Beyond the Ink Tattoo and Art Gallery

Once again Lindsey did an amazing job. I went in October 4^th for a re work on a flower on the back of my neck. Lindsey orginally did the tattoo about 10 years ago. Due to the fact that I never put sunscreen on the tattoo it had faded, badly. The re work is amazing. I get so many compliments on it. In fact on my home from the appointment I stopped at a store and got a few compliments, with the plastic wrap still on! When he was finished with the flower he did a little heart on my left ring finger. I wanted the word «Mrs.» But Lindsey explained that he did not think I would like the end result and I trust his judgment so we went with the heart. I LOVE it. Thank you Lindsey for the beautiful re work and my cute little heart! I will be back so we can add more to that flower!

Great experience, I went in with an idea of what I wanted and Mr. Vick took some creative license with my idea and designed the art work and made it better than I could have ever imagined and he was very enthusiastic about the whole process, tattoo came out great, everyone who’s seen it so far had raved about it and the price was great also, I’ve paid twice as much for a lot simpler tattoo, I will definitely go back to Beyond the ink and Mr. Vick.

Lindsey is the man, plain and simple. He did my first sleeve and every tattoo afterwards. He has done art for pretty much every member of my family. Great place, clean, professional but also fun. Have also bought some of his art to decorate my house and been very happy. In particular he did a samurai piece in charcoal that is just amazing. Cant recommend enough. Only stopping me from going back for the other sleeve is my cashflow.

Mr. Vick did my tattoo and it looks awesome. He’s an apprentice so it took a bit longer than the average tattoo, but he was also being super careful mess it up. I’ll definitely be going back for more.

Yesterday I went with my daughter to get my first tattoo. I waited 5 and a half years to hear the words ‘you can put your Cancer behind you’
Lindsey listened to what I was looking for. Respected the fact I didn’t want the cliché pink ribbon stuff. He designed my tattoo with all of my wishes in mind. I cried when I saw the finished piece. It exceeded my expectations.

Linsey is awesome!!! I did not know exactly what I wanted so I sent him various photos of tattoos that I thought were very nice!!! He created a beautiful piece and I couldn’t be happier!!! This man is a real artist who takes tattooing very serious!!! Thank you a million times Lindsey!

I have heard wonderful things about Lindsay’s artwork… but I could not know because he is so bad at running his business. My wife and I have each _​tried_​to get tattoos done at BTI, entirely without success.
Her experience:
Made an appointment for consult, Lindsay never showed up. On later contact, he never apologized or even attempted to make an excuse.
At the second appointment, he actually showed but was difficult to work with. My wife had emailed him concept art; he could not find the email. She sent it again right then; he could not get his computer to display it the way he wanted. When he finally got through technical difficulties and saw the concepts — stunning work from a world-​renowned tattoo artist — he dismissed it «not great» «I can do much better.» Just classless.
Finally (this process has now taken almost a month of back & forth), he has done his mock-​up. However, it took repeated times asking him how long it might take and thus how expensive it would be. Maybe all of his clients are rich but we have a budget and will not buy commit to something with no idea what the cost will be.

, listed on their website and previously used for communication with Lindsay. I took the time to detail what I am looking for and include concept art. Almost two weeks later I have received absolutely no response. Yes, it is the holiday season but I would expect at least a one-​line «Busy/​closed for the holidays. I will respond by (date).» Is that really too much to ask?
I simply cannot wrap my head around how someone can run a business and be so very bad at simply providing the service that potential customers want to pay for. My wife & I are not particularly difficult customers and we try to make the process as simple as possible. A more cynical person would see this as Lindsay deliberately wasting our time.

Lindsey Johnson is a phenomenal tattoo artist! I was referred here by my fiancé and many friends who have gotten beautiful pieces done by Lindsey. After a thorough consultation and letting him know what I wanted and what I did not want we scheduled an appointment. Fast foreword… I got my tattoo done 3 days ago and I am ecstatic!!! No. Only am I obsessed with my beautiful custom piece but with the overall experience as well. Lindsey made me very comfortable as we were getting ready, asking me if there was music or a movie I would like to watch to keep me occupied as he tattooed. He stopped working to talk to a few walk ins, totally fine by me as it gave me a moment to stretch! Three hours later I had this BEAUTIFUL piece on my forearm.
Ultimately, I highly recommend Beyond The Ink Tattoo and more particularly Lindsey Johnson for any custom piece. After the one piece on my forearm I am itching for another already! I can’t stop staring and obsessing about how beautiful it is! Thank you very much Lindsey! I would also like to add that it is healing beautifully (got it Sunday, it is now Tuesday)!
** 9 months later** not only am I still super obsessed with this beautiful piece as I was when it was first done, I get complements on it DAILY. Thank you so much Lindsey for you patience, attention to detail, extreme professionalism and amazing work!

Nice guys, $ 150 minimum. I got the tiniest, two line cross like an inch tall and it bleeds, and a blotchy little tiny heart. Eh, I’ll probably cover the cross, honestly. Or get it redone somewhere better.

Good artist! I had to reduce my rating cause the most recent piece I got was done wrong and now a sentimental tattoo I was stoked to get, I hate. I understand mistakes happen but don’t think I’ll be going back.

Best Tattoo shop I have ever been to. Super cool atmosphere with art all over the walls. Very clean and organized. The artist are professionals and ask you what you want. Not what the constraints of flash art you want. They are always including the clients in group photo shoots and having art shows. The tattoo shop is evolving into something much more than a tattoo shop. Its a community.

I love the vibe of this place. Rather than you typical tattoo studio (too loud, way too much metal, people who sit outside and chain smoke etc.), Beyond The Ink mellows out the experience to an actual enjoyable one. Now, before anyone goes off on me saying how dare I call out other tattoo shops, just know that I’m completely covered in tattoos. I can justly form an opinion on the «vibe» of many shops.
Beyond The Ink is small, only a few artists working out of it, and the focus on the walls is actual ART and not just flash designs. The art is created by the tattoo artists themselves and the framing of the pieces is top notch.
I get tattooed by Justin, and he has always done me right. I’ve known him since before he was a tattoo artist, as I used to cut hair for him when he was just a struggling musician trying to tour as much as possible. It’s nice to see him with an actual career that he’ll be able to carry out for as long as he’d like to. He’s a dedicated individual and I honestly don’t know a harder worker out there than him. He’s got a great eye for fine line art, and enjoys doing pieces on people that he can free-​hand onto your skin, rather than stenciling.

Both Lindsay and Justin do phenomenal work that is vibrant, custom and they are always friendly and totally professional. I’m in the process of getting a totally awesome back piece from Justin and couldnt be happier.

Both artists here are super nice and do awesome work! Lindsey does great work. He is always going to do anything in his power to make sure you come out of here with a gorgeous piece that you will be proud to show off! He has done several pieces on me, and I love every one of them.
The other guy, Justin, that work here also does beautiful work. My good friend is getting a back piece from him and it is already a great piece.
