Capoeira Malês – Mestre Curisco

I just wanted to update my review to note that I have been a student at Capoeira Malês for 3 years now, and joining this group is still one of the best decisions I have made in my life. It is an absolutely wonderful community to be a part of.
Also, for some reason at the time of this writing Unilocal is filtering out my review so most people are probably not even seeing it, but I have no idea why. It feels weird to have an algorithm decide for some reason that I am not a real person or that my review is not genuine. I’m hoping that by updating my review it will somehow become visible again.

Capoeira Males is the best way to start of continue your Capoeira Training. The people you are extremely genuine and friendly, and super easy-​going. However, when the Mestre Curisco, Professors, or Instructors train you, everyone is pushed to work hard. It is a great sport, and their is no better place to start. Even Mestre says he’s still learning, so all ability and physical levels are encourged. Come and give it a try!
I train mostly in Renton with Professor jaba. It’s a great class with an very international student base. Either way, you will love the people and the experience.

IMHO Capoeira Malês is the best capoeira group ever!
The group gives you a sense of community, everyone is friendly, nice and willing to help you with everything.
Mestre Curisco makes sure to take care of all of his student’s needs and his trainings are intense and fun.

I thought I would join Mestre Curisco’s school and get a capoeira education. I have started to get that and gained so much more in just a little over a month. Everyone I have met is so friendly and open and down to earth… but when it is time to train, it’s on and it is challenging and fun!
I train with Professor Jaba in Renton and occasionally in Seattle. These guys live, eat, and breathe capoeira and give you the confidence to succeed no matter what your skill level is.
If you come to this school, you become part of a family — no matter who you are or where you come from. Maybe that’s just how capoeira is, but I think it has a lot to do with the attitude of the folks we train with. I will be a capoeirista for life, and it is because of my great experiences with Mestre Curisco and his crew.

I love this place! My son who is almost 7 started about a month ago and is doing amazing. Mestre Curisco and his instructors are awesome at inspiring, instructing, and teaching focus and discipline to all the kids, along with instilling a welcoming sense of community.
I have taken two classes now and would say the same about them for the adult classes except I would add in that it will kick your ass! I am in better than average shape and these classes were challenging, very fun, but challenging. I’m very excited to see wherer this experience takes me.

Males (missing accent over the ‘e’) is a great group for beginners interested in learning more about Capoeira. They have a cheap rate of 50 $/​month for new students and awesome teachers. Mestre Curisco is the only mestre («master» or highest belt) in Seattle, and he’s got classes all over the country. They have a new space which is hard to find, and the reason I gave them four instead of five stars.
Mestre’s classes are a tough workout but not impossible, Jaba and Mestre’s wife usually teach the beginner’s class — basics, music, maculele and kicks, still no piece of cake, but fun too! The school has a good community feel, and Saturday classes have all the levels — which is the most fun… more energy, all ages too.
ANYWAY, good class, at least you should come to see Curisco play, he’s really fast eventhough he’s injured!
