I’m such a sucker for hu tieu and this place has the best I’ve ever had outside of my vietnamese home. The only downfall is that they only take cash, but the prices are so ridiculously cheap it won’t be a hassle. Tucked in a really ghetto strip mall is this place, it’s perfect if your family is genuinely vietnamese and eats the way I do, where we have a sauce dish on the side with chilis and lemon. PERFECTION.

Place is clean. food is ok, portion is the small and it’s expensive. $ 9 for a basic Viet dish such as hu tieu or bo kho is way too much. And their food are not better than other places around them. Would not come back again. Ps.: their hu tieu and bo kho is not the best in town. CASHONLY!

This place is the reason why I love small, local hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Authentic and amazing food. This place is definitely a gem of Seattle! PROS: Location: Off of MLK and Othello street. In the many small businesses between King Plaza and Safeway. Ambiance: Small establishment. Doesn’t look like much from the outside. Nothing special on the inside as well. With no special décor of any sort, just your average tables and a TV for entertainment. Service: Typical Vietnamese service. Very speedy. We got our food within minutes. Food: Very small menu. I appreciate restaurants that takes pride in only serving a limited amount of dishes rather than having a large menu. Fewer dishes means that they focus on the quality of each item. My husband and I ordered the Bo Né(«stand back» sizzling beef steak) and Hu Tieu Nam Vang(Phnom Phen Noodle Soup). The Hu Tieu was probably one of the best that I have ever had. The broth is the key to a good bowl of noodle soup. Theirs, was extremely flavorful and solid. Their broth has a mellow pork flavor, slightly tangy with a nice richness to it. Topped off with slices of pork, liver, intestine, shrimp, ground pork and finished off with one quail egg. The noodles are similar to what you would get from phở. Served with the correct garnish: green onions, bean sprouts and chrysanthemum leaves(not something that you would typically see). If you have never dish, I highly recommend it. It is simple, yet hardy with wonderful flavors. The Bo Né is a one of a kind as well. Not something that you would typically see at a Vietnamese restaurant. Two thick slices of beef cooked to medium on a sizzling platter with a slab of butter and two sunny side up eggs. Served with a warm, fresh, French baguette. I think the description alone speaks for itself. Take a piece of warm toasty bread, wrap it around the beef and egg then dip it in the juices from the beef… so mouth watering juicy and delicious. CONS: Hours: They open very early and close pretty early! 7 am-4pm! Cash only!

Some excellent soup here as well as next door. So pleased to have found the best beef stew in town, as well as some great pork soup too. They no longer offer sandwiches, and its cash only, highly recommended.

Pretty good customer service and the food here is good. The complementary ice tea doesn’t taste like dirt but tastes really good. They do close pretty early at 4PM but I came in at 3:50 and they still served me.

This reminds me of the little side street restaurants in Vietnam. This place is a hole in a wall… Literally, there is a hole in the wall! Haha. I love their hu tieu nam vang, and Bo kho. My fiancé likes the Bo né but well done(he can’t do rare). They food comes out fast too! The only down about this is it is cash only.

I’m probably in the minority’s but I did not like the broth in their beef soup. Way too greasy. You could burn an oil lamp with it. I’m talking ½″ of beef fat afloat. I’m not sure what their cleanliness inspection rating is but I give it a C. Surfaces super grimy. Waitress took my order with her playtex dish washing gloves on. Charming? Nah.

Not bad. I like the simple menu. Definitely hole in the wall joint and family run. Grandpa was caring for two toddlers inside restaurant. And everyone is friendly. I ordered my favorite dish: hu tieu nam vang. REMEMBER to bring cash.

Huong que café is a simple place. Small place, short menu-but it’s the best steak and eggs(bo né) I’ve had in a very long time. The banh mi bo kho is the best I’ve had in a very long time too. Here’s my method – I order a banh mi bo kho and bo né then pour the Bo kho broth over the bo né… you’re welcome — -lime, thai basil, thai chili peppers and pink salt concoction enhance these dishes – the bread knocks it outta the park

So the homies and I came here since we all were in the mood for soup. One of my friends lives nearby and suggested we eat here. Now, if you don’t mind hole in the wall, grimy, in the hood type décor, then this is the place for some good Hu Tieu Bo Kho! I’ve never had this particular soup before but my buddies suggested it so… I am now a fan! My other buddy who hasn’t been here tried the Ox-Tail phở and was also pleased with his soup! So if you must be in a restaurant where you require a pristine clean environment with a pleasant view, well then I would avoid coming here. If you can get past that and want to grub on some good hearty soup, come check this place out. There is parking in the rear with an entrance for convenience. Cash money only!

My hair care professional raved about Huong Que Deli & Café’(HQDC) on more than half a dozen occasions so that convinced me that a visit was absolutely necessary. HQDC is truly a hole-in-the-wall, I would never have discovered it driving by and it’s hard to find unless specifically looking for it. To help aid the reader in locating them… they’re situated in the same complex as Tammy’s Bakery with an entrance off of the sidewalk or use the back entrance from the Safeway parking lot. Food: For the most part, everything I have tried I liked. *Hu Tieu Nam Vang — this has got to be their best menu item. This delicious bowl of rice noodles has rich broth, and a generous amount of liver, chicken and pork. They’ve got the one mandatory item that it should ALWAYS come with: Vietnamese Chrysanthemum green herbs, also known in Vietnamese as Tan O, that gives it a bitter tone. On top of that, a serving of chopped spicy chili peppers help garnish and add just enough kick. *Bo Né — Viet Steak and Eggs on a skillet plate. I love this dish! A couple sizzling round beef steaks and crispy eggs sunny side up(trung op la) served with a warm baguette. Life is good with this, just sprinkle the meat with the chili peppers and rub it in for best results. Take a dash of soy sauce and black pepper on the eggs and it’s «bread dippin’ into the yolk» time! *Phở Duoi Bo(aka Phở Oxtail) — the oxtail is pretty darn good but the overpowering star anise used lessens the overall effect and broth is on the sweet side. Important to note that there are other meats included like a deluxe combo phở(phở dac biet). *Banh Mi Xiu Mai — you can do the meatball in the sandwich or you can choose the meatball on its own cup/sauce with baguette on the side for a $ 1 more. Can’t go wrong here if you are a Xiu Mai/meatball fan. *Bo Kho(Viet Beef Stew) — two options here. As a rice noodle soup(Hu Tieu Bo Kho) or served with a baguette. I ate both versions and tend to lean more towards the noodle. Reason here being the noodle version always will be hotter in temperature whereas the serving with bread cools down quickly and doesn’t stay hot for long. The beef is tender and true to tradition in seasoning & taste of Vietnamese Bo Kho. The broth is thicker and sweeter than the norm but that’s really just a minor issue — if they can thin it out, it would be perfect. BRINGCASH… they do not accept credit cards here. Open early, closed early: 7AM to 4PM daily. Be aware that if you come late in the day, some items may be sold out. You snooze, you lose. ______________________ Improvement opportunity: cleaning and maintaining the dining area. Simply pushing food crumbs to the floor and letting it pile up there just doesn’t cut it. Either catch it with a container as it is being wiped or sweep the floors frequently. Unsightly.

HQD& Café is a neat, casual little Vietnamese spot for tasty Bo Kho. Despite always making small efforts of being conscious to not accidently fling that yummy stew on to the clothes(especially those fine-ass-ly sliced onions swimming in it — the sly bastards!), I make do to eat this super good stuff. The hearty stew, the beef, carrots, onions, cooked fine, I’d imagine and then cleaning up on Aisle 1 with the bread baguette. Their tea is also very nice with a pleasant, subtle aroma. Other teas at places seem to have similar tasting tea but less the aroma. Super casual and good food. I enjoyed the flatscreen showing a Vietnamese village scene. The staff seem to just do the motions and tend to their families & kids. I sort of followed what Melissa L did, only I left OG-style and entered frontal style. ;p Random side: I didn’t look but someone abruptly played Gangnam Style on a device of sorts for about 3 – 5 minutes… eh yo, c’mon man! Jeez…

This place is awesome. I went here for the first time today and was thoroughly impressed. The place was small, but clean and tidy and the waitress was nice. I ordered the Hu Tieu Nam Vang. It was delicious! I loved how the broth had body and flavor and was not too salty. There were TONS of fresh, good quality goodies in my bowl and the accompanying tan-o and chives were nice and fresh. I asked for no liver and they subbed with more pork and beef-heart(my favorite!). The shrimps were also the best I’ve seen/tasted in a long time. The only thing I could wish for is if they used hu tieu nhai(chewy clear thick noodles) instead of banh phở(phở noodles), but well, that’s life. I have to say though, that the banh phở was chewy and fresh the way I like. My husband ordered the Hu Tieu Bo Kho. It was also very good. The soup was a little thicker than I like, but well, that’s the way most people like it. There was so much meat and sauce, in addition to plenty of noodles, that he easily could have had a baguette with it as well, if he wasn’t so stuffed by the hearty serving. I also like the ot hiem(chilis) they provided. It was nice to add heat without adding too much flavor(e.g. jalapeño flavor) when the flavor in the bowl is already perfect. This is my new noodle place. I can’t wait to go back and try the oxtail phở and mi quang.

this is my new love. i went on a hunt for bo kho one day and i found it, 2 blocks away from home. life just doesn’t get any better than that. bo kho is a vietnamese beef stew that you can get with either noodles, or a side of french bread for dipping. i can never decide which way i want to eat it, so i take the best of both worlds by ordering it with noodles and a side of bread. delish. my son loves their rice plates. nice portions with a perfectly cooked sunny side egg on top. their phnom penh(hu tieu nam vang) noodles are my new fav after i was able to branch away from the bo kho. i’ve never tried their oxtail phở, but the bf loves this dish as well. be an OG and come thru the back door. only cons are cash only and they cater to the lunch crowd, so they’re not open for dinner *sad face* don’t forget to grab a lychee or melon candy on your way out too. yum yum.

The Hu Tieu Bo Kho(Beef Stew with Noodles) was one of the best I have had in the city. I’ve often been disappointed when ordering this dish at other restaurants because the broth is too thin and not well seasoned. The broth here is thick and unctuous and full flavored. The only minor complaint was that the tendon was not quite cooked long enough for my liking and was a little chewy. I also quite liked the Ox Tail Phở. The ox tail was super tender and came off the bone easily and the broth was rich and flavorful. The menu here is limited to a relatively small selection of dishes but of the two that I have tried they did both very well. Looking forward to exploring the menu further.

Had their No. 6 Deli Combo sandwich and No 13 Pork Combination. Their sandwich was adequate but for the price it was good. The pork was surprisingly delicious. It was both flavorful and tender. In the juxtaposition between price and quality of food the restaurant obtains a 3. Their sandwiches are worthwhile. Dinner a little less so,
