I personally loved the pizza, it was very filling and satisfying. The wait was a little upsetting but still very understandable given they make it fresh, and well worth it in the end. The only thing that I found wrong with the restaurant was the service. I had gone in to eat with 2 other friends and when the check came our waitress disappeared. We weren’t able to get our check separated until another waitress(who had a bit of an attitude) came over and we had to ask her. Overall I will definitely go there again and recommend it to anyone who wants to try it, just make sure if you want your check separated to let the waiter know beforehand :).

Saw their food truck at Westlake Park, so I decided to try them out for lunch. Menu had about 3 or 4 pizzas available from what I could remember so I decided to get the«CBR”(chicken, bacon & ranch). It takes about 10 mins or so to make and they will call your name when ready. It was pretty good, I got the mini deep dish, they do put a lot of ranch on it so hopefully you like ranch flavor. No tomato sauce or anything, just their special ranch sauce on the pizza with chicken and bacon and a good amount of cheese. A few shakes of dried chili flakes and you are good to go. Decent amount of meats, melty cheese, but the ranch is a bit on the tangy side for me, but I still ate it up. Crust was pretty good as well, crispy & crunchy. Definitely filling and I wanted to take a nap under my desk afterwards. The staff was friendly and welcoming as you approach the truck, prices are a little higher, I think it was either $ 10 or $ 12 for the mini deep dish. Overall, its pretty good, reminded me of my Midwest days so thanks for the trip down memory lane. So keep an eye out for the big red food truck!

I hate to be harsh — but when your from Chicago and you order«deep dish» sauce should be on top. Our pizza came… no sauce on top… so we tried it — Very unimpressed! We asked our waiter — «why was there no sauce on top» — his response was«well our«stuffed» pizza has sauce on top. HELLOOOOOO stuffed pizza is not«deep dish Chicago pizza» we felt total cheated and disappointed especially after waiting for 45+ mins

Really well executed Chicago style deep dish pizza outside of Chicago, and right around the block from Din Tai Fung. A motivated diner could pull off an epic Bang Bang* between these two quality restaurants. *Louie CK’s invention of two full meals in two different restaurants one immediately after the other.

Be prepared to wait! The menu states it clearly and when they say 20 – 25 minutes, they mean it. If you have an hour or so and you’re craving deep dish pizza, this is a pretty good spot. The wait was lengthy and the food was above average but what I appreciated was the service. We ordered two pizzas and 25 minutes later, one of the pizzas we ordered came out incorrectly. They were extremely apologetic, probably because it would take at least another 15 minutes to bring out the right pizza. They gave us the incorrectly made pizza to share while the correct pizza came out. They didn’t charge for the incorrect pizza and they discounted the other pizza! Apart from the service, the food was above average but nothing phenomenal. Definitely a little pricey given the smallish size of the individual pizzas. If you like Chicago style pizza and you have more than 45 minutes, definitely go to Delfino’s!

Came for a quick bite before a Unilocal Elite event since I was craving creamy pasta on a cold drizzly night. Service was prompt and good; the server was patient even when I waited like 10 minutes for my sister to show up and we ended up sharing a pasta so we wouldn’t be too full for the event. The pasta, however, was a different story. We got the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The server was kind enough to not upsell us on another dish, saying it should be enough to share. The pasta itself was cooked well, but the sauce was kind of weird. I can’t tell if the alfredo had broken/separated or if the parmesan was not melted enough, but the sauce was grainy and oily. Lots of blobby oil at the bottom of the bowl. And it was bland– even copious amounts of pepper and red pepper flakes didn’t do much to improve it. An unfortunate meal eaten out of convenience. Perhaps their pizza is better– be warned that slices stop being served after 2 and their famous deep dish takes 30 minutes to cook.

So the first time that I went. it was only okay. I didn’t write a review but in retrospect I probably would have given them 3 if not 2 stars. I didn’t particularly enjoy the experience but I gave them another try and am here to report better things! First off, we got two orders of wings and two deep dish pizzas.(Get the spinach pizza with no cheese and add sausage, it’s delectable) It was pretty busy and I expected a wait as it takes a good 25 – 35 minutes to cook a deep dish or stuffed pizza and it came out in around 45 probably but my group was having a good time so it wasn’t a big deal. The service was pretty good, our waters were always full and we had silverware given to us at the right times and we didn’t have to go ask. Overall, I really really enjoyed that spinach pizza(apparently it’s the one that made them famous) and I had a good time so while I think it’s more of a 3.5 stars, I’m willing to round up. Just keep in mind that if you go here, you’ll want to be ready to wait!

Symbols that accurately represent my thoughts about Delfino’s: !!! I don’t know. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either. If I’m at U-Vil, I’ll usually go for Veggie Grill or Piatti but on this day Piatti was closed for renovations and Veggie Grill won’t cut it for a meat craving(duh) so Delfino’s it was! We waited a few minutes by the door before we got seated, and waited a few more plus a few more before we were handed our menus. We were given paper menus because they ran out of their normal menus(???) Everything here is pricier than I expected so it took me a while to decide what I wanted. After reviewing the menu, I realized that we hadn’t gotten our waters yet. At this point, we had already been seated for over 10 minutes. Even the smallest, dingiest restaurants don’t forget your water! So after we got our waters and were ready to order, I asked for the mini deep dish spinach pizza. Sure, he said, it’ll take about 35 – 40 minutes is that okay? Um NOIT’S NOTOKAY, ya girl is hungry! No sane person can wait that long for food after slowly dehydrating in your restaurant without water! So I opted against it and asked for the mini thin crust spinach instead. Sure, he said, it’ll take about 20 – 25 minutes. «What, what, what, what?» — Macklemore 2012 I had no other back up plans so I hung my head down in defeat and went with it. Anyone who has ever made pizza in their life knows that it takes like 10 minutes to bake a regular pizza, so WHYONEARTH would it take that long to back a THIN crust SIXINCH pizza?!? Whatever, my hair turned gray, I ate my pizza, it was fine, and then I left.

I was craving pizza tonight so my husband and I ventured to University Village for Friday night date night. We are new to the area so we don’t know the top places to visit yet, but after dinner at Delfino’s tonight, I’d say I am adding this place on my list to always visit! First off, the restaurant. Such a nice place with an awesome vibe. Love the décor and the photos of old Chicago. My favorite was the lamps shaped like a folded napkin(wish I took a photo). The place was good sized… more seating in the back of the restaurant available. And of course, the food. Any pizza order takes about 15 to 20 minutes to arrive from the time you order(Tip: you can phone in your order ahead). As we were waiting for our food to arrive, our mouths were watering seeing our fellow patrons divulge their deep dish pizzas. 15 to 20 minutes were too long… BUT so worth it though! I opted to build my own pizza. Ordered a thin crust with mozzarella, grilled chicken, artichoke, and pineapple. Love! The thin crust pizza was satisfyingly crunchy… love the audible crunch with every bite. The sizes of the grilled chicken were generous and the combo just worked too well together. My husband ordered a deep dish spinach pizza. Him being originally from Chicago and usually gets picky about restaurants serving deep dish pizzas saying they’re «not the same as home,» well, he loved Delfino’s. The pizza was packed with spinach(so good). I’ve had spinach pizzas before were you couldn’t really tell it was actual spinach pizza because they weren’t enough… here at Delfino’s that is so so not the case. The spinach pizza is a must for veggie lovers! Oh, pizza comes in various sizes… mini for 1 person, small for 2 – 3 persons, and so on. We ordered mini, but after one bite, we wish we at least have ordered small… next time! :)

My wife is from Chicago and she looooves to talk about«real» deep dish. It’s been hard to find a place that meets those high standards but this place comes very close. My advice though is that you call in advance and rush the pie home to enjoy. The cafeteria style eating environment on the inside is loud, crowded and takes away from the taste of the food! They are friendly and fast and they get a thumbs up from my «Chicago native» wife.
