This is place has fantastic burgers and a fish meal that to great. Fries are perfect, veggies are fresh, great burger buns. A bit divey, but not in a bad way at all, more like the place that your grandfather took you to after taking you for a haircut in Saturday morning when you were 8. They take cash and credit and the service is fast. I like to grab a burger here if I stop by the elephant car wash or if my wife and I are headed to Earth Wise.

its alright. For me the fish and chips need a good slaw on the side. sadly they do not make their own slaw and its costs extra to get some with the fish and chips. i spent about $ 12 for the meal. not very with it. If youre in SODO and your near this restaurant got to «on safari» they are just around the corner and so very delicious

the food is always good; the burgers, the fries, the fish, the shakes… but there is no heat so you have to either eat in your car, or wolf down your food before it gets cold or you freeze to death.

I went there today for Lunch, the chef touched the raw frozen meat, scratched her neck touched all the refrigerator door handles, prepped lettuce put cheese on burgers and put the whole thing together on a bun without once washing her hands or wearing gloves, which is a violation of the health code. I had fish and chips, which I watched being prepared, no hands touched it so I took it, but if I were buying a burger or sandwich I would have turned it back in and gotten my money back. a few years ago I had a similar experience there and did not take my burger, but since years had passed I thought I would give it another try. Never again!

Worst fish and chips ever …greasy …cooked so long it was like a potato chip… not worth the money… milk shakes were good

The food is great, especially the fish and chips, and burgers. If you plan on eating in bring a jacket because the dining room is always freezing cold.

Eh. I’ve been here a handful of times, mostly because I was hungry and it was there. The burgers are decent. Order with bacon and grilled onions. They help. The fish sandwich is the best thing on their menu. Fries are… something else.(But fries and Seattleites have a strange relationship, as people in this city seem to think that the fries at another popular burger joint with a funny name has«the best fries ever.») Not bad. Not good, either. They taste like they’re on the verge of being overdone and criminally under seasoned. Shakes are on point, and served with a bubble tea straw, which makes me wonder why more places don’t do that. It’s genius! Everything is made to order, which is nice to know I’m eating something that hasn’t been sitting for who knows how many hours. Come here before or after the lunch rush, especially if you’d like to dine in. Parking is rough, in terms of available space and the quality of the pavement in the lot. Lovely scenery, watching the recycling trucks file in and out.

Decent, but nothing to write home about. The patty was dry, flat and flavor less. The fries were good though. Crispy and golden. The crew was nice and offered to wrap my burger in lettuce and take the cheese and ketchup off, due to my allergies. I certainly appreciate the thought. But like I said, nothing to write home about.

Not pretty to look at but great greasy burgers and an AMAZING fish sandwich! I only feel comfortable in ½ the chairs in there since most are attached to the ground and cant be moved. I think they’e old McDonald’s table/chairs. It can be pricey so look for a special. Otherwise you can shell out $ 10-$ 11 for a burger, drink and fries or onion rings. Bummer they charge for fry sauce and tarter.

Eh it was ok. Not sure I really understand the hype. There are WAY better burger places around here.

Outstanding!!! As a big fish eater, the fish sandwich is great! The fried mushrooms were a great compliment with the meal and the milkshakes are superb! I will be returning again.

This place is awesome. I’ve had plenty of fish and chips here in Seattle and at By’s it truly has been my favorite because of the thick crunchy crust and their old school feel. Wish I knew about this place years ago!

It looks like a shit hole from the outside, definitely dated on all accounts. Practically no where to sit, no where to park, but the food is delicious! I had the fish & chips, and a couple bites of my boyfriends cheeseburger, and all I want to do is go back and try one of everything.

I was really looking forward to trying this place based on the reviews. I tried the lou’s special which is now over $ 9 after tax. The food I received was alright, but I don’t feel it was worth the increased price. Burger was good, but nothing really special and the fries were soggy. My friend had the fish and did really enjoy her meal.

Second time here(a month apart) and By’s FISH&CHIPS are the BEST in Seattle no doubt, but I’ve had some F&C from the others claiming to be the best and BY’s is the best in the west coast! Restaurant isn’t up to date but who cares! And the Butterscotch Shake. Amazing

Been wanting to try this place for a while. Had the halibut and chips for $ 12.99. The overall quality of the fish was great, and the hand cut fries were awesome. I wish the fish pieces were a little thicker and maybe had a beer batter option instead of panko. But the way it was, I would pay for it again, I would just pay more for better options lol.

Not often do I take the time to write food reviews. Actually never, this is my first! By’s was so good I wanted to share. A local friend took us there for lunch and touted it as «the best fish sandwich in Seattle.» He sure was right, actually I think it was the best fish sandwich I’ve ever tasted. Great bun, fresh flake-y white fish that was perfectly breaded and seasoned, a light amount of tartar sauce… I could go on. Considering the other reviews, wish I had ordered the fries too. The only thing that could’ve made it better was an ice cold beer, but they dont serve beer and wine. Extra points for having detailed recycle/compost bins with explicit instructions for all. If ever in the SoDo area of Seattle, definitely swing by By’s!

Hands down the best French fries in Seattle. Gotta get their tartar sauce for dunkin. Burgers are very good, I always get the triple, the bun doesn’t hold up to the extra tartar sauce that goes on burger(awesome sauce!) Fish is also very good choice, crispy, flakey fish and ask for the large tartar, are you seeing a pattern here! Awesome Sauce!

This place is great! Some of the best fries I’ve ever had! The only reason this place isn’t getting 5 stars is because the beef patty in my burger was a little lackluster but the burger as a whole was still delicious. Normally I don’t like fish but I had a bite of my girlfriend’s fish sandwich and it was amazing! I’m definitely ordering that the next time I go. The price is also good. It’s not as cheap as McDonalds but the quality quite outweighs the cost. Appearance-wise, the place looks pretty run down, or «ghetto» as many have said. That being said my girlfriend, germaphobe extraodinaire, had no qualms eating there and said she’d go again.

I rarely get fish and chips. I’m often disappointed by heavy, oily fish ruined by gluey breading. I work nearby at the commissary for the next couple of months and thought I’d give it a try. Holy cow, the breading was perfect, it might have been panko crumbs due to the texture. A bit of grease but in the way the newspaper in traditional fish and chips would soak up the oil. The fries were perfect! I will have to stop myself from going once a week, and I’m not even a huge fish and chip person!
