Wonderful bagels, delicious fillings, and a friendly staff! Howell’s Bagel Bakery is a great place to have a real«NY Bagel» in Seattle. Unfortunately the store is being forced to close because the landlord wants to sell the building to developers. What a real shame!

This place had high Unilocal ratings and was close to our hotel. Walking in I wonder how or if they’re keeping up with the health code. Seems sketchy. Definitely better places to grab a bagel on the go !

Quick and delicious! The jalapeño bagel added just enough heat to kick my breakfast sandwich up a notch.

Came here on a Saturday morning around 10am… closed. A bit disappointing considering we walked a decent distance to get there, and according to their hours they should have been open. I get that sometimes people have things come up, but I would suggest calling ahead.

Stopped in for a quick b-fast sandwich this morning on my way to work. Ordered the ham, egg and cheese on jalapeño, which was average at best. I didn’t pick up very much jalapeño flavor which was a little disappointing and after toasting in bagel, ham and pre-cooked egg in a toaster over, the only thing that was a hair above warm was the outside of the bagel. The meat and egg were luke warm and the cheese, which was laid to melt in the residual heat from the toaster oven wasn’t melted. From the positive reviews, I was expecting a little more. Maybe things are better during lunch hours.

Great bagel and sandwich shop! Wish I would have found this place first day in the city as the price and taste can’t be beat! Had the turkey bacon and avocado on onion and garlic bagel. Fresh and tasty. Owner was also very friendly. Definitely recommend this for breakfast or lunch.

Price/benefit for breakfast can not be best. Only eat seats. With all the construction around its hard to see the small place, but well worth the find. We had a bagel ham egg cheese and a bagel turkey cheese plus two coffees left large tip and out for ten buckeroos.

Made me feel like I was back on the east coast. Great variety. Bagels are perfect texture! The owner is extremely personable which just adds to the experience. I have been looking for a place that has salt bagels(an east coast favorite) and this place meets the mark. The lox and cream cheese on salt bagel was delish. The pizza bagel is also quite good. I would go here again.

Bagels that are perfect! The owner is a real human being who enjoys interacting with his customers and that’s a joy! I can tell you the tuna bagel with bacon is amazing! This is the best tuna sandwich in the city by far! Make sure to tip the workers Moui, Carlos and Karen, excellent people! And if you see the owner ask him if there are any bagel dogs left! :)

My wife, daughter and I each got three different egg sandwiches, all on bagels. We each got about two bites in before we gave up. My daughter, who had a juice to go with her sandwich, also asked for water to «help wash it down». Gross. Inedible. Super dry. The bagels tasted like a stale english muffin that was baked in an oven. The eggs tasted like nothing. The cheese was«american» or similar to what 7 – 11 uses for their nachos. The bacon seemed like microwave bacon. Call me jaded(I lived in NYC for 7 years) but this place doesn’t sell bagels. I honestly think management has changed or something because our experience couldn’t have been farther from what the majority of other reviewers are saying. Oh, and after buying three sandwiches, and four drinks, they still charged me 75¢ for butter(or «spread», whatever it was) that I attempted to use as a lubricant for my throat so I could swallow this disgusting food.

THISPLACEMAYNOTLOOKLIKEMUCHBUTITSLEGIT! IFYOU’RE A TRUEGANGSTARTHATLOVESYOURBAGELSDONETHERIGHTWAY… this place is a must. the service is casual but they were all about the customer and the place was full of personality. another reviewer mentioned the generous portion sizes and I have to agree that size does matter to these people. next time youre in the mood for a lox and bagel stop on in…

One of the few bagel places in the city open early on a Saturday morning! Was the first person here on a Saturday morning. They open at 7am. I really wanted to try the local coffee and decided to also have a garlic and cheese toasted bagel, one with lox and cream cheese, the other with egg and cheese. Both were equally delicious and I thought the one with lox made more of a lasting impression on me. It’s funny because I came to try the coffee and went home honking about their bagels! The place itself is tiny and aromatic and the staff is friendly and helpful.

I so wish I could transport this little shop to Tennessee. Good, hot breakfast. I’ll definitely be here next time I am in Seattle.

Solid bagels. Would definitely return for a bagel on the go. Not a place to linger, though. Limited seating and definitely not going for the cozy feel.

I got a toasted poppy seed bagle with cream cheese and a 12 oz. coffee. The bagel was perfect. It felt less cooked than most I’ve had in my life, but it was toasted so that the crunchy outside complemented the squishy inside. It wasn’t overflowing with cream cheese like some places have it. This place is a hole in the wall, the drip coffee was pretty meh, and the lady barely spoke English, but I came for bagels. And the bagels were perfect. And cheap. And it’s right next to the greyhound station, which is why I tried it.

Asiago bagel with plain cream cheese was one of the better bagels I’ve had in Seattle. The bread was very doughy! The pricing was a little weird though. The menu said one thing but then the guy charged me an extra 75 cents for no reason…

Great bagels and cream cheese. Whats nice is they are also dog friendly, so nice whenever you find shops that friendly. I recommend the sun dried tomato cream cheese. Or get the lox and cream cheese. However it does sell out fast some days

Very nice staff and a well made americano. The Works Bagel leaves something to be desired though. Bacon, ham, egg, american cheese, lettuce, tomato. You’d think it would be something special. It’s pretty subpar. American cheese is gross, that should have been a red flag. I can see why people really like this spot, the staff is nice and the prices are good. If I come back I won’t be getting the same sandwich. Maybe that will mean a star bump?

The quality of food and service here are excellent. What I love about it dining here is the manager, Jacob. He’s working hard but always manages to make the experience about a relationship we’ve grown over the last year. It’s refreshingly pleasant to have someone remember the last conversation we had and be able to refer to me by name(because he asked my name in the first place). If you base your dining on interaction and thoughtfulness, this is the place to go.

I am originally from New England, and, as my friends can attest, constantly bitched that there were no decent bagels to be had in Seattle. Well, I shall bitch no more! These bagels are perfect and the true test of an excellent bagel is whether you can eat it untoasted and unadorned. These bagels definitely pass that test. I can also tell you that the level of customer service is very high, and doing business here is a very pleasant experience. I very highly recommend Howell St if you like bagels, or even if you just like a good coffee. You can NOT go wrong here.
