I love this place. I’ve been taking cars there for almost 20 years now. Jon is great and always communicates to me if something needs to be done that is beyond what I requested, and how much it will cost. Their prices are reasonable (and I have not even been charged for some services), and they will give you a ride home, or a ride back to the garage to pick up your car (something I appreciate as a 60+ female who doesn’t like walking in the rain up a very steep hill!). Thumbs up!

They are busy so it’s going to take a couple of days to complete. I took my 2000 Jeep in for service and left it for repair. They were kind enough to offer me a ride home n/​c. I find them to be consultative and of high integrity. Work is reasonably priced

Ok, the only reason I am giving this a less than 5 rate is because Doyle’s can be tough to get into right away. That just means they’re good! I really like them. I always hesitate bringing my car into an auto shop alone but I trust them here!

I have been going to Doyle’s for at least 10 years. I was referred there by several of my co-​workers, who got tired of working on their cars on weekends. I have been very very happy with the service I’ve received. I get a good description of what the problem is and how it will be repaired. They have helped me when I was in a pinch to get to Yakima to care for a sick relative, squeezing my truck repair in on short notice. They’ve picked me up at work when I couldn’t get a ride to the shop. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs a good, honest mechanic. Although, I’m hesitant to because they are already so popular. And for good reason.

Jon has worked on both of my vehicles (a 2002 Jaguar and 1966 MG), and I will continue to go to him for any automobile woes. He is fast, fair, and friendly – truly the trifecta of automotive repair joints. I appreciate his honesty and desire to get you back on the road without requiring that you get a second mortgage to pay for the repairs. I have been nothing but happy with the service at Doyle’s and highly recommend the shop.

John & his crew have been awesome to us. I got a recommendation from a local woman who works at the Y & I found their business fair, helpful, honest and timely. Once again he got me in immediately when a check engine light went on. You can’t go wrong with this place.

Doyle’s is great! My whole family takes our cars to them, and we have never had a complaint. They are honest, friendly, and do such good work, and their prices are unbelievably good. This is a great family-​run, local business (if you live near West Seattle). I really appreciate that John comes out to tell me exactly what they did, and he never «dumbs it down».

john’s gone out of his way to do things for me, even hopping in a car and shuttling me to work a couple of miles away when they found something in my car, a couple of years back, and asked permission to keep it a couple of hours longer to get it repaired.
doyle’s is an example of high quality local business that is true to their word and fair about the prices they charge. look no further if you live in the area. you’ll be a happy west seattleite with a reliable mechanic on *this* side of the bridge.

On a recommendation by a neighbor/​friend. They are honest, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. They keep the place clean inside and out, work in a timely manner, actually talk to you and make recommendations… and they do this if you are man or woman. No perceived bias. Have had no problems on the repair work.

We have a BMW that we had been taking to BMW specialists on Capitol Hill for years. Although we got a nice clean car back after each very expensive visit, we could never get them to find the cause of this car’s habit of burning oil. This went on for years, over multiple visits. They told us that it was normal for these German cars to burn oil like this. Baloney! We had been taking our other cars to Doyle’s for years and decided to take our BMW to Doyle’s for a «Check Engine» notification on the display panel. They soon called us back with a complete diagnosis and in the process found a very obvious explanation for the car burning through the oil. Because of this issue, the engine was very close to a catastrophic failure and I can’t imagine how much money Doyle’s shop saved us.
They are competitive in their pricing and 95% of the time I am very happy with their ability to get the job done right the first time. As others have said, be prepared to have to wait 3 – 5 days to get your car scheduled for repairs. IMHO, it is absolutely worth the wait.

We had been going to Tom’s which was expensive. These guys are open, fair and do a great job. And they do all kinds of makes of cars.
The only issue I’ve had is often I can’t get my car into them in a timely manner because they’re booked out. And that can be problematic for me since I own a business and travel frequently.

Brutal, brutal brutal. Every cliché about a bad automotive service came true. No communication, took too long, and wanted lots more money to fix something they had already started. Will never go here again. You have been warned…

They’ve got my business!
We recently had a leaky tire on our Odyssey van and had it repaired by the place (in WS) where we bought the tires. All good so far. I asked them to check the brakes since I thought they were due. They called me back after checking and said that I needed brakes all the way around. It was dangerous to drive the car and the estimate was over $ 1100. Not pocket money to me so I told them thanks but no thanks, we’d park the car until I could afford it.
Enter Doyle’s (based on recommendations from our best friends). I dropped off the van asking for an estimate on the brakes. Approx. half of the other estimate AND was also told that I didn’t really need to do the rear brakes for another 4 – 6 months, they had about 25−30% life left. So, went ahead & had them take card of the front. When I asked them about the difference in estimates, the original shop had included in rear shocks which they didn’t tell me about and also was pricing new rotors. Doyle’s said that I didn’t need new rotors, the ones on my van were fine, just needed a little work.
I will definitely take my cars there in the future. They saved me $$”s on my van.

I have taken my car to Doyle’s a couple times, based on good reviews they have on Car Talk. I was disappointed each time however, and decided the last time that I would not be returning.
My car was lurching, and I told them that I thought the problem was a Mass Air Flow Sensor. They ran their diagnostic tests and found that a vacuum was missing! Now, here is what surprised me. They replaced the vacuum, but didn’t bother to call me first to let me know how much it would be or that they were doing work on the car. They just did it. They did tell me to keep an eye on the check engine light and let them know if it came on again. Luckily, it was inexpensive, so I picked up my car, so relieved to have it back.
The next day, I had planned on taking my sister to the airport. Luckily, I left very early because the car was lurching so bad that it hardly made it onto the freeway and I had to drive with the hazards on and immediately turn around and go home. I called Doyle’s and they said they could look at it again in a couple days. So, not only did they clearly not take it out and test their work, but now I have to wait for them to fix the problem that should have been fixed in the first place?
I get the car back to the shop and guess what? It was the Mass Air Flow Sensor as I had told them initially! They told me it would cost about $ 500 to replace this part, that I could put a used part in, but they wouldn’t trust it. My thought– as a shop, don’t you know how to find a good used part? On top of this, when I went in to pick up the car, the price suddenly changed to it would have cost me $ 600+! Fishy, if you ask me. They knew I was planning to sell the car, so they recommended cash for clunkers without fixing it. I found the necessary part, used but under warranty on eBay and installed it myself (30 minutes of labor) and it all cost me $ 45. My car works fine now, and I can sell it for quite a bit more with the part in.
Apparently, a pregnant 30-​year-​old woman who knows practically nothing about cars can do better shopping for good used parts than this shop can…

These guys are GREAT! I have been going to Doyle’s exclusively for a couple of years, and they keep my almost 13 year old car running very well. As a woman who knows nothing about cars, I trust them fully. They don’t take advantage of you, nor do they recommend services you don’t need. John is very honest and responsive. He takes the time to explain what’s wrong with the car, what work needs to be done to fix the problem and I never feel like I’m being taken for a ride. I recommend them highly.
