This is a beautiful and well-curated gallery that makes a great stop on the Pioneer Square Art Walk. It’s a little more upscale than the other Art Walk galleries but it’s nice to mix it up with the more upscale galleries and the artist lofts. They are currently exhibiting some very interesting sculpture from Will Robinson heavily; we also enjoyed Bobbie Burgers paintings. We came because I wanted to see Michael Wolf’s work and specifically, The Architecture of Density. We saw many beautiful pieces but when we didn’t see Wolf’s work, the man took us to the back room! The back room is an adventure in and of itself! It was amazing to see what else was held back there and he took us to see two Wolf pieces including the specific one I wanted to see. The staff here was very helpful when I called beforehand and in person. All in all, I definitely recommend stopping by Foster/White!

This is a must-see stop for me on First Thursdays. Foster/White has a huge, airy, well-lit space that is outstanding for showing large 2-D works and sculptures in various media, and they use the space very well. And many of the openings they’ve had in recent months(George Rodriguez, Rachel Denny, Tony Angell, Ben Darby, and Robert Marchessault to name a few) have been outstanding. Alas, I’m going to have to start winning lotteries fairly often before I could afford to buy anything from most of their shows, but thankfully they are an exquisite place to view this wonderful work.

I adore this art gallery. Last visited a week ago and that was my first time having truly spent adequate time enjoying the entire space. They are currently exhibiting Tony Angell and Paul Vexler. I admired the flat, patterned sculptures by Vexler as well as his tall, spiraling wood sculptures that twist and manipulate light to shine a certain way. I strolled upstairs to find Jessica Drenk’s delicate sculpture made entirely out of pencils. Throughout the space, they also displayed Guy Laramée’s carved books — his creative metaphor for the degradation of human culture. I’m in love with Rachel Denny’s «Tangled» piece they have displayed in the center towards the back — a life-sized deer wrapped in turquoise cashmere cable knit wool that comes undone on a wooden pole. I also loved the layout of the space itself. My friend and I kept gushing about how perfectly arranged the interior is. It had both a grand and striking character but also a warm and cozy feel. The gallery associate couldn’t be more welcoming and sweet — personable yet professional. I now have a new goal of visiting Foster/White every month for each new exhibit/rotation.

Beautiful Art gallery featuring stunning works by Robert Marchessault. Again, it felt as though I was in a contemporary art museum… lets say the Tate… only smaller, less contemporary, less variation, no political statements, no interactive exhibits… but it did have white walls! Maybe the Tate isn’t a good example, but I still recommend a brisk walk through. Cheers!
