Came here after seeing the line of a famous chowder place. Worst clam chowder ever! Tasted horrible! Not edible.

Grilled cheese on sourdough and tomato soup was excellent! Wife had the clam chowder– it’s not exactly New England Style: there’s some different spices or something.

Went for breakfast and it’s pretty good for breakfast, also it’s not that pricey. Everyone can get something for a little under $ 10. The only problem would be seating because the place is pretty small, so I wouldn’t recommend large parties.

Not too horribly spendy for being on the Seattle waterfront @ Pier 57. We walked down to this pier from the aquarium and saw a table and soup and decided to take a chance. I didnt read any reviews, sat down ordered chowder in the bread bowl and shared with my kids. the bread from the inside of the bowl is worth its weight in gold. Its sour, its not too dense and its got s really nice chew to it without being dried up and crusty. Service guy behind the counter was a bit dull, but nothing out of the norm for a quick counter eatery. The soup came out in a few minutes, along with a club sandwich my son ordered. The soup was a nice addition to the amazing bread bowl. The soup was creamy but not overly fatty feeling, thinned with a bit of stock im assuming which is nicely salty, briny and clammy-get it? Great soup, great bread and quick food in a busy place.

Friendly service and a quality product Always stop in and buy a few loaves of extra sour to bring back to Montana

Worst customer service ever! Came in to a dead shop. The gentleman working the register was extremely rude, kept sighing, rolling his eyes and dragging his feet. I believe his name was Richard. I overheard another guy calling out that name. I did post a photo of him for my fellow Unilocalers to beware! I ordered a sandwich and stood around for 25 minutes waiting for it. It was obvious he hated his job. There were a few customers coming in and he gave them all the same rude attitude. Unprofessional, unwelcoming and i won’t be back. It’s sad to have an employee with that type of behavior represent a shop that relies on customers to thrive.

Swung by this spot after a free walking tour because I was insanely famished after listening to all those cool Seattle facts. Plus, I was watching a dude on the tour gobble a whole round loaf while listening about the 600 pound octopi that divers have spotted. We wanted a quick snack so I shared a cup of chowder that came with a sourdough roll with M. Hot, peppery, not too creamy or thick, the soup really hit the spot. The bread was soft, although the outside was more crumbly than the sourdough I’ve eaten in San Francisco and got everywhereeeeee. Nonetheless, it made a good pairing with the creamy soup. There are a handful of humble tables inside, and a public restroom on the 3rd floor of the building if you’re a clueless tourist like me.

We stopped by here after a day doing touristy things at Pike Place with an out-of-town visitor. Got the special which was a grilled cheese and tomato something soup. The sandwich was surprisingly good. The bread was skillfully grilled yet soft and delicious. The tomato soup was top notch and the two tasted great together. Employees seemed pretty lack luster to be working here, but if you want a great sandwich or soup, definitely worth checking out.

Not a quick lunch, but definitely worth the wait. Chowder is really good. We also had panini sandwiches which were large and filling. Chocolate chip cookie was just ok. Seating is very limited seems to be more of a take out place.

So good! A lot of places are changing their recipes and their sourdough seems to be more white bread with some sour flavoring… This place — made fresh every day and when I went in the early afternoon… Virtually all gone! Must go early. Only sadness is price — not a complaint as I’d rather pay a good price for best and savour every last morsel. So great!

A great place to stop for a quick bite then you are down on the waterfront! The bread is soooo fresh and delicious. I ordered a sandwich and it was made fresh, and served up quickly. Now, seating in this place was a little tricky and if it had been any busier, it would have been impossible to sit down. But, I got lucky and found a little counter space. I enjoyed my lunch and left quickly to make room for others. Great sandwich! Great bread!

We got a cup of tomato soup and clam chowder. Yummy tomato soup! The bread was delicious. Our only mistake was not getting bread bowl! It was huge and I’m sure was delicious! Next time!

We stopped in for breakfast and were ignored by the 3 workers that were there — they said they opened at 8 and we showed up at 8:25. Definitely didn’t want to serve breakfast!

Rude rude staff but great food. Probably not going again. Just wanted try some great brass but the boys rubbing the place were literally pissed off we asked for some bread in the sample baskets because there are different kinds.

If there’s something better than a mayonnaise-y sandwich made with fresh baked sourdough, it’s probably the clam chowder in a bread bowl! Almost went to Fisherman’s Restaurant but compared Unilocal reviews and came here instead. So glad we did! They had a vegetarian sandwich for me and my sample of the chowder was divine. And, of course, the bread is wonderful! Fresh, simple and tasty. Highly recommend!

Locate at Pier 57, this place is always crowded. My husband and I, we tried their famous bread bowl clam chowder. OMG, this is the best clam chowder I had ever ate. Better than Bourdin in San Francisco or Lombard’s Seafood Grill at Universal Studios Orlando. Although it called sourdough bread bowl, but, it’s not overly sour as at Bourdin. The bread crust is crunchy which I liked very much. My husband and I, we shared just 1 bread bowl chowder because it’s HUGE. For $ 8.95 + tax, you can’t beat this and clam chowder tastes heavenly good. Lol. Creamy, thick sauce and perfectly seasoning. We couldn’t resisted it so we came back next day to eat again. My husband also tried their double chocolate brownie. Too sweet for me so I skipped it. Try the bread bowl clam chowder and you won’t regret. I guarantee :-)

Excellent Clam Chowder Bread Bowls. Lots of soup and bread was perfect balance of soft inside and crusty outside. Great atmosphere, less chaotic than surrounding restaurants.

This used to be THE place to get sourdough bread. For years my family and I would come here and buy loaves of bread that we would keep in the freezer for whenever we were craving some amazing sourdough bread. After my sister moved to the east coast she developed a habit of bringing along an extra suitcase so she could fill it with only sourdough bread to take back home with her(on the east coast they don’t know the meaning of sourdough bread– they call it sourdough, but it just tastes like white bread). Unfortunately, a new owner bought this place and changed the recipes of the bread making it more like french bread. Even their extreme sourdough bread is not very sour, and still tastes simply like french bread. In addition, the bread here is now pretty tough while it used to be very soft and easy to tear into. I’ve come here multiple times since it switched owners hoping that maybe they would go back to having sourdough bread that actually tasted like sourdough bread, but unfortunately it’s the same every time. Now, the only good sourdough bread I can find in the area is the one sold by Trader Joes.

Came in for the sourdough and chowder, left super satisfied. The bread is sour, chewy, and delicious! The chowder was slightly above average. I wish they cut the hole bigger in the bread because at the end there was a lot more bread to chowder ratio. Good if your searching for a good chowder in bread bowl. Also great view with the pier right here.

The Panera Bread of chowder and sandwiches. A bakery for sure(baguettes, muffins, cookies), but this is known for the chowder. The bread is chewy more than crusty, but alas, good. But it has that branding/packaging that I don’t want from a chowder place, because it doesn’t have the right feel. Located on Pier 57, it’s hard to get to from Pike Market, and why would you? Stay there and eat what they have. If you really feel like walking, alright, but I think you’ll be disappointed with the limited inside seating. It’s nowhere near an ocean view. What did I order? Clam Chowder Bread Bowl — good chowder and so-so bread. What gives for a 3.0 star? Ambiance, or lack of it. It felt like I was eating in a dark corner. Big bakery, little seating.
