I’ve been shopping here for 12 years and have saved tens of thousands of dollars by doing so. Seriously. There are your normal savings of a couple bucks here and there, but then there are items that are literally 40% the cost of what you would pay at Dick’s or Cash & Carry(or 10% of the cost of Bargreen Ellingson or Seattle Restaurant Supply). This is THE place in Seattle to go for smallwares(utensils, cooking equipment, timers, floor mats, dust pans, china and plastic bowls, anything made of steel or wood, etc). Not a place for to-go stuff(except bamboo chopsticks) or large equipment. Proprietors(Danny and wife) are very nice, fair, and have been great to me for years. Highly recommended, though a lot like Trader Joes: I go there for a bunch of specific things, but can’t do all my weekly shopping there.

After digging around on the interwebs, searching for a comprehensive supplier of Asian cookware, I finally found Dong Vinh. The long bus trip across town was well worth it. I was searching for stainless steel wok shovels and ladles, both of which they stock in various sizes! I hadn’t been able to find these anywhere in the I.D. I only came for these two items, but I was like a fat kid in a candy store walking up and down the isles, checking out all their merchandise. Because they display their stock in the same boxes they shipped in, prices are not always marked on the box, but they were happy to check prices for me. Bottom line: Huge inventory of hard-to-find(and common) items, very reasonable prices, and pleasant people. I will be going back. :-D

Wow, this place is amazing. Prices like IKEA, but everything is durable and functional. 10 inch solid aluminum frying pan: $ 11. Whisk designed to to last 100 years: $ 3.89. Need a 4 foot long version to stir your cauldron-sized stock pot(also available)? No problem. All the staff were friendly and didn’t care that we were just buying a few things for home.
