Curves

Talk about a great group of ladies and a wonderful space! This Curves is larger, brighter and cleaner than any other Curves I have been to. The staff is amazing, the other members encouraging, and dare I say it, it makes working out fun! I especially love the Zumba workouts with Patti and Allison, and Daunne on occasion.

ZUMBA
I went and tried out the Curves in Ballard, and they had their Zumba class going with Allison as the instructor. I LOVED it. I thought it was a great addition to the normal circuit. Allison was a great instructor, she was really bubbly and her moves were easy to follow. The songs were fun and upbeat and I loved how easy it was to jump in. I’ve done Zumba before and I thought this was perfect to be incorporated into a Curves way

Zumba Circuit at Curves:
FIVE STARS: Patty teaches on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Her classes are TRUE Zumba and I love it! She has a great variety of songs and routines. She brings real dance moves into her classes and songs. She offers basic moves (for lower impact) and also pumped up moves (for those who want to burn a few more calories). She is genuinely glad to see each person and works to make everyone feel welcome. She engages with people during the class, which is especially helpful when she introduces new dances. She introduces at least one new song (and dance moves) every few weeks to keep thing fresh and fun.
ONE STAR: Allison teaches on Monday evening and Tuesday mornings. Her classes are NOT real Zumba. Many of the other women enjoy Allison’s aerobic class, but not me. If I’m going to pay $ ²⁄₃₀ minute session of ZUMBA, then I want real Zumba. I gave Allison’s classes a chance for at least a month, but just can’t bring myself to attend anymore. She has only a few basic moves that repeat over and over for 30 minutes. She occasionally changes the songs, but not often. I tried her class again recently, after several months of being away… and it was the same basic, boring moves as she had months ago and same music. Her praise is flat. She doesn’t make eye contact with anyone. She doesn’t seem to enjoy her work.
I will keep doing Zumba at Curves, but only on Patty’s days.
