I ordered some take out pizza which I picked up and took home. When I got home I discovered they had put a wrong topping on it so I called them. The waitress told me they would make me a new pizza so I drove back to the restaurant. I was directed to the bartender who was unable to find my pizza because they had ordered it under someone else’s name. I was then asked by the bartender, «Are you sure you’re not ____?» In case I had just forgotten my own name… Eventually they took the other pizza and I was given the right pizza. I understand that mistakes happen, but considering it took me an extra hour to call them, wait for them to bake a new pizza, drive to the restaurant, wait for them to find my order, then drive home it would have been nice to have been offered something… a drink, $ 5 off… something. Moral of the story, check your pizza in the restaurant, don’t expect them to get it right and don’t expect them to apologize if they get it wrong. Two stars because they pizza itself wasn’t terrible… once I got the right one.

good pizza, especially outside. The server, on a Saturday afternoon, was in a hurry and talked to us like a robot with rehearsed lines. I will come again but I wish there was more of a sense of genuine caring. I left a smaller tip as a result.

We are a family that includes some New Yorkers, and finding good pizza is hard for us in Seattle. We often turn to Flying Squirrel for great-tasting pizzas with fresh seasonal toppings and a reasonably crispy crust(though that could be improved — try using New York water :-) We love their beer list and salads, too. We also like the atmosphere — it is family friendly but also feels like a «nice» restaurant. The squirrel coloring pages are the best! But the tables aren’t covered in sticky Diet Coke residue. Great combo. The only downsides are the slow-ish service and the wait times, but that is partly a function of its popularity and the fact that it is located in an area without tons of other restaurants nearby. I’m glad they are in Maple Leaf! One of our family’s favorites.

It was my birthday, so my husband and I decided to splurge on some higher-end pizza. We tried to call in and order twice, and the woman managing the phones put us on hold and promptly forgot about us twice. We stayed on the line both times and listened to her conversation with other customers(apparently she forgot to mute it) for over 10 minutes. In between our calls, she didn’t hang up the phone so we couldn’t get through to even order for another 10 minutes. In the past, we have enjoyed their pizza, but this time we eventually gave up and ordered elsewhere– this place wasn’t worth the hassle.

MP’s review sure made me laugh. If you took one look at her pic and thought, that pizza looks perfectly cooked, then you(like me) will be happy that you have finally found one of the few places in this city that doesn’t serve limp, undercooked pizza. I love Flying Squirrel for that!

They gave us three visibly blackened pizzas that weren’t even edible. We would’ve gone back to complain with the thin, dry, charred cardboard, but they were closed by the time we got the stuff home. Like other customer service style complaints in these reviews, they can’t possibly care about their product and customer base if they’re willing to hand over garbage x 3 without flinching. It’s not like they were slammed and it was a slip up, we were the only customers in there on a Saturday night. Now I know why!

Got the chopped salad, cheesy bread and split a pizza. Omg so good. We built our own with their large selection and it was amazing. Just moved to the neighborhood and I am so glad this place is so close by because I will be here often. Talia was our waitress/bartender and she was so sweet and knowledgeable. Great experience.

Our Neighborhood go-to for pizza. The pies are well made and have that wonderful brick oven flavor. Unfortunately they’re a little hit and miss. We’ve had mostly amazing pies, but also some that were burnt beyond what should’ve been served and one that seemed like it had been someone else’s mistake that they pawned off on us(tasted a couple hours old). We usually take out and walk the mile back home, so we’ve just dealt with it instead of asking for returns/replacements. I wouldn’t be so disappointed if they weren’t so amazing every other time. Overall, still a great place though.

Love this place! Their wood fire pizza is DELICIOUS. The only thing is, it’s pricy. However, if you’re looking for quality food and quality service, you’ll absolutely get it here.

The ambiance was exactly what I was looking for and the pizza is pretty darn good. Stopped by on a one off while I was on the North End of town. Had easily accessible street parking and many specialty pizzas. I would recommend to all!

Pizza & service from Thalia actually 4 stars but the large amount of families with loud children kinda ruined the ambiance for husband & I out on a Friday night date night. Specifically the child that was allowed to bang on the table. There were other quiet well behaved children & I understand families need a place to go too. No worries I will just order to go & pickup next time. Hubby and I scored a parking spot right out front & one of the last tables available at 6pm on a busy Friday night. We started with the large chop chop salad to share. Pretty tasty but it would benefit from a vinaigrette dressing instead of ranch. For our pie we ordered Canadian bacon, black olives & mushrooms. It was cooked perfectly. Very easily could have devoured the whole thing but wisely brought half of it home to enjoy today.

This is perfect for a family with young kids, especially in summer. I’ve been going for years now. Their pizzas are consistently great.

We have been meaning to get to Flying Squirrel since we moved nearby last year and finally made it tonight — glad we did! The restaurant has a new general manager(as of 6 months ago) and he was fantastic — he was looking out for all the tables and ensured that we had prompt refills on drinks, water, etc… The restaurant was reasonably busy but we didn’t have to wait long at all for our food — everything was timed perfectly. — Started with the arugula salad which had fantastic flavor and was dressed perfectly — Had a second appetizer of cheese bread with house-made marinara and house-made ranch as sides which was also awesome — For our entrée we had the seasonal pizza with butternut squash, caramelized shallots and a few other toppings I can’t remember. This was delicious! All three were fantastic! We topped them off with house-made chocolate chip cookies which were delicious but could have been taken to the next level if served warm! We don’t have kids yet but the restaurant was very family friendly — the tables with kids got coloring supplies and breadsticks right away. For the adults there is also a full bar. I liked that the tables were far enough apart that each group had some privacy — we didn’t feel crowded at all. They also have two big-screen TVs showing sports as well. This will be one of our neighborhood staples and we can’t wait to go back!

such a wonderful first meal in seattle! half & half pizza was a perfect option for the more indecisive patrons(such as ourselves!), and the Irish Squirrel Float(Guinness & homemade vanilla ice cream) was one hell of a memorable finish. service, however, was the part of this experience that made it so great. Beau tended to all the tables himself, and ensured that all diners were well taken care off. super great food and even more incredible staff – definitely would recommend!

I love Flying Squirrel, I’ve been going for years since finding this gem at Genesee. I’ve even visited the Ballard location before it closed. However this one will be forever avoided going forward. We came in after 7 hours on the road hungry and looking for a drink. It was clearly too busy for the servers(been there, understand that) but 20 min just to get our drink(let alone food) does not bode well. It was a full hour after ordering before our food came out. And please don’t give me excuses about why it took so long when you’re serving others ahead of us. If you can’t support your clientele, at least be honest with the expected wait.

As a Cap Hill kid it feels blasphemous to call any pizza place better than Pagliacci, so I’ll just let you draw your own conclusions. This place is delicious 100% of the time. I’m generally a no crust person but I could eat their crust sold separately. I do wish they had a location that did slices, I would grab lunch from that place everyday. Their staff is great, it’s true like some others have said that the place is often overrun by kids, but the slice location would solve that problem. They will also have delivery at my hypothetical location.

I would give these guys a five if they delivered. The crust is just a tad thicker than a lot of the neapolitan style pizzas that have sprouted all over Seattle(not saying that’s a bad thing) so it’s still a great thin crust but with just a little more bite.

Our whole family loves this place. Yes, on the pricey side, but it’s certainly in the running for best pizza in town. The staff are all great, the beer is fresh, and best of all, it’s super kid friendly(the kids love it). I also love that they now have personal size pies; perfect for ordering the kids their own pizza while the adults enjoy more of the creative offerings. Yum!

Some truth talk here: I love pizza. Good or bad, if it’s pizza, I’ll eat it. I have been known to eat dry, overcooked pizza with a cardboard dough and while complaining about how inedible it is, I’ll continue to eat it. Fortunately for me, this neighborhood joint doesn’t just have edible pizza. It’s actually pretty darn good. The restaurant also has a nice neighborly feel. Never too crowded but also never so empty that it just feels awkward to be lone diners. I’ve had them deliver pizza to me once. I’ve also visited the establishment once. Both times, I was pretty impressed. Their delivery was very prompt and service was very courteous. I was sharing with a vegetarian friend and was not left wanting meat. We did half the REM and half the Count Basil and loved it. I came in recently with a friend. We enjoyed their personal pizzas(we ordered two different kinds and split them). We ordered the no. 3 which was a more classic pizza with house made sausage and that was probably my favorite. We also had the no. 5 which was a little less traditional and more inventive. It was delicious. I love carnitas but was worried that in pizza form, it might be dried up. I was fortunately wrong. It was scrumptious. We also loved their modest but well-selected beers on tap.

Flying squirrels are not capable of powered flight like birds or bats; instead, they glide between trees. Dis is hella family restaurant. kids runnin all over da place. and this one kid lookin at me like i sprouted wings on me. I wasn’t able to glide the freshly-ingrediented arugula salad into mah mouf, cuz they didn’t provide us with enough forks by the time it arrived. I brushed up mah knife skillz tho. Our water ended up getting refilled only one time during the entire dinner. THATBEINGSAID… The NUMBAH9 is probably one of the best pizzas I ever had. we talmbout: chicken sausage, laura chenel goat cheese, mama lil’s Peppers, spinach, mozzarella, sauce. we talmbout, cheese, cheese, cheese, and CHEESE. UPINTHIS. you know it’s real when you take the pizza from the dish, put it on yr plate, and the cheese act like a tightrope across niagara falls cuz i’m fuckin salivating over here. you could wrap dis cheese around the earth 8 times and feed the obese nation of MURICA over and over and over… we talmbout, combinations of flavors that will get you confident and lovin yrself. The menu has great variety… each pizza is unique and you’ll find something for each hater in yr crew. Except for the Surfin’ Squirrel: zoe’s artisan ham, fresh hand-cut pineapple, mozzarella, sauce; just call dat shit hawaiian and get on with yr lyfe. Decent 4 outta 5

I was here last night about 8:00PM. It wasn’t too busy but wasn’t busy either. The atmosphere is of a local, neighborhood joint(which I personally enjoy). Kind of pricey but still pretty good. We had one of the seasonal taps,(21st Amendment’s Sneak Attack Saison). We had the #2(pepperoni and garlic). It was delicious. I prefer thicker crust pizza, but my boyfriend swears it is the closest style you will get to an East Coast Pizza out here. We finished the meal with some Key Lime Pie, and it was pretty fantastic.

I would consider myself a pretty big pizza snob. I have it a least once a week, and I’ve been touring the city looking for the best pizza in town. So when I found this place on yet and read some reviews I was super excited, especially since it is so close to my place. turns out this place is super overrated, I would normally rate this place two out of five but since I think the average is over inflated I wanted to bring it down some more. Dough was ok, meat was average, sauce was too tangy, couldn’t even taste the cheese, a little over cooked, and WAYOVERPRICED. I had high hopes for this place. I really wanted it to be good, I even tried to convince myself it was good, but just couldn’t do it. Overall I wouldn’t recommend it, I won’t be going here again.

This past weekend my girlfriend and I were hankering for some pizza, so we decided to try a place we’d never been. I had heard good things about Flying Squirrel, so we decided to give it a go. It did not disappoint! We arrived at the dinner rush, and it was unclear at first where the waitlist was and if we needed to speak to a server. A waiting customer was nice enough to point us in the direction of the waitlist that was hanging inconspicuously on the wall hidden behind some menus. Ten minutes later and we were at a table drooling over the menu. We went with the Booker T, which is a spring seasonal pizza with chicken, tomato and other fixings on a creamy garlic sauce. Wonderful. Service was great, and an employee even chased us down the street to bring us our leftovers that we had forgotten on the table! My one comment that isn’t completely positive would be the underwhelming beer selection, but I understand given the neighborhood and the family-friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

LOVE this place! They make an amazing vegan(cheese-less) pizza with zucchini & olives, are fast, inexpensive and delicious! My husband loves the Mothership(meat orgy) and the pulled pork/cilantro. If you haven’t tried this place, you are missing out.

This is a great place, with good quality pizza. Nice thin crust, quality ingredients, and reasonable prices. I had The Charles, and was very happy with my selection. It is very kid friendly as well. Overall, a great place. Check it out!
