Whenever I’m in Seattle, I always crave Fort St. George for some reason. It’s excellent, cheap, home-style Japanese fusion food. Maybe I love it so much because it satisfies my craving for Asian and Italian food all at once hahah! Every dish that I have tried here, I really enjoyed. You think cheese is weird with rice? Think again, it’s delicious! When I was young, I used to melt cheese on rice(with Korean food lol) and my friends always thought it was the weirdest thing. But, you will know what I’m talking about when you try their doria dish. It’s a Japanese-style risotto with your choice of meat or veggie. It’s a plate of amazing cheesy goodness!(Warning, it will only be good if you actually like cheese, obviously). Their spaghetti is just plain with traditional meat sauce but it really hits the spot for some reason! I don’t know why I like it so much. The hamburger steak is also delicious, it’s an Asian fusion of a meat loaf! Just try it. You can’t beat the price and the portions are pretty hefty. The interior is outdated and old, so it’s not a place you come to enjoy the atmosphere. It’s probably more of a quick bite kind of place in my opinion. They actually have a pretty good selection of interesting cocktails(most are on the sweeter side) if you feel like having a drink! The restaurant is a little hidden on the second floor so you might have a hard time finding it. But there is a noticeable pink neon sign on their window that you can see from outside. I don’t know what it is about you, Fort St. George, but you put a spell on me, I’m definitely a huge, huge fan.

This place is hidden inside a random building, but once you come here you’ll keep coming back! I always order their classic spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic mayo. Their spaghetti is unique, and not like the kind you would get at an Italian restaurant. Their katsu and curry are also good! Sometimes they will have a katsu special that comes with salad, rice, some spaghetti. Everything is just deliciously made!

Hit or miss with the food, sometimes it’s great sometimes it’s not, today my pork katsu was dry and bland… I just ate around the crust… P. s. Spagetti was undercooked for my husbands dish

Food was okay, but I give one star for their poor customer service. I went there with two of my friends around 7pm on Saturday night. It was quite busy but luckily we got seated right away. There were two servers(female and male), and the male server was nice and warm. However, the young female server was very unfriendly and put a dumper on our experience. She threw menus at us and left us for a while without coming back. When she finally came to take our order, we ordered three hamburger steak plates and one drink. The drink came out pretty quickly. However, we had to wait for our food for a loooong time. When the food arrived at our table, we noticed we were missing one more plate. We asked the waitress if the other one was coming soon and she said«Oh you wanted three? You only ordered two.» Well all of us were sure that we ordered three but she didn’t wanna admit it and instead argued back to us with an attitude. Of course with no apologies. After she left our table, we even saw her complaining about us to other servers/cooks. We felt very uncomfortable and disrespected. She asked the male server to take care of our table afterwards so we didn’t interact with her anymore. I have worked as a waitress too so I understand we sometimes make mistakes and forget people’s orders. Or maybe she was just having a bad day. However, regardless of the reasons, her attitude was not acceptable as a server. Hope someone trains her to be a better server.

It’s Saturday. It’s 12:00(noon) and this place isn’t open for lunch as it says on Unilocal and website. Nothing is posted on the door about being closed. Bummer for the business! I would say call ahead but the phone just rings inside…

I’ve been coming to this place since I was a child and it’ll always have a sweet place in my heart. Therefore I’m very biased, this home style Japanese food is comforting for my stomach and heart :) Come to this place expecting a bar atmosphere but a homey cozy vibe. Their food is delicious if you like home style cooking. Nothing gourmet but they have some dishes you can’t find at any Japanese restaurant. The service is always welcoming and hospitable. My favorites: mango cream soda(SODELICIOUS), omu rice(omelet over special fried rice), egg sandwich, chicken katsu curry.

Fort St. George is a cute, hidden nook on the second floor of an office building close to Uwajimaya. This is a casual place that specializes in yoshoku(Western-style Japanese food). The boyfriend ordered the enoki mushroom, chicken, soy sauce pasta($ 10) and I ordered the tarako(cod roe) pasta($ 10.50). The enoki mushroom pasta was alright, but the tarako pasta was delicious! I crave Japanese-Italian food on the regular and this definitely hit the spot!

It is a nice casual place to grab a bite to eat. This place gets packed during Century Link events, but other than that, it is pretty low key. My go-to here is the spaghetti with garlic mayo. The hamburg steak, doria, and omurice are not bad choices either. Their bar is open pretty late. but the kitchen closes at 9PM I believe.

Cool spot, and hidden away upstairs. I would recommend you really read through the menu because there are some very creative items, particularly the ‘Italian’ pasta dishes with a distinctive Japanese take. I came here with a fairly large group and we were able to get a big table for all of us.

I never had this kind of food until Fort St. George. There’s something very homey about the food here I just love it. Fusion food is a huge trend lately but sometimes a lot of places overdo the fusion aspect of it and it just becomes this like science fair project test. Fort St. George keeps their food humble despite it being fusion. I have never had or let alone heard of ‘doria’ before this place. I love their bacon and mushroom doria. you would think creaminess with Asian rice is gross but no, it’s sooooo good. It’s like a baked, Asian risotto. Soooo good. Wow now I’m craving some right now! I’ve also tried their spaghetti and I have no idea why because there are plenty of spaghetti places but… I strangely love their spaghetti haha. Their katsu is also very good. The location is in the heart of International District. You have to go up the stairs to the restaurat, it seems run down, but it’s not. It’s a very cozy little place. I really need to get myself to Fort St. George… I am drooling just thinking about it!

what the?! i just realized my original review only gave this place 3 stars. i’ve been coming here for about half my life, i’d say that«yay, i’m a fan» is a more appropriate description. everything is consistent here and that’s comforting. i know what i’m getting and there’s no surprises. woot. service can be spotty but not horrible. drinks are crazy stiff(when my pal is working. lol!). food quality is always the same, i’ve never experienced an off day here. i keep coming back because it’s a neighborhood spot and we’ve had a ton of fun here.

Comfort-diner style Japanese food. I’ve never had it but after the first try– not too shabby! As far as giving traditional American dishes a creative and flavorful spin, very nice. I liked it. We had the spaghetti w meat sauce and garlic mayo, Japanese hamburger steak and spicy fried chicken. However, our spaghetti was not warm :(and the hamburger steak was kinda too rare for our tastes. The drinks were alright. I got the King Grape an my friend got the Mango Mojito. Personally I think it’s a little steep considering the size of the drink. We seemed ignored by the waitress after we got our food so it took a while to get our check. All in all it was an okay experience. I would come back to try the other spaghetti dishes!

I found this place after a couple of failed attempts to locate a spot for dinner in the neighborhood I’m staying in. I’m so glad I did! The place is pretty quaint and there was plenty of room at the bar so that’s where I planted myself. The bartender, Mike, was kind enough to let me juice up my phone next to his beat laboratory by the bar. The menu was totally random to me. I could get a cheeseburger, spaghetti, garlic chicken, breaded salmon. It just seemed like a hodge podge of basics. I asked Mike what I should get– he said to go for the spaghetti with garlic mayo. Apparently that is a legit bar food in Japan. Who knew? Anyway, that’s what I ordered and a side salad with the house sesame dressing. The salad was baby size and I enjoyed the dressing. The spaghetti was great. It was a pretty massive potion, of which there was none left when I got done with it :) I don’t eat spaghetti very often, but going forward I’m going to need some garlic mayo on that. The best part about this whole dining experience was the people. This place has a Carl’s(dive bar in Des Moines, IA) kind of feel and I love it! Two of the bartenders friends came in and sat next to me. They wanted to know how the hell I ended up at Fort St George… That’s a good sign. I wanted to be off the beaten path and so it is. We chatted a bit and I came away with a list of the local favorites for the rest of my trip. It seemed a handful of people in there were familiar with the bar and Mike. I don’t know what this place is like when Mike’s not working but if you find yourself around here– stop in!

Decided to pick up some green tea tiramisu for a good friends birthday. Came across a review on their cake and I decided to give it a shot. My first all that I placed, I asked if they sold a whole cake of the GT tiramisu but they said no. That’s when I decided to go for 5 slices instead. The GT tiramisu was ok, I’m sure there are better ones out there. The cake itself was light and fluffy but lacks the green tea flavor along with the«tiramisu» effect. What was a huge disappointment was the presentation/packaging. Maybe I should’ve asked for them to be placed in one container? Maybe they should’ve known? There are so many factors to it but because I didn’t ask, shame on me. There’s that saying. «Closed mouths don’t get fed.» Probably would be back for the food(although it has been quite some time since my last visit) but if I were to be back, I’m passing up on the GT tiramisu.

There’s just something about Fort Saint George that makes me intensely happy. Maybe it’s the cute décor, the service, or the food(it’s definitely the food), but this place has a soft spot in my heart. I’ve been here a handful of times now, mainly for lunch I think? Or dinner, not super sure, but their menus do change throughout the day. Who cares? The food is still A+++. Service is awesome, the servers were always attentive and kept out waters filled, even when it was busy. Food is AMAAAAAZING. so good that I could cry. I’ve had the spaghetti meat sauce with garlic mayo, omurice/ketchup fried rice with omelet, and hamburger steak. I also tried a bit of the bacon and mushroom doria. And lemme just say… I don’t have a favorite cause I can’t pick! All the food I’ve had has been exceptional. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants.

I stumbled on this place because one of my Japanese friends loves this place. The design of this place is haphazard at best. But even once taking in the surroundings, I was excited to try out the food. There is no sushi here, it’s more of a «Japanese Denny’s» according to my friend. I ordered the lunch entrée($ 9.25) wih garlic pepper chicken. It comes wih miso soup, rice, macoroni salad, and a green salad. Miso was standard, yummy and comforting. The rice was plain white rice but I had no sauce on my chicken to mix it with. The chicken was yummy!!! Not very spicy but savory and flavorful. The macoroni salad was like pasta tossed in mayonase. Barely any taste. I barely touched it. The green salad was wonderful. Nice deep-green romaine with a nice vinaigrette. I left still hungry and a little confused. Maybe it’s a cultural thing? Or maybe I ordered the wrong thing? I would be willing to try a different dish if there are recommendations.

Amazing Japanese comfort food. Comfort Food = Cheesy, Meaty, Starchy goodness. Why Fort St. George does it well? They combine all the necessities of what makes good comfort food, combine it all, add a generous amount of garlic mayo = excellent delivery. All the dishes have distinct different tastes. Ketchup Fried Rice with Omelette, and the Spaghetti with meat sauce, completely different from each other. Both, individually, a masterpiece all on its own. You get the fresh taste of tomatoey in the fried rice, and the fluffy, milky goodness in the eggs. The spaghetti is more savory, and garlicy, and intense beef flavor. But even with the intense beef flavors. you can’t go wrong by adding another japanese hamburguh! «trying to say that with an accent» on top. Mmmmm. even the two different beefs are different in flavors and creates a different experience on your palette. Don’t like japanese hamburguh? first… shut up. Yes you do. But maybe you’ve had too much of it for the last week. don’t fret, there are many other varieties of add ons :) Fort St. George’s don’t discriminate on your proteins. Chicken, Pork. they gotchu. And their katsu’s are all done very nicely. Service is always good and attentive. And never really have to wait to get served. Go eat now. Noommiesss!~ $ 9 – 11 per dish. Money well spent. My tummy is happy.

I used to eat here all the time in college! This used to be one of those restaurants that allowed smoking and everyone came here to light one up with their meal lol(Cigarrette of course!). I am no longer a smoker but yeah this place still reminds me of those days. My favorite dish is bacon and mushroom Doria. It’s SOOOOGOOOOD in terms of taste, smell, and aroma, but it’s a gut bomb for sure. I am sure it’s like over 2000 Calories lol. I haven’t been here in a while until today. I went there for lunch. I ordered the lunch special which came with spaghetti, rice and two entrees. I choose Hamburger steak and pork cutlet. All were yummy. Hamburger steak had a bit too much onions but that was alright. This combo was only $ 8.25. Good deal. They take credit cards — not sure if they take Amex though.

Fort St. George is located right near Gossip bubble tea. It’s on second floor in a plaza-esque building. Came here with a friend on a wednesday night around 6. It wasn’t too busy at first but it got busier as the night went. Considering that I had not eaten anything all day, anything I would have eaten at this point would have been delicious. We tried the potato croquette, shrimp and mushroom doria, and pork katsu curry spaghetti. Potato croquette came with a side salad made up of iceberg lettuce, corn, onion and some italian dressing. The croquette was creamy, buttery and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Shrimp and mushroom doria. I didn’t know what to expect, considering that I have never tried a doria, but it was good! It was like a creamy rice risotto/gratin with shrimp, mushroom and other veggies. The pork katsu curry spaghetti was great. It came with a side salad and the portion was huge. The spaghetti was al dente which make the pasta pleasurably chewy. The sauce wasn’t too distinct or different than other japanese curry I’ve tried in the pasta. TL;DR: Good place to get western/japanese food, reasonable price, relax chill, has a good cocktail selection.

There are not many places out there that serve Western-style Japanese food(yoshoku), so I’m quite happy that FSG is a short walk away from me! A few favorites from their extensive menu include: Omurice Spicy Fried Chicken Enoki Mushroom & Chicken w/Soy Sauce Butter Spaghetti In regards to the spaghetti dishes — the noodles are perfectly al dente every time! AMAZING! Overall, you will find that everything on the menu is pretty freaking tasty! Make sure you check out the specials board because they have some great stuff on there! Service can be a bit slow if you are there for lunch(it is not much of a concern for me for dinner), but I have made it a habit to study the menu before heading there and making sure to look at the specials board before being seated. By the time I am seated I have placed my order while other patrons are still going over the menu! Most dishes will run from $ 8 -$ 10 and will come with a small salad, spaghetti and miso soup. I can’t believe that they’ve been around since 1993! Quite a testament for a place that is located off the beaten path — the second floor of the Howard Dong Building on the corner of 6th Avenue and South King Street. You enter on the 6th Avenue side and walk up the circular staircase and the restaurant is on the left hand side. To recap: Damn! Dude has eaten here a lot!
