I’ve never had any problems with this place and taken shirts, suits and comforters to be cleaned. Good service and reasonable prices.

It’s been a few months since I’ve been here so maybe things have changed. But you know what didn’t? The stains on the clothes that I brought in. It was a wool blend peacoat with old pie filling crusted on the sleeves(mostly water-soluble corn syrup) and a white lacy dress with a conspicuous makeup stain(oil-based concealer, to be exact). Normally I’d just attempt to get them out but decided to heed the laundry labels to save myself some elbow grease. I picked them up and got all the way home only to realize that, barring a few wrinkles smoothed out and an added chemical smell, every stain and crust was still there in its exact shape and size. What exactly did they do… douse them in lysol and throw em in a press? It could have been a one-off, or these stains may be more set in than I’d thought. However, I will not likely be back.

While at John’s Cleaners dropping off a pile of laundry and dry cleaning, John told me about all the fie damaged clothing he was cleaning, getting rid of the stench. He specializes in that kind of cleaning. That’s why he handles so many fire fighters. I also noticed his down pillow cleaner in the front. Cleans the dust mite laden down in pillows, then puts the clean down into new ticking(pillow case). He takes care of people.

I wish I could say good things about this place, sadly it seems to me wether experiences are ok or rather unsatisfactory at this business, and to me over the course of TWOMONTHS it hasn’t been pleasant. I took a MICHAELKORSDOWNJACKET to John’s Cleaners because they had once cleaned it for me and the place is right by my house. When I picked up my jacket a few days later, the faux fur in the hoodie was charred, as if someone had put it under high heat. Knowing that it was irreparable and that it was an expensive jacket I got very upset, but still didn’t make a big deal out of it and left the jacket there along with my contact information so the owner could take a look at it, and call me back with a solution. Days went by and I never heard from the owner, so assumed it was my phone. Finally I decided to look for him. I went in one lucky day he was there, he told METOLOOK for a fur that would replace the old one and that he would sow it on and take out the damaged one; I thought this was weird, since it’s not my job to repair or inconvenience myself to fix a problem I paid not to have. Afterwards I talked to a few other dry cleaning places around the area, and they all said HESHOULD’VEREPLACEDMYJACKET, not just the fur on m hoodie. Either way after searching for what seemed ages, I found the perfect fur lining(it is real fur) and only 50 dollars, I thought it was a reasonable price to pay instead of the 350 the jacket was worth(also because it didn’t seem fair since it’s a jacket I’ve had for a while). The fur I got has grosgrain ribbons sown into it FOREASYATTACHMENT, so basically you don’t have to sow on the fur. I left all the materials and a photocopy of the receipt in the business with one of his employees, because to my wonderment JOHNWASN’T THERETOTALKTOMEORRECEIVETHEPACKAGELIKEHEHADTOLDMETODOSOTHENIGHTBEFORE! He didn’t even call me to tell me he wouldn’t be there! Mind you, this is about the third time something along the lines happens. I left very upset since and angry at the fact that he couldn’t even apologize when he should be doing everything in his power to fix the problem his business created. He called me the next morning and told me that it was impossible to work with the fur since he doesn’t have the equipment necessary, I reminded him that the fur had ribbons attached to the sides for easy sowing that can even be done by hand, but all he said was sorry and hung up the phone on me. I don’t know what to do, he ruined my expensive jacket, won’t pay for the repair part, or repair it for that matter! I’m so disappointed and upset, I tried not to snake him out of money and he turned to be the one taking advantage of me. Does anyone know what options I have to fix this?

I had a set of drapes cleaned. When I brought them in, the person at the counter quoted a price of $ 3.00 per pleat. She offered to have the owner call me before they processed the drapes, since it was about 30 feet of drapes and would be expensive. I said that wasn’t necessary. When I picked up the drapes the total was $ 438. Since I hadn’t counted the pleats, I just assumed there were about 135 pleats. I counted the pleats when I put up the curtains and there were 92 pleats. I talked with John on the telephone. He said the correct pricing was $ 3.95 per pleat for 92 pleats, plus an environmental charge of about 10%, plus sales tax, for a total of $ 438. He said his employees would never quote a price on drapes without talking to him, «not that I don’t believe you». John gave me $ 80 in credit in an attempt to make me happy, but I’m not. The drapes still have some stains on them. I have never had drapes cleaned before so this may be unavoidable and not John’s fault.

I took several sweaters and a winter coat in May. I thought nothing was wrong. People were nice. Turn around was quick. The price was reasonable. Then, I took the coat out of closet today to find out that it was shrunk badly, the material was totally changed in texture, to the point that once soft and warm turned into hard solid plastic sheet! It makes noise like crushing sheet of hard paper! It has a cleaning instruction tag clearly stating to be treated cold. They must have treated by hot heat to melt it. Wish I had not trusted them and checked it right away after I picked it up. Still, even I did so, the coat ruined is ruined. Never go back there again.

My mom gave me a book when I graduated high school: How to be a Gentleman. One tip that sticks with me: A gentleman knows his barber, dry cleaner and his barista by first name. I’m horrible with names, but I’ll never forget John, and he never forgets me. I wouldn’t get my dry cleaning anywhere else at any price.

John and his stain fighting staff have and will always be my dry cleaner of choice. Cheap/Easy/Dependable. The level of customer service at John’s makes me feel like family! If you absolutely need it done by a certain time, they will make it happen! Keep it up John!
