Let me preclude this review by saying that a.) I have a big problem giving phych’s ratings. What didn’t work for me may have worked very well for someone else, so my mid-level rating may be 5 stars to you, or one star to someone else and b.) Unilocal/Google/City search should be taken with a grain of salt — there are a LOT of schills out there. While they have occasionally helped me to find something, they have also served up a LOT of lemons. All this said, I know that there are people out there who are desperate for phychiatric help. It is for those people that I am writing this review; you need help and may be want some advice so that you spend your hard-earned dollars wisely. So while I feel ethically somewhat torn about dishing on a doc, my heart lies with the consumer. With regard to this doc… He charges a lot for the initial consult. This may be because it is long(3 – 6 hours). Was all of the time necessarry? Really not for me. But may be you would like/need/appreciate that. But he also might charge that fee because not many people come back(just get the scrip and go…). I am not going to go back because I did not find him particularly helpful on a talk-cure level(though not bad, just not particularly good). I was really disappointed in his knowledge and advice with regard to pharmeceuticals. It was very vague and when I looked up how to take the scrip online, advice was actually quite stringent. In conclusion; do your research, phone first and see if you like the vibe.

I’ve been to my share of psychiatrists, and I generally feel like they are rushing to get rid of me. I’m glad to say this is not the case with John Brinkley. He really listens and values your input. He is also very informed about medicines and various treatments. Very easy to talk to!
