My boyfriend and I truly loved this place. Please take note that it is not elegant and rich, but it is homey, comfortable, and safe. Some perks: endless coffee when the office is open, the nicest hosts(Ruth and Don) I’ve come across, firewood and fire-starting kit for $ 5.00, a dvd library, a game library, books, Little Debbies for a breakfast snack, and pretty darn good prices for the area. Do bring your own conditioner because the conditioned shampoo they provide isn’t enough for wind damaged beach hair. :) They’re also as accommodating with check-in and check-out times as their own schedules allow. This is an incredibly lovely hotel and we got the number to stay again. We felt so safe and welcome and cozy and we had such a good time.

Love this place. Half block from the beach. Delightful, friendly staff. Clean, with warm, homey feel. Rained in? Borrow a board game or video. Kitchenettes available. Would DEFINITELY stay again.

I have stayed at many, many places over the years in Seaside but once I found Hillcrest I will not stay anywhere else. Ruth & Don are the best! They are so make you feel like family. Clean and reasonable rooms. Free DVD rental and a great location. You can go to the office and ask them anything at any time and they will have the answer.

We loved this place. It is nothing fancy but the Inn managers are so wonderful. The room was quaint but clean and had everything we could need. They have a DVD library that you can borrow DVDs from. With 6 kids, this was the perfect family get away. We will definitely stay here again

There is a reason this near-waterfront location gets such high ratings, and it isn’t for the décor. Starting with the cons, the room we stayed in was VERY dated, especially the baby blue bathtub and 70’s looking furniture. The walls were thin, and when you have a family reunion going on in the Hillcrest’s rental house next door, you should expect the sound of happy children from seven in the morning to eleven at night seeping into your room. I start with the negatives because one would expect, as many other reviews have stated, for the price of a room near the beach here you would expect this place to be less than stellar. And that’s what we wanted. If we wanted five-star treatment, we would have paid through the nose for it. What we wanted was a comfortable place to stay while we spent most of our time exploring what Oregon’s coast had to offer. Now, let me tell you that we got more than we wanted, and it was amazing. The Hillcrest Inn is more than an affordable room. It’s a stay with your best friend at her childhood home, or a visit to your favorite aunt’s house. You are welcomed into a home where someone set up the guest room just for you. The proprietors treat you like family from the moment they greet you at check in. We reserved a room with a kitchen area, and without seeing what it was stocked with, we were told if there was anything we needed that wasn’t there(pots, pans, utensils, condiments) to ask them first in case there was something already available we could use. Need beach towels? They got them. Beach toys for my young son to play with in the sand? Got those, too. Ooh, you found a sand dollar? Let’s get that washed up for you so it’s clean for the rest of your trip! We left the Hillcrest ready to call the owners«aunty» and«uncle.» This is a great family-oriented inn with convenient access to the beach, the aquarium, and fun shops. Reserve early, because rooms can fill up fast with return guests that already call this place«home away from home.»

«Let’s go!» he said. «I’ll be home in a few minutes, let’s pack a quick bag and head for a weekend in Seaside.» «Um…okay…we don’t have any other plans, so… cool!» I told him. «Where should I call for a room?» «It’s Seaside. In February. We’ll have our pick of rooms,» he said. I’ve been working on not researching everything. Being more spontaneous. Just going with the flow, as he says. So. I said fine, and started packing. [Insert hour and a half drive to Seaside.] BF: «what do you mean, no vacancy. It’s Seaside, in February!» [I’m trying not to look smug. While thinking oh crap, how much are we going to have to pay for a room?] Turns out, there was a high school basketball tournament going on. Hello, families of the Pacific NW descending on Seaside. Enter: Hillcrest Inn. ½ a block from the beach and they have a few vacancies. This is either going to cost us dearly or be a total dive. How about… neither? What a pleasant surprise! Our room was quite affordable for a queen room, with a nice little couch sitting area. The décor was a bit dated in the room — floral bedspread, that kind of thing — but absolutely immaculate. Clean clean clean. Fresh white sheets and soft towels that made me feel like we were staying somewhere much more upscale. The bed was super comfortable. The whole place has a nice charm to it and the location was great. The staff could not have been friendlier and were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Seaside. The only downs were really thin walls and ceilings/floor. I’d recommend 2nd floor for that reason. We had a lovely weekend and enjoyed our stay. We’ll be back to the Hillcrest Inn.

I booked a Jacuzzi room so that I could enjoy a much anticipated and very large gathering going on at the Hillcrest House. It was a great weekend! The room was comfortable, relaxing, clean and quite. It was definitely an added bonus to have a Jacuzzi in my room at the end of the day… what a treat. I was all prepared to write a raving review until I found out that a couple in our party that had also gotten a Jacuzzi did not have the same experience. Their room was infested with fleas. The couple was offered compensation for the one night if they were choosing to check out that day but they had every intention of staying the full weekend which included another night. The couple was moved to another room but NEVER compensated for either of the nights that they stayed. Does the manager realize what this couple went through? Not only were they flea bitten but their belongings were all exposed to the fleas and the eggs they had layed while in the room for the night. Moving them only exposed yet another room to the fleas and now the couple has to deal with taking their belongings home and exposing their home and pets to hatching flea eggs. While I had a fantastic stay I am not able to give the raving review I wanted to due to the experience my friends had and the lack of compassion the management showed in dealing with this uncomfortable situation. Shame on you Hillcrest Inn!
