If you like authentic Mexican food without all the gravies and cheeses this is the place for you! Food is phenomenal! Everything is fresh made to order and the tacos are some, if not the best I have eaten! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good authentic Mexican food! I eagerly look forward to taco Tuesday!

What a pleasure. You know that you have found a keeper when when the people are enjoyable, the food is unique and delicious and the prices are fair.

This place is delicious! We got take out and tried their chicken and steak tacos… they were full of flavor! Their salsa is fresh and tasty and their chips have a nice seasoning on them. Everything was great, can’t wait to go back!

Authentic Yucatan tacos and tamales. Nothing like the Tex-Mex or northern Mexican food you’re used to. Mario did a excellent job of walking us through the menu. I tried six tacos and they were all tasty. The pulled pork was my favorite and the fish taco was my second favorite. The place also has excellent beans complimentary while you wait on your order. The aguas frescas were yummy; the Jamaica was good but the horchata – smooth, creamy, and not too sweet– was one of the best I’ve tasted.

Some of the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food that I’ve had in Texas thus far. Everything is made from scratch, they utilize the freshest ingredients, and they use traditional methods of cooking their highly coveted dishes. No processed meats, American cheese, and bland seasoning that is a hallmark of the infamous Tex Mex cuisine. Their dishes are consistent. They are meticulous and pay attention to detail when it comes to the preparation of meals. The love and care can be tasted in every mouthful. Not to mention, their heritage. You make your people proud with the authenticity of your food.

Excellent! We decided to try something new for breakfast and came across this place on Unilocal. We ordered the«Motulenos» and the«Yucateggas». The were great! The pulled pork in the Yucateggas is awesome. Worth the drive for sure! Can’t wait to try lunch on our next stop. Btw, watch the Habanero’s salsa. It’s legit!!!

I am literally writing this from the restaurant. This place is very, very good. I just consumed three tacos that were awesome. I can’t even tell you the names of them, as I just trusted what the owner recommended, but there were outstanding. The beans are fantastic(and free), and the tamale was as well. Be careful as the habanero salsa will blow a hole in your gut while burning your lips and tongue. Very good stuff but not for the inner-pansy. The other salsas were great as well. This is a place meant for the locals. I’ll surely come back.

I could give this place a 4.5 stars score on service alone. They’re very welcoming and really clean. They do deserve the 5 stars though, because of their food. It was delicious! And I loved the fact that they even have a «Frijoles Charros» pot by the Coke machine, and you can help yourself to a nice treat. I’d definitely come back!

WOW, absolutely fantastic! Very small place in a very unassuming strip mall. Brightly decorated and very clean. As many of the reviews stated extemely friendly staff and very helpful. Come hungry they don’t hold back. Seeing some other reviews I went with tacos plate, although they had a special, Yucatan Pork Chops which looked amazing. I went with the pulled pork, Barbacoa and poc-chuc(Mayan pork). All were fantastic. And the charro beans that come free are the best I’ve had. No complaints at all, I will be going back to explore the rest of the menu.

After just one visit to Habanero’s Tacos, it ranks among some of the best south of the border cuisine I’ve eaten.(Notice I didn’t say ‘Mexican?’ More on that in a sec.) This self-described dive anchors a small strip mall behind the golden arches on Texas 146. You can see the signage from the highway. The interior is small and brightly colored, as one might expect from a place called Habanero’s. There’s nothing fancy about it, but it’s clean and comfortable. Order at the counter and go have a seat. That said, the service here is as good as the food. When I approached the counter on my visit, I told the gentleman(presumably the owner or manager) that I was a first-timer. He immediately thanked me for stopping in and made sure I knew that Habanero’s Tacos is neither Mexican nor Tex-Mex. Rather, he told me it was Caribbean-Mexican. For those not familiar with Caribbean cuisine, they make a lot of use of root vegetables and fruits. Not to mention, habanero chiles. I’m familiar with both cuisines and I can assure you that they pull off the fusion nicely. But what’s really important here is that the gentleman made menu suggestions to me and even prevented me from ordering a side of chips and salsa. ‘Look, the taco plate in itself is a lot of food,’ he warned me.(I’d also ordered a Yucatan tamale.) You simply don’t get personable service like this at 99.9 percent of the restaurants in the world. Impressive indeed. For my taco plate, I chose pastor(pork), barbacoa(beef) and poc-chuck(Mayan pork). Honestly, these were reminiscent of the classic Mexican versions(poc-chuc is popular in the Yucatan region). The adornments of cilantro, onions and pico de gallo were also classic Mexican, although there were some pineapple chunks placed atop one of the tacos. Either way, they were divine — nicely seasoned and melt in your mouth. The barbacoa is made from beef cheek, which is like butter. The Yucatan tamale consists of seasoned chicken encased in black-eyed pea-dotted masa. It’s served atop a banana leaf in a pool of tomato based salsa. It’s mild with a nice masa-to-meat ratio. The beans and rice are fine, but I was too involved with the mains to worry about the sides.(So glad the gentleman talked me out of the chips and salsa!) Finally, no matter what you order, the hosts bring you a trio of hot sauces. Mild. Medium. And the(super) Hot Habanero. All three were delicious and complemented the food very nicely. The bottom line: Habanero’s Tacos is a jewel. The service is outstanding and the food really is all that. If you go, and you really should, bring an appetite.

This place is a hidden gem! We found this place by accident and feel so lucky to have! The food was delish and the service was exceptional! The Merida plate came with a carnita taco, tamale, & chicken chalupa alongside rice&beans. Talk about perfection! The chips and salsa were authentic and fresh! Also they have complimentary frijoles ala charra that used to be in all Mexican restaurants but now so rare to find! The employee made it clear to us that this was not the traditional Tex-Mex food. It was Caribbean Mexican and we loved it! Absolutely blew us away! I recommend this to everyone! Also we sat outside on a fresh day. The tables were picnic tables stained, sealed, & had a big habanero pepper on them! Super cute & nifty design! Can not wait to go back! Also prices were reasonable & affordable. A plus all around!

I just had a great experience at Habanero’s! I went with a group of people who are all strict vegetarians so we probed the owner/employee with nitpicky ingredient questions and made various modifications to our order. They were very accommodating, and even brought out separate vegetarian charro beans for us(they give free charro beans to all their customers)! We got avocado on errrrything and it was great. Delicious food + friendly top-notch service = 5 stars.

Tried out this place after being referred. All I have to say it is very good, delicious, and tasty! Personally coming from CA, I feel as if it’s a different type of Mexican food, but it s probably one of my favorites now! I have been there twice already and I will continue to go there! The staff is wonderful and very welcoming!

The back kitchen was full of staff and it still took over 30 min for 4 tiny tacos. Didn’t like the tacos, The quality or the price. However the staff is friendly

Great surprise here in the phenomenal Seabrook food scene. It’s always nice to find a consistently good local taqueria. Habanero’s adds to that with the colorful and(more importantly) flavorful tacos. The many pork taco choices are astounding in variety and taste. Each option has its own personality and ingredients. The chicken and steak based tacos are excellent as well. There are three unique sauces at the table if you need a bit more spunk. The prices are good, if a bit high for us to just grab tacos. We were in for $ 43 for two adults and 3 young kids. Chips & salsa was extra($ 3.00) but not that great. Homemade lemonade was subpar for $ 2.50 The key is the tacos for sure. Plus do yourself a favor and get the retried beans. They are so surprisingly flavorful that they had me desperately wondering what the delicious taste was as it couldn’t be boring old beans. Nothing boring about those beans. Delicious. Overall a great meal. Check it out!
