I have been here once. My friend was absolutely raving about the bacon. It was really good and greasy. The truck stop is tiny – like a doll house. The décor truck stoppish. The owners were friendly. Too bad this place is closed down. I would’ve like to have gone again.

You have our email… stay in touch, please!(BTW James, I owe that tip jar at least $ 5 according to Jen/Mike and I promise to never walk in, order, sit down, talk with a neighbor I’ve never met, eat, all in my pink pajamas ever again and never knowin’ it then hiding from you all for at least two weeks not knowing what happened?! We’ll always be there for you all… and«we work on ‘local’(island and/or Mexican) time» always works for us! You two busted your buns off to ALWAYS provide quality food with a laugh or joke or two. Don’t ever, ever let anyone tell you anything different(especially those that don’t have a damned clue about what it takes to open a restaurant, stay consistent in quality, serve grumpy entitled folks, and still get maybe 3 hours sleep a night for the first few years… and maybe, just maybe break even!!!) …Turns out they’re indeed a bunch of flakes. I went there today and they’re closed, all the appliances uprooted and stacked by the door. You would think that with all the support they have been given by this community, they could have at least left a note at the door explaining what’s up. At least I have wasted a trip there during posted business hours to find them closed one last time. Good riddance! Update: 8/13, A «friend» of the owners emailed me via Unilocal and says they’re selling the business… meanwhile a call to their phone yields a message that says they’re merely remodeling during the month of August.

Disclaimer: I fully plan to come back and update this review. I spend a lot of time on Unilocal.Because of that, I have been hearing about this place, and how it is a «must try». So when my co-workers, out of the blue, suggested trekking down here for a long lunch, I jumped on board right quick. Having read the reviews, I knew that there was some controversy over their hours. We checked. We double checked. We triple checked. Yep, in fact, they would be open on a Tuesday at 11:45 for lunch. So we hopped in my car with our trusty Google map directions in hand. Now, for anyone who works in corporate America hell, you know that going outside of a mile radius for lunch is not the norm. We decided to make the journey… from Lake Union all the way to Georgetown. We finally found the little house…“Sweet, it doesn’t look busy! We’ll be in and out of there, and might even be back before we’re missed at the office“ Lights on inside… turn door knob… push open door… and nothing. It won’t open… Wait. Are those bar-stools upside down on top of the tables? But the lights are on? But the hours posted right here on the door say that they should be open right now. ARETHEYCLOSED??? The reality that we would not, in fact, be moments away from tasting bacon started to set in. No note on the door. No explanation as to why they were not open during their regular, posted hours. I really wanted to experience this highly acclaimed little slice of bacon heaven. I hope to be able to, and will update accordingly.

Best breakfast in Seattle. Period. They have amazing«egg cereal» which I tried to duplicate at home to no avail. I think it’s their bacon. Somehow, they have the best, thickest, tastiest bacon I have ever had and it makes everything taste great! Seriously though. This place is one of those soon to be discovered gems in Seattle. Amazing food, friendly service and tonka trucks for the kids! What’s not to love?

The best bacon in Seattle. End of review. OK, well, maybe a bit more. It’s a teeny tiny place that maybe squeezes 6 people inside but lots of seating outside if it’s nice. Breakfast burrito is amazing, super fresh and quite large. My lady gets the egg cereal and swoons over it every time. The scones are fresh, and are really good. Very nice folks that run the place and super laid back. Don’t expect much from the atmosphere or the décor but the food is fantastic.

Attempted to eat at the Truck Stop on Sunday, having fully prepared myself for disappointment. I didn’t trust them to not be closed for the hot weather or some kind of emergency, but thankfully, the doors were open and they welcomed us in. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and I loved every bite. How often do you eat breakfast and find that you can’t finish all the BACON? That never happens. Thank god I’ve finally found a place that doesn’t skimp on the bacon. Seriously. Bacon galore. My mouth is kind of watering just remembering it. Was also pleased with the super crispy tortillas and that the egg didn’t overwhelm the dish. Oh, and there was broccoli! I’m big into broccoli. Friends ordered the Egg Cereal(a giant bowl of every delicious breakfast food you can possibly imagine– bacon, sausage, sourdough crutons, avocado, onions, peppers, etc) and the Breakfast Burrito(pretty much the Egg Cereal wrapped in a tortilla). Nearly every single employee came to check on how we liked our meals. In unison, we all replied, «It’s fantastic», again and again. The end.

Low key kind of place. Had the roast beef sandwich with horse radish and had the meatloaf sandwhich the week before. The sandwhiches are great and they are huge. Service is really friendly. We brought some Manny’s brew with us and got buzzed during lunch and then we started doing burnouts in an old school V.W. mystery machine looking van in front of the joint.

I got turned on to this place from all the wonderful Unilocal reviews and because it’s close to my work, I went there for lunch recently. Its small, cozy, and has the feeling of a good neighborhood hang out. Even through it was my first time there, I felt like I was going there for years. The people working were cool, casual and welcoming. They know how to take part in the kind of casual conversation that friends usually have. In fact, we chatted about Unilocal and they really expressed their gratitude for all the great reviews. I’m big on customer service, and it was refreshing to experience very casual, genuine service that was still very complete. I guess I can talk about the food… yes indeed — Bacon rules here. I had the apple bacon sandwich with big bacon slices, spicy mustard, spinach, yellow peppers and sliced apples. Flavor was great, but what amazed me was the size of that thing! Huge. I’ll be back to try more. The only con, and one that doesn’t warrant dropping a star off the review, is that the place is really small. It was hard to find a place to hang out while I waited for my food. Lots of people coming and going. I think there are like 4 places to sit. No biggie. Lets face it, it’s an on the go lunch joint, not the place to go for a lunch date unless you want to sit outside. They pack up the sandwiches well, so eating on the go is easy. Oh yeah, and it seemed like people could call ahead for orders too. A great place to stop if you are in the area, but worth a side trip if you aren’t.

We hit this place for breakfast on the last full day of a week long stay in the Northwest. It was amazing. Really big portions… really big. I had a special referred to as a «scramble.» There were eggs buried under a heap of fresh mozzarella and veggies including red peppers, spinach(i think), zucchini or cucumber or maybe both… I have no idea, but it was pretty amazing. The biscuits and gravy looked and smelled delicious, too. Some local workers/drivers came in and hung out for a while, they all seemed to be friends or at least very friendly. It was a great atmosphere. We were there on a rainy day, but otherwise, we would’ve used the outdoor seating. It’s a bit cramped inside there, but somehow we all squeezed around a corner table. It was cozy.

I’ll admit it, I came to this place looking for something, anything to criticize about this place so that I could be the first give it less than 5 stars. In this mission I failed miserably. What is not to like about this place? It has such a friendly, un-pretentious, neighborhoodey feeling about it. The owner, who was manning the register when I came in, is incredibly nice and helpful and the seating, which could’ve been a major downfall(there is only one table inside and the seating outside has a very lawn furniture feel) instead just added to the laid-back neighborhood feel. Admittedly, the beautiful day helped – I have no idea how this place could function on a rainy day. But enough about the ambiance. Bah to ambiance! A breakfast joint is about the breakfast, nothing else. Food-wise, with a name like ‘Georgetown Truck Stop’ I was expecting greasy spoon breakfast standards but got nothing of the sort. I firmly believe that a breakfast joint can be best judged by their biscuits ‘n gravy and I will now declare that: THEGEORGETOWNTRUCKSTOPHASTHEBESTBISCUITS ‘N GRAVYINSEATTLE. Yes folks, you heard it here first. The gravy is the best gravy I have ever had. Giant chunks of sausage and bacon(bacon in gravy? Genius!) in a sauce that’s not too salty and just peppery enough. The home-made biscuit suffered only from a lack of flaky-ness, it had a cornbread consistency but tasted great. My dining companion had the egg cereal, which was also very tasty, very original and possibly even very healthy. And the bacon? Best bacon in Seattle. Yum! Will I be back? Just as soon as I’m able(and as long as the weather is good). They apparently have a completely different weekday menu, which I can’t wait to check out.

I think everything here comes with bacon… Delicious thick mouth watering bacon… wow I really want some bacon. The highlight of this place(besides the food) was an actual big rig truck pulled up and ‘stopped’ right in front so the drive could get some delicious grub. If you didn’t have a reason to visit Georgetown before you do now.

Based in a former single family residence built in 1924, the Georgetown Truck Stop serves some of the best tasting food at very affordable prices in town($ 5 — $ 7). Friends of mine told me about this place a couple of years ago, but I haven’t had the privilege of eating here until just recently. Guess I’ll need to play catch up! In a span of about four days, I’ve had the following in the next couple of paragraphs **insert pig noise here** : Breakfast burrito consisting of eggs, black beans(they were out of chili), cheese, tomato, cilantro, onions and sour cream. I swear this monster of a burrito weighed a couple of pounds! While I was waiting for my burrito, I noticed a scone in their pastry case. I asked about it and was told it was a biscuit. It had coriander, cumin and all sorts of stuff in it that I can’t remember, but it is the base of their wonderful biscuits and gravy. James gave me a biscuit to take with me! How awesome is that? I ended up ordering the biscuits and gravy the next day for lunch. It consisted of two biscuits covered in country gravy and large pieces of sausage. It also has a spicy kick to it. Nice! I am not exaggerating when I say it is probably the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had! The quiche is another breakfast to go option that is pretty good because it is served cupcake style. Very portable! Their sandwiches are totally awesome! I really love the BSTA — thick slices of piled high bacon, spinach, tomato, and avocado and dressed with a honey Dijon mustard/horseradish sauce and mayo. The other tasty sandwich I had was the chicken salad which also shared the same base as the BSTA minus the tomato and avocado. The seating area is quite small. After all, the house is less than 300 square feet and most of it is kitchen and prep area. They have one four and one two topper inside. Don’t fret because they have plenty of outdoor seating. I am most envious of the people who work and live in Georgetown because of this place. If I lived or worked in Georgetown, I would definitely make Georgetown Truck Stop part of my daily ritual. Seriously. James and Stephanie have quite a following here and I’m happy to jump on this gravy train! ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ********************************************************************* ** ** ** GEORGETOWNTRUCKSTOP ** ** ** **************************************************************** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** _____________________** ** I I I I I ** ** I I I____I___I ** ** I I I I I ** ** I I I____I___I ** ** I I ** ** I I ** ** I I ** ** I____________I ** ****************************************************************

I LOVE this place! Right after we left the airport, my husband and I were in need of some good food. I had read the reviews on this place and wanted to check it out. It is only about 10 – 15 minutes away from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The route we took was a little ghetto… we saw a lot of trucks and warehouses and weren’t sure if we were headed in the right direction. But… we rounded the corner and found this little cute house sitting on the corner. We parked on the street and walked in. There’s only one table inside(probably can seat about 4 people)…and there are benches outside. The interior has a homey feeling. The menu’s on the wall and it looks a little limited… but James(the co-owner) will let you know the specials that aren’t listed on the wall. MAKESUREYOUASKABOUTTHESPECIALS! Now onto the important stuff… the FOOD! I ordered the special… called the EGGCEREAL. Sounds weird huh? But it is FABULOUS!!! It’s a huge bowl with strips of perfectly toasted bread on the bottom. Then it’s topped with chunks of sausage, grilled onions and grilled cloves of garlic, grilled veggies(red pepper, broccoli, zucchini), cheese, avocado, 2 eggs over easy/medium, fresh spinach, and cilantro.(See pictures I uploaded) THEEGGCEREALWASTHEBESTBREAKFAST I HADINSEATTLE! My husband had their turkey sandwich. He liked it a lot… but just beware of the mustard. It’s a little spicy and definitely has a kick! The slabs of turkey were nice and thick.(I still think the egg cereal kicked ass over this). James and Stephanie(the owners) are super awesome. They’re easy-going, very interesting to talk to, and they know most of their customers by name. As we paid our bill, I looked in their dessert display and saw strawberry jam scones(see picture), biscuits, and a strawberry danish. I mentioned that the scone looked delicious… and without a second thought, James gave me one for free!!! My husband and I enjoyed it immensely!!! It had the right texture and the jam was sweet and complimented the scone. THANKSJAMES! I will definitely go back and eat here if I’m ever in WA. I ate at a lot of restaurants while in Seattle, but my mind always wandered back to this place…

Ok, I admit, I haven’t officially dined at the GTS. But they get 5 stars for the most engaging five minutes I have had in a restaurant in many a year. Me and the Missus roll in fresh from our Odyssey tour of G-town last weekend, little Unilocaler in tow. Unfortunately, we arrived post brunch rush, and GTS was out of my little Unilocaler’s favorite pastry(pretty much anything with chocolate). However, rather than shoo us out, the owner gives us a couple of scones… on the house. She and her clientele then proceed to guide us to where I can satisfy the little Unilocaler’s chocolate fetish. Now, there are many places that can provide great customer service, but few reliably enlist their customers to help as well. Awesome experience. We’re gassin’ up the Odyssey for the weekend based on this simple exchange. Hi-ho-Honda, its off to GTS we go!

The beez-kneez, the cats meow. This is one of those places that Unilocalers flock to. It’s so Unilocaly and naturally best visited with other Unilocalers, in this case thanks to Quinn R for the transport and fine company. Really good creative food, done and done. I had the biscuits and gravy with some scrambled egg on top, for lunch. I may have made a mistake, not because it wasn’t amazing, but perhaps the bacon spinach tomato avocado sandwich would have been better. I would love for this place and skillet street go head to head, just really great food. Sit outside even if it’s a little too cold. Update: I went back the next day and got the BLT, amazing bacon, that’s all I can say, amazing, oh, and they might just throw a little fresh baked desert at you if you sit for awhile.

My new favorite place to have breakfast. EVER. We strolled in here @ 2pm, in our Yoga clothes– STARVING– me with my mouth still numb from novocaine. We were welcomed by random décor, bacon memorabilia, and a sincerely friendly greeting from the owner. She convinced us that A) we wanted breakfast, and B) it was«cereal eggs” — her not on the menu special. Bacon, sauteed veggies and poached eggs served atop toasted cubes of bread in a gigantic bowl topped with spinach, avocado and cilantro. AMAZING. Mine was served in a vintage Pyrex Cinderella bowl festooned with the«early American» print in gold. LOVE! ’twas if we were having breakfast at an old friends house, complete with ridiculously inappropriate mealtime conversations and deep belly laughs, which, if you know me at all, I fully advocate.

When I verbally describe this place to my friends, I always find myself immediately explaining that, despite the name, the food is not traditional truck stop fare(i.e. simple and greasy). As far as I could tell, their connection to the trucker world is that trucks often drive by their establishment(to be expected in Georgetown). The food is ample in poritions, fresh in appearance and taste, and felt like something homemade, assuming you come from the home of a kick-ass cook. I had the chicken salad sandwich with a side of pasta salad. The sandwich had thick slices of extra tasty bacon to go with the chicken, and the pasta salad had these mushroom-like things that were unlike any kind of mushroom I have ever seen, but they were great. Intrigue and adventure — seldom a feature of my normal lunch, but included at no extra cost with every meal at the Truck Stop. It is a tiny building, located on a larger piece of land. Most of the interior space is of the«behind the counter» variety, although, there is a single picnic table inside. No worries, there are 4 tables outside on the grass, with 2 of them under the cover of a canopy/tarp. I love this place.

If I would have reviewed this place a couple of months ago it would have gotten two maybe three stars from me. I used to love the breakfast burritos that«Virgina Madsen» used to make but she just recently sold the place! Which truly is for the best because the previous owner had trouble opening the place up on time, keeping staff, etc. It used to be a roll of the dice to stop by this place. So my point is that if you have been to this place before– and stopped going because it was never open– try again! The place was new charm, a fresh coat of paint, the people are friendly, and the good homecookin food is better than before! If you have trouble finding the place –welcome to the club. My best suggestion is drive aimlessly around Lucille and 6th and on a back road you’ll see a small hut that is brightly painted with white plastic lawn chairs outside. That’s the place!
