Tried this place last week for the first time and it was pretty good. I walked in pretty hungry and was getting cranky at how long it was taking, but in their defense they did seem to make it fresh. Once I took a bite of that chorizo goodness all was forgiven. Def worth the wait!

Bauguette Box Fremont provides passable, upscale ethnic-fusion sandwiches and other lunchtime fare. The braised pork shoulder baguette with harissa oil, sweet red peppers and red onion relish was reasonably good, although I would have liked to see a little less soft doughy bread and a little more umph in the way of fresh herbs. Both sides I tried — the potato salad and the green beans — were oddly over peppered with a noticeable sprinkling of ground black pepper over both bowls. The green beans were nice and crispy, with a generous sprinkling of feta, and I would order then again minus the black pepper. The potato salad was horrible(far too pepper and otherwise devoid of seasoning) and I only ate a couple of bites. Baguette Box does get an extra rating boost from me because they stock Pellegrino sodas including Aranciata and Limonata, which I’l happily never get enough of.

I’ve given it two goes once for the chicken & now the chorizo sandwich. The chicken was about avg nothing special but man the chorizo had to have been a joke. No sarcasm I’ve had beef jerky that was less dry & tough than the very thin piece of chorizo they put on the oversized baguette which just exaggerates the ridiculousness of the combo. As people mentioned fries are about avg as well nothing special for ~ $ 4 a side anyways. Service both times has been meh similar to other posts like they didn’t really care one way or another which just seems to be the whole vibe of the place from start to finish. Don’t think I’ll be going back and its 100 yards from my work; too many other great sandwiches with a few blocks.

Stopped by after a stroll through the Fremont Sunday Market. Ordered the truffle fries and crispy drunken chicken. Sadly, the sandwich was mediocre… the chicken was crispy but didn’t really fit the baguette, which was too soft for my liking. The grilled onions made it a little bit better. No sriracha in sight. Fries were okay… nothing special. We did get a free drink for checking in on Unilocal, which was nice. I probably wouldn’t stop by again unless I was really hungry and there was nothing else around. I’d rather have a $ 3 banh mi from the ID.

Unbelievably bad sandwich! I was here last Saturday and had the worst sandwich of my life. I’ve had gas station sandwiches that were better, much better.
I ordered the crispy tofu sandwich and what I got was a baguette slathered in aioli with what I assume started as a 1 inch cube of tofu in 3 small, thin slices. I only had 3 or 4 bites of my sandwich that actually had tofu. The sandwich was also suppose to have avocado, carrots and pickled diakon. It had 1 slice of carrot(honestly a single slice), 1 pickled diakon and no avocado. I just kept opening up my sandwich assuming I had somehow missed something… I basically paid $ 7 for ailoi and bread. I will never go there again. What a horrible waste of retail space in Fremont, hopefully they close up so a real sandwich shop could go in.

I used to come here to grab a great, warm sandwich with complex flavors but apparently the flavors on on permanent vacation as the last few sandwiches I bought here were bland and mushy. I went with my gf this past week to buy a braised pork and a drunken chicken sandwich. The Sandwiches: Mine was the pork and it had absolutely no flavor to it whatsoever. The pork was moist and tender, but devoid of any sort of flavor. Normally they toast their bread, but with the combination of a soft bread and bland, soft meat, it was terrible. It seemed like it should have some sort of aoili or something on it to provide some flavor complexity, but the most I got was«meh mush» which made me think of whatever folks in prison get. My gf’s sandwich was just as bland. She could only taste the cilantro in it but without that, it also was bland. The Service: I only expect a limited amount of service at a place like this but my last trip there it was lax and we almost seemed like an annoyance to the staff. First off, noone was behind the counter after we ordered. They went to the back and chit chatted for about 8 minutes as we waited. There was no cooking or anything going on behind the scenes, so it was a little odd. Secondly, the couple before us ordered truffle fries and waited a good 20 minutes for them. They received their tasteless sandwiches and waited. After a while, one of them went up to inquire about the fries. The two people behind the counter looked uninterested and said«oh they aren’t ready». 20 minutes later? Really? There was no fryer going in the background so I was thinking that it would take more than a few minutes to get those done. The person asking then said«if I knew they’d take this long to get cooked, I wouldn’t have ordered them». The guy behind the counter shrugged as if he didn’t care and stood there awkwardly. The couple then asked for their money back as fries were nowhere in sight. Environment: The place was cold as heck in there. They also cranked up the radio to «11» as it was hard to even have a conversation in the place without yelling. Sad, sad service. I won’t be going back. My old quick sandwich place will have to be someplace else with better sandwiches and better service.

I had the Crispy Drunken Chicken and it was really good! I have no complaints at all. My sandwich was made in a very decent amount of time. The french fries were also very good. And customer service was good. All around good pleasant experience! :D The one thing I didn’t like were the tables. I can imagine if the place was packed, the tables would be cramped. But thankfully, the place wasn’t packed and we got one of the picnic tables all to ourselves.

Had some sandwiches here last week and was actually thinking that I was making a great choice to go to lunch here for a tasty interesting sandwich… …and I was wrong. We walked in at 1 pm on a weekday and it was completely deserted(not to my surprise now). No friendly faces from the two guys working behind the counter, and we got almost glares for ordering food? We asked what was good and we got grunts about a beef sandwich. We ordered that and the chicken and both were trash worthy but my growling stomach forced me to eat the food we had paid almost $ 20 for. It’s really unfortunate because we live so close, but we won’t be wasting out money here ever again. Not to mention the place was dirty and smelled like stinky socks on a locker room. Just, stay away.

This place was decent. In my opinion it was over hyped. I would have been happy with one of two things: 1) a mouthwatering traditional bahn mi sandwich or 2) any sort of mouthwatering sandwich. Baguette Box didn’t strike me as having either. I wasn’t going to judge it on Vietnamese authenticity since it doesn’t really claim to be. Therefore, I was pretty open minded when I visited this place. We ordered the drunken chicken bowl, pork belly sandwich, and truffle fries. The drunken chicken bowl was satisfying but the flavors weren’t creative or authentic. I reminded me of something that Panda Express would serve as a seasonal dish. The pork belly sandwich has lots of potential. It was by no means disappointing but I felt like it was missing some special sauce or ingredient to set it apart. The truffle fries were well prepared in the sense that they were the right balance of crispy and chewy. My only problem was it lacked any truffle flavor. I could barely taste any truffle oil and I didn’t even use ketchup! If I used ketchup then I REALLY wouldn’t taste anything. The food had decent flavors but it wasn’t anything that blew my mind. It reminded me of something I could order at a mall food court and I would be happy with. It isn’t a place I would go out of my way to pursue.

I was really excited for my first Baguette Box experience. I had been looking forward to it for about a week. I had heard good reviews from friends/family/etc…unfortunately it did not live up to the expectation. After reading multiple reviews I decided to order the drunken chicken and truffle fries. The chicken was flavored well but I felt that the bread a just a bit on the dry side. And I know that it’s a baguette and it should be crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside but it was waaaaaay to crunchy for my liking. The fries were okay but I must have gotten the bottom of the bag because I had all these little bits and pieces. Overall the staff was friendly and I like that there’s seating outside for sunny days but I can’t honestly say that I would recommend this place or visit again.

tasty sandwiches, but I’m always left wishing I had just gotten real bahn mi for a quarter of the price when I have new-fangled fusion upscale vietnamese sandwiches The lemongrass marinated steak with hoisin was tasty and closest to a traditional viet sandwich– good fresh garnishes and pickles, beef was tender, flavorful and well cooked The Chorizo was not great but the red peppers were good on it– the sausage was way too skinny for the huge wide bun My wife’s tofu with avocado was probably the best of the three beets had no flavor– needed garlic and more vinegar the bread was soft and fresh the service was pretty slow for a sandwich place at lunch time

So, this is about my first experience with Baguette Box, which was today. First off, I’d like to say that the sandwiches(Drunken Chicken and Braised Pork Belly) were excellent, full of flavor and well-made. The fries accompanying them were also outstanding. My stars off are more about their website and ordering process… of lack thereof. Online, BB looks very impressive and creating and sending an order is easy and slick. However, I was kind of surprised when I get to the restaurant to pick up my order and was told by Margot that she had no record of it. I said that I had placed it online and she said she didn’t have a password for the computer, so she wasn’t aware of orders coming in that way. She’s an employee and doesn’t have a password? Truly, a WTF?! moment. I’m not upset, but thought others should be aware that they have this really impressive website with super easy ordering, but it goes to waste if their employees don’t have the password to access incoming orders. It simply makes no sense. Anyway, the happy ending is that the sandwiches and fries were delicious and both Margot and her coworker hustled to prepare my order. But if you’re going to have online ordering, you should make it functional, especially when you send back to the customer not one, but two, confirmations(via e-mail AND text).

Baguette Box has some innovative Bahn Mai sandwiches, priced higher than you’ll find in the ID certainly, but where are you gong to find pork belly, or fried tofu or eggplant Bahn Mai? I had the Drunken Chicken and the first time I had it(at the Capitol Hill location) my eyes rolled back in my head. It was that good. I had it again today(almost a year later) at the Fremont location and I have to say I agree with other Unilocalers, that it needed more flavor. Not sure why the WIDE variance. Have my taste buds changed? It was enjoyable still, but not consistant with the sandwich at the other location, and it was missing that fantastic Bahn Mai heat and spice that I love. On the other hand, it was a generous sandwich. Not sure why other Unilocalers conclude that $ 6.90 for an enormous sandwich full of grilled onions, almost a salad’s worth of organic greens and deep friend chicken is not a good value. It is in my book, and much lower than those at Homegrown(which I also like) which are typically about $ 12. The sandwiches aren’t hugely meaty, but Bahn Mi traditionally is all about the french bread and the sandwich filling is almost a spicy accompaniment to the bread. That’s also the case here. I have to say that home baked and still warm bread could have made sandwich even better, but it was clear the bread was fresh –sometimes its even still warm in a great Vietnamese sandwich shop, and that makes all the difference! Still, the sandwiches are good, touching on great, and the food is an excellent value. I’m a fan! And I haven’t even tried the truffle fries.

We’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to go. Ordered the drunken chicken and pork belly baguette along with the truffle fries. The drunken chicken was a little bland. The pork belly baguette was extremely tasty the first few bites but then half way into it, all the different flavors started becoming a bit too much — wasn’t able to finish the whole thing. Could be a good sharing sandwich so you just need to eat half of it. The fries were mediocre, especially for them being $ 4.80. Kind of just tasted like regular fries. Overall, fresh ingredients and creative combinations but not the best tasting sandwiches out there.

Bad things happen when I’m allowed to have truffle fries. Have been here several times, and love it every time. The crispy chicken is outstanding, with a little spice and crispiness along with the softness of the roll and savory sauce. The tofu sandwich is also outstanding, with great texture contrasts and flavor. However, the one thing I always have are the truffle fries. They are regular fries with some salt and truffle oil, which makes them essentially a recipe for me to eat/jealously guard a whole order of fries(aka disaster for any diet I’m on). The added truffle oil changes the flavor to make it deeper and more satisfying, and I have to get them every time. Overall, I adore this place, and it’s a standard option when I visit Fremont.

New to working in the area, crossing off lunch places nearby. Wasn’t too busy, no line but still had to wait to order. Not the friendliest bunch of employees. Recommended the pork shoulder. Waited around a bit and took my sandwich to my desk. Very underwhelming for a ‘recommended sandwich’, warm sandwich with cold bell peppers. Didn’t finish it, not gonna be a regular anytime soon.

I met a friend here because she claimed that the tofu sandwich was amazing… and she is a carnivore! She was right, it was the best tofu anything that I have ever had! I can’t review this place based on much else, but believe me that sandwich is worth it! Oh, I do really like the décor, its just a bunch of pictures and paintings of dogs :) Plus, you can eat your sandwich outside and watch the boats go by. So, amazing vegetarian food, cute dog pics, and a wonderful place to enjoy a Seattle summer day; does it get much better?!

I’d been hearing great things about this place, so I went in with semi-high expectations. I know what happens when I go into an establishment with high-expectations, I’m let down; and unfortunately that was case. First off I dropped like $ 15 on a sandwich, a drink, a few potatoes and a two bite banana cake. I usually don’t mind spending money on good food, but I feel like I was ripped off. Also this should serve as a reminder to me to check the prices of things(especially drinks) before I purchase them! The sandwich(drunken chicken) looked good, it made me think of Vietnamese sandwiches right away(minus the pickled carrots, etc). However my chicken was super fatty(I hate super fatty) and scalding hot. I ended up burning the roof of my mouth and it still hurts. It tasted okay, not what I was expecting, I wasn’t blown away that’s for sure. If I had to rate it I’d give it a 2 – 2.5 out of 5. The potatoes were pretty good, light and with a kick but they felt under seasoned. The banana cake tasted fine, just like a super moist piece of banana bread with coconut milk on top. I wanted to try the beet salad, I probably should have. So all in all would I try Baguette Box again? Maybe. The tofu sandwich sounds interesting and I’d definitely want to try the beet salad and fries with truffle oil. Will I be coming back soon? Probably not.

Upping a star. Two reasons: 1. The pork belly. After eating it again, I’m reminded of the perfect, juicy succulence and the lovely contrast between tender meat, crisp vegetables and just-right chewiness of baguette. Not to mention the depth of flavor and the hint of fresh Vietnamese spicy coolness against the richness of the pork belly. 2. The service. There was confusion about whether my friend had ordered a salad or a sandwich; she hoped for the sandwich but was a little surprised to see a salad set in front of her.(The Tuna Nicoise, which looked phenomenal, with big chunks of potato and tuna and hard-boiled egg and vegetables all nestled in a bowl.) They were entirely accommodating of the mix-up(there’s a tuna salad and sandwich both), and didn’t charge her for the sandwich of her choice, which they promptly created. Once again, can’t wait to go back!

i feel as though 2 stars for this place is harsh. but as the description states«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» i’ve eaten vietnamese sandwiches before, plenty of times before, and this is very similar. i won’t say it’s the same, but it fills the same need –for double or triple the price. i’m always looking for the value/satisfaction ratio, and this place scores low.
