I’m going to just come out and rave about Brown Oscillator Amp Repair. Joe Brown is extremely knowledgeable and proficient. This was an awesome experience of forthright business practice. My vintage Fender Pro-Reverb needed a bit of work — all of which I wouldn’t have been able to asses myself. I was consulted with every step of the way, as I had financial constraints. Incredible results and he didn’t try to sell anything that didn’t need to be done. The amp is like new and sounds amazing. I can’t recommend him enough.

Truthfully, «Joe Brown is an honest dude that knows his sh*t and stands behind his work» is about as effective a one sentence desription as can be offered to describe Joe’s services. I will echo Kevin’s sentiments further and say a more helpful, knowledgeable, affordable and professional amp repair service, you will not find. After allowing the«established pros» in the industry to work on an array of amps in my collection(vintage Ampeg SVT’s and Marshall’s, Bad Cat, yada yada), I thank the good lord I finally got fed up and randomly called in response to a craigslist ad. Two years and dozens of services later, he always takes the time to answer my questions, talk tone, undertake experimental modifications, whatever I need, and he always gets it right in a timely fashion at a fraction of the other guys’ prices. Vintage or modern, tube or solid state, guitar, bass, vintage synth, whatever, Joe is your guy.

Joe Brown is an honest dude that knows his sh*t and stands behind his work. I’m in a band from San Francisco and I needed my amp repaired OVERNIGHT when we were passing through Seattle on our way to Vancouver. My Fender Twin 100 was jumping from one channel to the other and eventually wouldn’t turn on at our gig the night before. I called a couple guys in town that were going to charge me all kinds of rush fees and even then couldn’t promise to get it back to me on time. At this point I was totally freaking out because not only did I need this amp, but the much bigger band we were on tour with was using our gear as a backline. Eventually I called Joe and he calmed me down right away. He said it would be no problem for me to drop the amp off that evening and get it back to me the next day. He knew what the problem was over the phone and agreed to fix it with no rush fees and charged much less than the other shops I spoke with. After he fixed the amp(some bad solders on the board), Joe and I were in communication via text as to how the amp was working. When I blew a fuse a few days later, I brought it right back to Joe and he fixed it right away. It was great to have a guy that was concerned about the amp even after it left his shop and someone that understands the plight of a musician. He even let me crank the amp in his garage to make sure it could handle the volume I usually play at. When a neighbor complained(after about 30 seconds), Joe said calmly and unapologetically, «we’ll be done in a minute.»
