Stumbled across this place on a cold and wet night and was really craving some warm noodles. I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time and so my food came out pretty quick. The noodles and meat itself were fine. Those hit the spot. Unfortunately, the soup was too salty as I would continuously grasp for more hot tea after slurping down a spoon of the soup. The other Unilocal reviews seem to favor this place, so I think I’ll give it another shot. Perhaps I just didn’t order what they’re good at. However, as of now, I can’t say this restaurant is anything more than 2 stars.

This place is CLEAN! I am talking REALLYCLEAN which I truly appreciate. It is also stop #5 on our tour of awesome international district restaurant extravaganza fun! We had the following items off the menu– Buddha’s Delight Vegetables which tasted fresh, Szechuan Beef Noodle Soup(I actually wanted to try the won-ton and brisket soup but they were out which bummed me out) The waitress suggested the soup I got and it was sort of good, just not what I wanted. My husband had dumpling and won-ton soup. His tasted better than mine. We also got some pan fried pot stickers– which were standard. I hear this spot is open late at night so we might go back, but honestly with over 85 options in the ID, we are more likely to go somewhere else.

NOTNO, BUTHELLNO!!! Got our soup and here comes a roach heading our way on the floor. I waved my hand at the server, she came over and squished the thing like it was her usual routine, no joke. I looked a few feet further and another was struggling to roll over from their back. I didn’t touch another bite got up and left, I hope these people can get this under control, they do have some good prices and a Unilocal sticker on the window. Good luck to all of us.

I had a random craving for Westlake minced beef soup and this place was open late. It is tucked away on a more«dingier» looking part of the ID. BF and I ordered the soup, salt and pepper fish balls, and curry noodles. I was very satisfied with the soup. At least my craving was fulfilled. Everything else, though, was not that great. The fried fish balls were soggy. the curry noodles were too much noodle and TOOMUCHCOCONUTMILK. I couldn’t even finish it. too overwhelming. I would never come back. especially since there are better options open late at night, but maybe not if you’re craving for for Westlake minced beef soup.

I could literally spot several chunks of MSG in my fried rice that was not blended in. Gross.

Hm, I don’t usually venture up to 8th in the ID, but I was looking for something different open later so I made the stroll up here from the ID station. It was(as some transplants AND natives would say but which I can tolerate: P) sucky weather outside and dark, so upon entering this place, I was quite surprised at how bright and clean it was — er, bright as in warmly lit with a high ceiling and not one of those pasty white grid light systems. It was pretty laidback with one group in the middle and I sat off to the side. The waitress was nice and friendly, a bit spacey as I waited for the check later on. I got the fish balls curry and the beef & [soft] tofu over rice. It was good comfort food. For me, this was all a bit«goopy», so I may get more rice next time. They also have beer. There’s a space upstairs with a railing vine; not sure if that’s extra space or not. A flat screen usually plays Chinese programs. A nice spot away from the common spots down west.

The dumplings and hot sour soup were not that great but the mongolian beef was pretty good. Is a good spot for late night dining but I would recommend checking out some of the other great restaurants in the ID during normal business hours.

This place is the only reason why I decided to go on another Unilocal spree. The place that me and my friend wanted to try out was closed, so we drove around China town to check out for other places to eat, it was around 11PM on a Sunday night, so yeah… Anyways, I noticed the open sign and I checked this place on my phone and it seems to be all right. We parked in front of the place and I noticed something funny, hey that’s one of my mom’s friend. Then we walked in and I’m like oh shit, what the fuck? My mom is eating here too. i was shocked just as she is and she was like how did you know I was here and started asking questions and annoying me the whole time I was there! Oh I gotta love my mama, but good thing I wasn’t with no girl or anything because I would bail this place since I know she’s good at ruining dates from this experience. I browse through the menu and my mom yelled out WHATYOUGETTING? YOUSHOULDGETVEGETABLES! I laughed and said haha you’re funny, no. My mom was friends with the waitress and she started to talk and talk and talk. My friend understands Chinese better than me and said I think she’s gonna get us some soup? I’m like what? Few minutes later, the soup came and said it was on the house. My mama complains over and over again about me drinking soup and stuff, I’m like okay, thanks and it was pretty good. We eventually ordered some spare ribs with black sauce fried rice and fried chicken wings and it was surprisingly good. Only down side is the spare ribs had a shit load of vegetables! I bet my mom told them to put a shit load of vegetables on my fried rice dish! DAMYOUMAMA! But all is forgiven when she wanted to covered our meals and she waited patiently for us to finish eating so she can drop me off home. Funny and awkward experience, but I gotta say, this place served some pretty good food and it’s not fair that my mama had some free orange-red looking sweet oranges, while me and my friend got none! This place was one of the cleanest restaurants in China town too and I was surprised because the outside looked like a hole in a wall! There’s some parking on the side of the building, but I’m not sure if you can park there, but hey I would take the risk.

Parents introduced me to their rice in clay pot, which was pretty good. The 3 veggies we ordered were all fresh and delicious. Oysters were yum. Total came to less than $ 95 with tip for 5 of us, which is quite reasonable. I think next time I will try the curry.

We keep returning to KC Kitchen because it is one of the cleanest restaurants in the ID and the lady is always so nice. Food is good and reasonably priced– really, you can’t beat getting a big bowl of hot and sour soup that can serve 4 people for just under $ 5.

Very tasty and not expensive. Generous portions. And they have the best fortune cookie I’ve ever tasted!

The best Chinese soup and hot pot for a deal of a price. The service is way better than the usual crappy Asian restaurant service too.

2. nd review. had to wait 3 days to be able to update a review… meh for Unilocal! came back to have dinner and decided to do a family style. ordered the fried mini ___(still did not remember what is the name) with salt and pepper, LAMP hot pot(it’s written like that, and no it’s not a lamp cooked in hot pot, it’s lamb), japanese style tofu, and curry brisket. wayy too much food for 3 hungry guys! the fish was great! same like last time. the lamb hot pot was… very chinese, i don’t really know how to explain it but i do not think you guys that like mongolian beef or orange chicken would like this. however it’s good. it has mushrooms, lamb(of course) ad cooked in white soup? it’s pretty hard to describe but i think it’s pretty good! the tofu was not too bad, deep fried silken tofu, topped with enoki musrooms and smothered with brown sauce! nice! saving the best for the last! curry brisket! everyone raved about how tender the brisket was… they were rite! golly! melts in your mouth briskets, swimming in creamy yellow curry! i should say this is the best in ID! you should try!!! all in all, will come back and try other menu! oh ya, plut the 10% is what keep me coming back!!! ahaha! ^.^

Strapped for time before a show, we nipped over to the I.D. for dinner. Our first choice was closed so we took a chance on this place for a quick meal. We were happy to find perfectly serviceable Cantonese fare for a low price. Three people split a large soup, dumplings and an order of Mongolian Beef and we were quite full. The Westlake Beef soup arrived piping hot and could have easily served four people with second servings. Our dumplings were crisp with chewy exteriors + flavourful fillings. Lastly the Mongolian Beef was tasty and full of onions — exactly what we craved on a chilly rainy day. The restaurant was clean and our waitress was pleasant. There are so many good places to eat in the I.D., I don’t know if we would return. But there was nothing wrong with our meal so it’s fair to say that we would. And if we did go back, we’d order another large soup and lose ourselves in some period soap opera, Cantonese-style.

Best Chinese food in China Town! I’ve been to lots of Chinese resturants in both China town and on the East side and KC kitchen is definitely the best one. The food is delicious(almost as good as in Vancouver, Canada) and the prices are great. It’s amazing that this resturant is not busier than it is. I’m there almost every week.

If my cravings for Beef Brisket Wanton Noodle Soup have to be met at night, this is the place I run to. It is a must try for the people in need for the tastiest and most tender beef brisket. The last time I went there, my friend ordered the Schezuan Pork Noodle Soup and I was surprised at how good it was. I’ve never thought to mix Schezuan sauce with noodle soup but it worked out soooooooooo good I’m going back to try more of it. They’re open ’til 3am so anyone can go there and spend the night eating. hahaha! I would say this is my favorite place in the Int’l District.

Went there today for the first time, I ordered their Chicken and Fresh Vegetables Rice. The dish had lots of varieties of vegetables stir fried with a great sauté… Absolutely beatiful. The chicken was well defatted. Great service and good attitude, but probably because they are in grand opening, and the enthusiasm is still there… but let’s not take away what they have. :) I highly recommend this place, great remodeling and clean! A big screen TV if you’re bored. I recommend this place over Purple dot or Golden City, if you’re looking for a good atmosphere. They offer congee and noodles too… I’ll update this review after I try it the next time. This place is located right next to Green Leaf and across from House of Hong. They’re open LATETOO! Mon-Thur 10:30am — 2:00am Fri-Sun 10:30am — 3:00am UPDATE: My family had their congee and specials a week ago. It’s really fantabulous. They have lunch specials for $ 3.99, and includes drinks. It’s called«afternoon tea.» It consists of many stir fried noodles. I had their Lai-Fun and Pork stir fry. It was absolutely awesome for $ 3.99. I also went there tonight and had Gai-Lan stir fried garlic style. They did a good job, but the portion could be a little bigger. But the quality is better than any other restaurant, with the exception of V-Garden. V-Garden’s «da shit.»
