Ken’s Baggage & Frozen Food Storage

I did not store luggage, but needed to ship something. Could not use my FEDEX account and Ken’s mark-​up was absolutely insane. Not a viable option for shipping.

Need a place to store your luggage before/​after a cruise while you sight-​see in Seattle? Or on a long layover? Ken’s Baggage is the perfect answer!
Located on the ground level of SEA-​TAC airport between baggage claim 12/​13, we were attended to quickly and paid $ 7/​$ 8 respectively for our carry-​on and larger roll-​aboard luggage. Ken’s has an old-​fashioned system where you write your name in a log and are given a ticket — DO NOT LOSE THIS TICKET! We momentarily misplaced the ticket upon returning and it seemed like it was about to be a big deal– like whoops we have no idea what happened to your bags deal.
Upon producing our ticket, our bags were promptly returned in same condition and we were on our way.

While in Seattle we needed a place to keep our luggage while we wandered around the city before our 7pm flight as we were staying inKirkland and couldn’t leave our things there. Ken’s is the greatest! Drop off your luggage at their office located between baggage claim carousels 12 & 13. A standard rollie-​bag cary-​on cost $ 8. Add another light carry-​on backpack type bag and it goes up to $ 12-​$ 13. We then took the light rail into Seattle and spent the day there, came back, got out luggage and flew home. FANTASTIC and day saving! YAY!

Super simple… a regular corporate-​sized rollaway will cost a person $ 8 for storage here. whether 1 hour, or 24 hours, same price. They store things from HUGE box parcels, to refrigerated fish filets, to baby carseats, etc. what have you, they do.
Take ticket and go have a fun time downtown!!! Located between carousels 12 & 13 on the baggage claim level, one simply ascends the escalators that are located directly above, walk across the skyway, and head left on 4^th floor of the main parking garage…
Signs are very clear. The walk approximates 5 – 7 minutes before landing at the ticket machine.

Ken’s also services the «MAIL IT HOME» kiosks near security where you can mail to you self something you happened to not remove from you pocket before checking you bag. Like a favorite Leatherman or pocket knife.
I was recently on my way to Baltimore and got the check point with a very small Leatherman on my key ring. Security found it and said NO — but pointed me to the Mail It Home kiosk. To my surprise — it was waiting for me with my mail when I got home a few days later!

I don’t think there is anything as bad as coming home from the east coast to a dead car battery at the airport parking garage!
THANKFULLY there are signs everywhere around the elevators for car trouble that direct you to Ken’s Baggage… The place is easy to find. They rented me a portable jumper cable thingamajig. It’s on wheels and you just roll it on to your car, jump start it and bring it back. They even provide you with a dummy-​proof how to use paper.
They saved the day for me, and saved me from having to call roadside assistance. Awesome little place.

Our Anchorage Alaska Airlines flight was too late for connection to SanJosey, so aa put us up in a distant nice motel, paid for shuttle, and paid for SEA TAC’s storage contractor, KEN’S, to keep our Red salmon and Alaskan halibut hard frozen.

Unfortunately, the next morning our prized Expensive Vacation fish were still soft from the belly of the jet !! Evidently THIS IS NOT A SUB ZERO FLASH FREEZE FACILITY, unlike the one in tiny wild Yakutat.
We arrived in SanJosey and quickly put the fish in our spare and waiting empty garages stand-​up and coffin freezers !! It was delicious for almost a year !!
I wish every USA airport had a $ 2 knife storage contractor, like Ken’s, with dead car battery service, slim-​Jim locked car door in garage service, and a MUCH COLDER FREEZER SERVICE.

Yes, it is tiny desk, hidden and hard to find service subcontractor. Just ask around.

Somehow this place has a monopoly at the airport. No competition has caused this company to become unethical. Right near the security check, there is a little kiosk that says they will ship your rejected item home for you. Mostly small knives or scissors or shampoo you want to keep. Or maybe you accidentally got to the airport with a friend’s cell phone or home tv remote? This «service» used to be $ 8 and now has jumped up to $ 9 for no reason except greed. The post office charged them $ 1.73 to ship my wife’s little tiny swiss army knife home to her. In someone else’s review, it says that Ken’s charges $ 2 to store a knife in their office until you return from your trip. This is a fair non-​greedy price! But they do not mention this at their shipping kiosk nor will they ever wish to. They love TSA’s stupid rules.

I flew into Seattle, landed at 11:30 a.m., had a meeting downtown from 12:30 — 3:30, then was flying back out later that night. I didn’t want to lug all of my bags with me everywhere I needed to go that day, and was looking for a place to simply drop my bags once I got off my inbound flight, then pick them up when I was ready to depart Seattle.
One of the TSA agents clued me into Ken’s Baggage and Frozen Food Storage which is located down on the baggage claim level between carousels 12 and 13.
There was a line probably 6 people deep to drop off bags and other items here, and once you enter the doorway, there is just a small counter, large enough to handle one customer at a time. I gave them my bag, they handed my a claim ticket and told me when I returned to pick it up, they’d charge me $ 7.50 to store it for up to 24 hours. To me, it was well worth the cost of storing my luggage here, vs. schlepping it around the city of Seattle with me all afternoon.
Ken’s will also store frozen foods for up to 15 days (most likely aimed at people who come to Seattle to catch or purchase fish and seafood). They also provide shipping and mailing services, they rent harder to find necessities like car seats, strollers and wheel chairs, and also have items to service vehicles such as jumper systems for cars with dead batteries and «slim jims» to unlock doors. They also sell packaging materials, animal kennels and airline approved gun and rifle cases.
This is a «no frills» business that has found a few niche areas to serve travelers, and they charge reasonable rates for what they provide. I wish every airport had a facility like Ken’s!

The only thing consoling me after my bad trip, and my bad flight, was the fact that I had been so late getting to the airport I had to park at the expensive Sea-​Tac garage. So, at least I didn’t have to hassle with shuttles and I could just get in my car and drive straight to my bed.
Yeah, right.
My car battery was dead and I wasn’t really sure of what to do…
The ridiculously helpful parking lot attendant on the third floor offered to take me to Ken’s Baggage. And, as I was following him to this improbable sounding place a few scenes from various after school specials flashed before me, but I was cranky and tired, and didn’t know what else to do, and I figured that if anything bad were to happen to me at that point I really didn’t care because at least then I wouldn’t have to deal with making any more decisions.
That was when we arrived at Ken’s Baggage. Right on the baggage claim level of the airport. How had I never ever in my entire flying career seen this place? They offer all sorts of wonderful and wacky services!
Need a slim jim?
How about a freezer locker to store some fish?
Need to send a fax?
Rent a wheel chair?
It’s only two bucks to store a pocket knife with them.
I just needed my car jumped and was told I could rent a battery from them. Luckily, I have jumper cables and the know-​how to jump my own car, but still I was pretty relieved when they wheeled out the all-​in-​one «jumper unit» as opposed to the battery on a dolly I was picturing in my head.
After lugging the heavy effin’ thing up to the sixth floor, jumping my car with my alarm blaring at me, driving around the parking lot so the alternator could work its magic, I got the jumper unit back to them by getting the sky captains on the upper deck to watch my car.
All in all, a pretty crappy experience, but it was totally worth it to learn about this little gem of a business inside the Sea-​Tac airport.
