Acorn Daycare

I was Very Unsatisfied with this child care provider so much so that I removed my child after less than two months at the place.
The owner and operator appears quite aloof and could not remember simple dates, requests or phone calls. Any time I had any sort of questions or information she requested I text her it to her later.
This provider was unable/​unwilling to provide a lunch menu or tell me what my child was eating other than «pennies on the dollar is what the state reimburses me for the food I serve».
The supposed schedule at the center is not followed. The children will often be served breakfast at 10am and when I arrived at 430pm to pick my child up all the children were in the dark nap room sleeping. When I asked why my child was napping so late the provider insisted «oh they went to sleep late». Well this late nap was every day and I had to put my foot down and say my child cannot be sleeping late constantly we have a bedtime at our house and it isn’t 10pm.
This provider leaves her home daycare constantly and has a «friend» watch the children. On one particular evening I attempted to reach the provider to inform her I would be early and to have my child ready and she wouldn’t answer her phone. When I arrived at her home her «friend» was watching the children. I asked this individual if there was a phone in the center as I had frantically been calling and the «friend» informed me no Virginia just has a cellphone and she went out for the day so I had no way of checking on my child. I demanded this persons phone number and she obliged but this was a big warning sign and we began planning to move to another center.
The last straw came when I picked up my child and the provider informed me that she had allowed my son and an older child to be alone in the nap room outside of nap time and one or both of them had soiled her couch. She wasn’t the least bit ashamed that she hadn’t watched the children instead she assured me she was pretty sure she was going to be able to have her couch cleaned. The following day was the last day my child was under Virgina’s care and on that day I found out that she instructed my child and another to smell the soiled cushions of the couch as punishment. I never allowed my child to go back to this care center.
Lastly, the rates charged are equal to an organized learning center up the road with hot healthy meals, lesson plans, accountability, and without abusive punishments so I would recommend anyone go else ware.
