Never Never Land Music: 4 Setting: 4 People: 4 Drinks/Prices: 5 This urban Never Never Land relaxes your and takes you away to blissful intoxication. 509 is a self-described«urban winery», set in a warehouse by the water. It is the starting point of the Fremont Art Walk that occurs the first Friday of every month. But, as Steve, the owner of 509, intimated to me when I asked him, with the flyer of the Fremont Art walk in hand, there is the ‘official’ art walk and the ‘what usually happens’. The ‘official’ walk is a self-guided walk to multiple locations around Fremont, mostly involving something artistic(e.g. the Troll and art galleries). The ‘what usually happens’ is that people arrive at 509 and go ‘Peter Pan’. They buy a bottle of their wonderful wine(I bought the wonderful Shiraz), savor the awesome food provided by Skillet(which comes to 509 with the art walk every first Friday), listen to the live old-time music(I think it’s swing/blue-grass, but I’m not sure), and never leave. On this night, I had the good fortune of hanging out with ‘H’. She got here late; I was already two glasses and half a bottle in. I also had the famous burger from the Skillet truck. She followed up with Fish Tacos, also very tasty. Munching on pistachios and listening to Blue Grass, we never made it to the Fremont Art walk. I’m guessing Steve would probably smilingly say: «So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never Land.»

This is great for happy hour. I first heard about it on a Unilocal email. They have free tastings and give you appetizers like goat cheese and chocolates and nuts. So much value for no $. And if you want to get a glass of wine i think its only $ 5, very reasonable. get there early if you and your friends want to get a table because there’s not much seating. They have some other stuff that goes on there like music and food trucks but I didn’t see any of that the night i was there. i’ll have to go back.

I can’t believe I never knew this place was right there! Highly recommend you stop by for their free tastings every Friday from 3pm-8pm. Easy free parking lot is a pro, although the entrance is nestled around the corner and in the back. Stacey poured us generous glasses of 509’s Walla Walla Valley Syrah, perfectly paired with herb encrusted goat cheese, buttery crackers, exquisite coffee chocolates, and delicious cashews. She clearly has an eXcellent palate because the goodies she chose to serve were some of the best munchies I’ve had in a long time. I could NOT stop eating the cheese! Ok ok, this post is supposed to be about wine, but to be fair the Syrah tasted better and better thanks to the choices of complimenting flavors. And amazing hospitality! Really top notch. There were a lot of regulars there and I will definitely be coming back with friends.

I just got back from a tasting at 509 with a few girlfriends and we had the best time! A girlfriend of mine lives just a few blocks from here so a group of us took a walk along the waterfront and stepped inside for a tasting. This space is really gorgeous with tall ceilings, concrete floors and heavy wood furniture made from reclaimed wood and ceiling beams. The woman that poured samples was so kind. She offered us some chocolates, cheeses, crackers, nuts, and olives to pair with the wines we tasted. She was so generous and informative that it made the experience all the more pleasant. Towards the end of the evening when we were headed out we purchased a few bottles and she showed us a sneak peak of the new rose they’re coming out with. I can’t to come back and try it!
