell — stick with beer.

Almost a guilty pleasure. Its worth going to once or twice but that’s about it. I’d say its the closet to a real club in the area. pretty much your standard bar and club. Lots of horny people, booze and music. Nothing really much more to say about it. Bottom line; If you’re in your 20’s or 30’s and single, this may be a place for you to find some«company».

I came here on a weekday afternoon for lunch so I may not be rating the same place that people experience when they come at night. The beers are absurdly overpriced considering it’s this little place by the beach. There was a live band though, and I liked what they were playing. If I come back, I’ll probably try a different place for lunch.

How can you NOT like the Springfield? This is hands down the best bar in Sea Isle. The OD is fun, don’t get me wrong, I love the OD too, but the Springfield is THE best place in SIC. The dance floor is always fun, the place is big enough so you can breathe, and you can easily access any of the bars. I can’t say all of those things apply to the OD. The people here are also very entertaining. You’ll see the La Costa girls all dressed up in their heels, the people who stayed at No Shower till midnight then ended up at the Springfield, cougars, locals, Brits, Irishmen, it’s fun for everyone! I love this place!

PROS: Can be a good time here. Some good bands. Hot women. CONS: Sometimes WAAAAAAAY too crowded. To the point of a riot or stampede and it’s no fun. Overpriced drinks and high cover charges.

A staple in Sea Isle, I find this place overpriced and full of people that take themselves too seriously. I guess when most people are willing to pay $ 5 for a macro bottle and a cover charge every time you step outside you can continue to implore these tactics. It is a pretty good people watching spot and the outside bar does go right up to the boardwalk so it can be fun every once in a while. Come and experience it yourself but don’t do it everyday!

I can’t decide whether to give this place 1 or 5 stars, so I’m sticking with 3. Yeah, it really varies depending on when you go, and what part of the bar you are hitting, the crowd vibe and the staff. The best part used to be the small outdoor area along the boardwalk. It’s sandy, has a bunch of tables and chairs, and a standing height long table made from a polished surfboard. They typically have live acoustic music from like 4−8pm. There is one round outdoor bar, with 2 bartenders, to serve you, and the music volume is just right. Unfortunately, it’s gone a bit downhill the last few years. There used to be an amazing duo on weekends that played the best tunes on their acoustic guitars(Jan and Jammer I think they were called). Those 2 stopped playing a few seasons ago, and the talent hasn’t really been up to snuff since. Plus, they took away the tiki theme and the live palm trees. It’s a bit dumpy without the minimal tropical accoutrements! The beer selection is pretty bad too. Still, it’s a chill vibe and definitely worth checking out. Not a great place to meet people, but really good to hang out with your friends/family(yes, you’ll even see little kids here). You can go straight from a day at the beach and not worry about what you are wearing or what you look like. Inside… well, it’s kind of like going to the zoo… lots to look at, just don’t get too close. Sure, plenty of «normal» folks, but you also get the best of the NJ shore stereotype. Big hair, douchebags in brown flip flops and popped collars, gum-smacking mall chicks, cougars, sugar daddies, meat-heads, the«no-that’s-really-not-a-tan-line on my ring finger 40somethings,» you know, a little of everything. It’s quite a scene and interesting people watching. Unfortunately, despite its cavernous size, it gets so damn crowded and unbearably loud that the fun wears off after a while. It’s also REALLY cold inside. I know it’s weird to complain about the cold during the summer, but it’s FREEZING in some parts of the bar, especially if you are in shorts and a tee, and the crowd hasn’t quite built up yet. They also have this alternating live band thing. When the band on stage goes off, the band(in the middle of the bar!!) starts to play. Sometimes they overlap and pick up where one band leaves off… that’s pretty cool. One of the bands I saw has 3 incredibly overweight guys that you think seriously might die right on stage. They are amazing and do a ton of Bruce and classic rock, but man, I really hope they have good cardiologists. Not really sure who the Springfield is catering to, but based on the crowd, they must be doing something right. I’ll go again next year and update my rating.

This place is awesome, and by awesome I mean there are no sweaty OD meat heads that dance up on everyone and look for fights. Or underage teeny boppers that dont know how to behave in bars like La Costa or Shenanigans… The Carousel is legendary, nowhere else in Sea Isle can you(legally) watch the island run with some adult beverages, or even drink on the beach for that matter! SUNDAYNIGHTSWITHLECOMPTRULEEEEEEE!!!
