Enormous restaurant on Post Alley. The mole enchiladas were decent and filling. I would’ve liked a little bit more kick to the salsa. Service was very nice! Sad to say, today is their last day in business. Rising costs… you know how it goes. At least I got to eat there once.

Bland bland bland. Service is okay but did was meh. Carne Asada had not flavor and was tough. Beans was boring. I would pass.

I love this place! My husband works nearby so he comes here more often than I do but I still come here about twice a month. The salsa is delicious and just spicy enough. I always get the Carne asada plate and it’s authentic and tasty. Drinks are great too!

I have never written a Unilocal review, but had a really special experience here tonight. I left my wallet sitting on top of my car parked on western ave, and Estefan, am employee in the kitchen found it, attempted to contact me, and tracked me down as i reparked the car. I came into the restaurant for a thank you drink and found the service great and will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

Maybe Seattle is far from Mexico but it shouldn’t be an excuse for terrible Mexican food. Visiting from denver. Even our worse restaurants have this place best. They’re pretty empty on a Sat evening. Maybe they should change the food and business will pick up. Good luck.

First and last time I went there I ordered a much needed margarita it came with a hair in it… got a replacement from the very nice waitress and it tasted like… soap or something, it was off. Chips were stale and our fajitas were just okay. Very disappointed because we were on vacation and really was looking forward to a good Mexican dinner.

For what it’s worth, this place has great happy hour prices. Had a full meal of beef and cheese filled quesadillas($ 5) and a plate of their 3 carne tacos($ 5). Do the math, and that’s an entrée for only 10 bucks. I’ll take it! The flavor is average on the tacos; meat was a little tough, and they smothered the top with an unnecessary amount of onions, which isn’t my thing unless they’re grilled or sautéed. The red sauce though saved the day, so good recovery there. The quesadillas however were very well made – beef was fresh off the grill and the tortillas were just crispy enough to compliment the slightly moist texture of the beef. Would come back here with a group for happy hour. The bar is huge! Location is a bit awkward right off an alleyway, but the service makes up for it.

If you live in Seattle, this is pretty much your standard, middling Mexican food. Nothing fancy, nothing awful. Kinda spendy and the healthier options are not offered in the more affordable lunch options. Chicken filling for a quesadilla is more than spinach? Don’t get that.

Blah tasteless food That was only helped by dumping salsa on it then I get the check and there was an extra charge for extra salsa. Really that is the only thing that made the food palatable. The waiter had his thumb in my beans when he served them to me. Waste of time and money coming to this place. Love it when I’m right about a crappy place and they close down feels like a win

Subpar food, we saw our server twice and there were six people in the entire restaurant. Margaritas are not authentic, very sour. We really wanted to like it since we live so close. They managed to open the beer bottles… about the only compliment I can provide.

Food was good and service was great! … however, I puked everything I ate just 30 min ago. Something must have went wrong. I rarely ever puke and I’m not sick. That leads me to conclude food poisoning… So I suppose mixed feelings at this point.

I’ve got to say this place could have been a lot better. Prices are downtown-oriented(which is to say quite high for a Mexican food joint). Food was served hot and was competent but nothing more. Service was actually pretty poor — took us five minutes to get seated — and then by the barman because the waitresses had«waitress eyes» — you know the kind — they do everything but look at you because if they did they would have to help you? So. at best middle of the road food and poor service say I can only give the place two stars.

I wanted to like this place. The servers were friendly and very fast with our food and drinks. Our food was hot and made as ordered. It was good, but lacked anything outstanding. However, I really suspect our drinks(margarita and mojito) were watered down or totally lacking alcohol altogether. Also, our friend asked for a glass of water four times and never got one. I understand being in a hurry with lots of tables. Like I said, I wanted to like this place, but this visit didn’t go very well. I don’t think I have a reason to try it again.

The chili verdi is so good. I really like the service and think I’ll be back many times. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff is warm and happy. I am a fan of good Tex-Mex, and the have very good recipes and presentation.

This was a very slow happy hour Saturday with great service but food that was not well seasoned or fresh tasting. Other than strong drinks I would see no real reason to return if food ordering is involved.

Really mediocre Mexican food. I do NOT know why people would rave about this, it’s kinda like Azteca on hipster steroids or something. No, it’s not that cool, cooler than Azteca, but still, it’s got that ultra-grigo thing going for it. Quesadilla was remarkably unremarkable, really, really standard. The rice and beans on the other hand, well, they were rice and beans! I bet you’ve had something strangely similar! Great salsa though. I would come back to Malecon if someone specifically invited for an event, where I couldn’t be, like, «hey, how about we go somewhere else?» There are a LOT of great places downtown, therefore, I don’t get this. Mexican grocery with homemade tamales. What are you doing here? Oh, right, you’re downtown and creating the Azteca experience. You won’t regret going here unless you have somewhere better in mind! It’s just okay! Thanks for listening!

I went here the other night. The waitress was friendly and the service was fast which was nice. The food was a disappointment, though. The chips were cold. I’m use to warm chips at most Mexican restaurants like Azteca. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, it was way to sweet and tasted more like Strawberry juice than strawberry lemonade. For my entrée I ordered a Chicken Burrito Withe enchilada sauce. There was too much sauce and it had a weird taste to it. The chicken was good, but the sauce messed it up. Maybe they are more known for there drinks. But I had better Mexican food than this, though.

El Malecon was surprisingly good! A bunch of us went here recently when we were taking advantage of free museum day at MOHAI. We were going to go down near the piers to eat but our hunger must have swayed the tide on that collective decision and so we went into El Malecon. We all sat down and devoured their chips and salsa. For dinner I ordered a combination of an enchilada with red sauce and a chile relleno. The enchilada was quite good but what was even better was the chile relleno. Very tasty! My meal however was not made the overall dining experience most magical. It was Steven’s meal. He ordered enchiladas with mole sauce on it. Oh my goodness! That mole sauce was so good! That in of itself is worth going back for many happy returns. And yes… I have made El Malecon one of my «go to» Mexican restaurants for Seattle!

It’s alright, compared with others using price & quality… I would visit again. My friend found the steak fajitas a bit tough and my chicken Asado Burrito was… not typical(good & bad). All in all… you get what you pay for. Have those expectations and you’ll leave full and content. Service gets 2 stars.
