Freggies

Not worth the money by any means! Spent $ 40.00 on what was supposed to be a discounted box for being a Burien local, what I got was Broccoli that was already turning yellow, dried out Chard, overall the produce received was NOT WORTH IT!
I tried to complain via email no response so here is my negative review of Freggies
Much more worth my time to shop for my own produce as at least I know what I will be getting.

I actually have a ton of reviews, but lost my password so I’m starting all over again. Veggie roulette indeed! One of the things I love about this service is that I immediately go to
to figure out what to do. Who knew I would love eggplant? So wonderful! And pizza-​chini (zucchini hollowed out with pizza fixin’s) — I also found an easy recipe for kale chips… and don’t get me started on the mangoes… I lived in Asia for years, and these are as buttery-​delicious as the ones I bought every morning on my way to school. Freggies serves a great need, at a reasonable cost, especially good for my roomie, who had cancer and was pretty much house-​bound.

Even though the owner is a raw and living foodist who used diet to cure stage-​four terminal cancer, the food I received hardly reflects this. Mostly potatoes and onions. Where’s the sulphurophane? I understand it is winter, but greens are beautifully in season right now! It just seems like the mixed boxes are more geared toward someone following th Standard American Diet (SAD)…which is fine, now that I know, but what sold this to me was the owner’s story… I thought that surely someone who has been to Hallelujiah Acres would at least include some kale in my box! I am trying to handle an illness with diet myself, but I could not do this with a Freggie’s mixed box. I basucally received a box of starch.
The other reviews about the state greens end up in after a day of being squished under bagels (??!) and potatoes make me hesitant to custom order greens from them.

I’ve used 3 different CSAs in the past 3 years. Prior to switching to Freggies I was using Full Circle. We’ve been very happy with Freggies.
In general I’m a big fan of produce delivery to the door. I pay maybe $ 5 more than I might pay at PPC, but I don’t have to spend an hour going to the store and thinking about what to get and overspending on random things. That alone is worth way more than $ 5 to me.
Pricing is on par with the other CSA delivery services. We’ve gotten the $ 40 box for about 8 months now. We used to get a $ 36 box when we were with Full Circle, and the Freggies box has slightly more stuff so that is about equal.
Food quality has been slightly better than Full Circle. Around the time we switched in Spring 2012, Full Circle has sent us three straight boxes that were full of fruit and green leafy vegetables that were about to go bad. Since being with Freggies, I’d say less than 5% of our produce has been within a day or two of going bad. It was more like 15% with Full Circle.

Like others, I received the LivingSocial coupon which was a great deal. Unfortunately I was really unimpressed. First off, you do not get to choose what’s in your box. For the first two boxes we received, we got lots of beets and grapefruit, along with cabbage, kale, some tomatoes, peppers, and a few (disappointingly tiny) peaches. We (my wife and I) don’t usually eat cabbage and beets so we had to be creative in how to use it. We also both hate grapefruit so it was kind of wasteful.
However, the main reason I am giving this company two stars is on quality. We were so disappointed by what we saw. Some of the peaches and peppers arrived moldy and a lot of the other produce looked old. We could find better produce at our local grocer. We called Freggies and they gave us credit on our account for future purchases (although we’ll probably never use it).
One of the benefits for businesses of LivingSocial, Groupon, etc. is so they can win over new customers by getting them in the door cheap and then selling them on future business. Unfortunately for Freggies, that’s not going to happen for us.

Ordered this deal through Living Social ($ 19 for one box of produce and then 25% off the next 2 boxes). Was really looking forward to the box today. I received the first box today and wanted to write about my experience.
The box came with a decent amount of mostly fruits and some vegetables: 7 bananas, 2 oranges, 3 peaches, 2 small avocados, 2 Keitt mangos, 2 red onions, 1 bok choy, 1 cucumber, 8 roma tomatoes, 1 bag of green beans (~1 #) and 4 bagels. When opening the box, one corner of the box was filled with mold because one of the oranges had rotted. This orange had spread it’s mold to another orange and a tomato.
I also had hoped that more of the produce would be local (the mangos and bananas were both from mexico). However in all fairness, they didn’t say that the produce would be local.
Because of the mold, I decided to cancel the next 2 orders. I called the customer service and they were very friendly and efficient. They quickly canceled my next two orders and even refunded me the price of the moldy produce.
Overall 2 stars for the food and 5 stars for the customer service. Since the actual produce is more important, I am giving them 3 stars overall.

I purchased a Living Social coupon. It was a pretty good deal: $ 19 for one box of organic produce originally priced at $ 39.99 plus 25% discount on next two boxes. My first box was stuffed with a good mix of fruit and veg. I decided to do my write-​up after the delivery that I received today.
In today’s box: one bunch of leeks, one large bunch of red leaf lettuce, bok choy, one artichoke, one huge yellow onion, two fat oranges, five bananas, three pears, two peaches, two lush mangoes, seven tomatoes, and one sack of green beans.
Some folk complained that they don’t get to choose their produce. In time, I can see how that might be irritating. I’m only on my second order so for now, vegetarian roulette is kinda fun. I didn’t have any problems with last week’s produce going bad before I used it so I have high hopes for this latest batch.
TBH, I don’t know if I’ll continue with their service. To clarify, this is NOT through their fault or because of poor quality. Ultimately I prefer to select what I get at home. I don’t mind doing that via online delivery or making my way to my local fruit stand so my love affair with Freggies may come to a close at the end of my trial period.

After trying a bunch of these CSA groups, I think there are better delivery services out there. Freggies is ok — their website is very easy to use and to sign up for delivery. However, I don’t like the fact that I can’t choose any of my fruits/​veggies. It’s always a surprise (which is fun in some respect) but if you like control like I do, it might not be as nice. Also, since I don’t get to choose my delivery box, I would assume I got what’s fresh and in season! However, in my most recent box, my mango was already blackened upon delivery and one of my kiwi was moldy within 5 days. Boo. ..

I purchased the amazon daily deal and have not been impressed.
It really looks like they just went to Safeway the day before and ransacked the «organic» section and upcharge. No, seriously, that’s actually what they did. Yesterday in my box, I received Safeway’s Organic brand of cherry tomatoes.
Beyond that — those cherry tomatoes were on their way out. Old, wrinkly, and a little too squishy.
I would love to give my money to a company that is really working hard to give me organic high quality produce. Freggies is not that.
You’re much better off to go to a farmer’s market, or to just shop the organic section of you’re nearby produce department. Either way, you’ll be paying less and getting higher quality than if you had gone with Freggies.

Moldy green beans and rotting radishes (see photos) were among the items I received. When I called Freggies to ask for fresh substitutes, I was offered $ 5 off my next purchase, but told replacements weren’t possible. I will not be placing another order.

I signed up for a box of veggies with Amazon Local for $ 19, but when I called Freggies, they said I had to agree to buy 2 other boxes at $ 30 each or they wouldn’t honor the coupon. The coupon said nothing about having to buy other boxes (it said 25% off 2^nd and 3^rd boxes). I got my money refunded no problem from Amazon, and they said they’d received many complaints as well.

I tried this out using an Amazon deal for a variety pack of delivered produce as it appears many others have. I’m not sure if they were just overwhelmed by the number of orders from this, but the quality of the produce is sub-​par. The lettuce was already wilting and the artichoke needed to be cooked the day I got it or else it would have gone bad. The cilantro was good, but who needs a giant bushel of cilantro anyways? The carrots were just the bagged baby variety and the grapefruit was smashed and bruised. I’m giving them 2 stars because the bagels were good and so were the oranges.

This review is for Freggies’ customer service. I tried to set up a delivery for a box of veggies and fruits on their website, but ran into a problem — their listed delivery time window is «between 8am — 8pm». Seriously?! In my opinion this was strange. I would assume their target customer was a busy individual that would want to take advantage of the convenience of produce delivery… but how could they expect someone to be in one place for 12 hours? I decided to call.
The conversation went like this:
Me: Hi, I want to place an order, but am confused about the 12 hour time window your website lists, do you have a more precise delivery window so that I can decide whether I should have the produce delivered to my work or home?
Freggies: Sorry, our policy is to deliver between 8am and 8pm. The time we get to your place depends on how many deliveries we have on that particular day.
Me: Can you at least give me a vague window if I place an order, morning or afternoon? Because if it’s delivered before 3pm, I’d have it delivered to my work place, if it’s after 4pm, I’d have it delivered to my home.
Freggies: Sorry, our policy is 8am — 8pm. I can take down your info and check on it for you to see if we can work something out.
Me: Okay (gave them my contact info)
…2 days later, still no call back. I honestly don’t understand how this place can expect anyone to commit to stay in one place for (possibly) 12 hours waiting for a veggie box. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I guess I’ll be going to the grocery store for my produce.

I adore Freggies! I just got my first order after using a Groupon and am very impressed so far. The box was much bigger than I expected, and filled with delicious fruits, veggies and a bag of bagels!
I can’t wait to start cooking some of these items — I have already eaten a bunch of the fruit and it was fantastic.
As mentioned in a previous post — they really do use a lot of plastic bags with their delivery — which I felt was pretty unnecessary. Another con is the delivery time — I ordered this last week and it took them about 7 days to get it to me.
I think this place is great but if not for the Groupon I might not have ordered. Amazon Fresh has a similar special where you can order a box of seasonal produce… I think I might do some comparison there.

I’ve been very happy with the quality and quantity I get delivered. The service is easy to use and reliable.

It makes me feel good as a mom to feed them yummy healthy food that we get to enjoy together as a family. Change your buying habits today, plan ahead and eat better… it’s easier than you think.

Freggies has a simple website, good selection of produce, and is convenient for last minute ordering without a weekly or bi-​weekly contract (however they do offer this). I like that I can see the cost before purchase, so that I can adjust according to my budget.

Fresh, organic produce delivered straight to your front door? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well it’s not! Freggies is a fantastic organic delivery service that allows you to pick and choose what mouth-​wateringly fresh fruit and veggies you want delievered straight to you. And if you’re too overwhelmed by all the great choices (as I normally am) you have the option of a Freg Pick box of mixed fruit and veggies that is the hand selected «cream of the crop». It’s easy to eat healthy and organic with Freggies delivery.
And did I mention free delivery?! Awesome!
