Their lunch options are one of the best. They are affordable and yet very high quality. I love their Chirashi bowl especially.

I came here for dinner with a friend and although the restaurant was bustling with patrons and although we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated quickly. I really liked the size of the restaurant because it was fairly small and intimate. The menu is fairly extensive. There were lots of nigiri, rolls, and entrees to choose from, but that also made it difficult to decide what to order. The waiter was patient with us though. We ended up ordering the caterpillar roll, the Wallingford roll, the sashimi entrée, and the black cod entrée. It ended up being a little too much food for two people, but we were able to finish it by pacing ourselves. I thought the black cod was very tasty. It was firm yet tender and the sauce provided a nice sweetness to it. It was just as good as the best black cod I’ve had. The sashimi was really good as well. It was beautifully presented and tasted fresh. There were many options to choose from: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, octopus, surf clam, hamachi, and a few others. The caterpillar roll was your average fare, what you’d expect. The Wallingford roll was tasty as well. There were a few pieces that had a strange citrus-y flavor to it. The entrees are served with miso soup and the black cod entrée comes with a salad. Overall, I thought the food was excellent and rivals some of the best sushi I’ve had in terms of freshness, taste, and presentation. The dining experience was great as well. Our waters were refilled regularly and we were left alone to catch up while enjoying our meals.

This was just terrible sushi. Salmon nigiri wasn’t the buttery soft deliciousness it usually is, but chewy yucky grizzly thing that I couldn’t even chew through in some parts. My friend got a piece of fish that was bloody. And to add, my chair had big tears in the upholstery. The salad and desert were delicious though. I’ll definitely not be back. No need to eat mediocre/bad sushi with so many amazing places, like the Tsui Sushi Bar a few minutes away.

Food is delicious, but they are terrible with managing reservations and getting you seated in a timely manner. Twice my friend made 8:30pm reservations and was seated a half an hour after the reservation, with poor service like this I doubt we will come back despite their delicious food. They need to work on their reservation management and should have provided us complementary eats or drink to hold us over while waiting. An hour after the original reservation time, we are still waiting for food. Too many great places to eat sushi to put up with this.

We went to Kisaku on a busy night right before Christmas. The place was full, but the host found a place for us at the sushi bar. We started with some basic sushi, but then asked our waiter for something special. He asked the chef to do a complex, spicy roll for us that was wonderful. We were blown away by the high quality of the raw scallops we had in another dish. We had no idea there was a sushi place as good as Kisaku near us in North Seattle. We will be back!

We went here for lunch and it was pretty decent. The fish was fresh and I particularly like their rolls. It is pretty well done and not just stuffed with *imitation crab and mayo* all the time. Their soft shell crab roll was the most memorable. However, I do wish their nigiris can be more generous. It is quite a small bite, even for my standards. Service was just alright. We had to flag them down a few times to get our order taken, our tea refilled and for the check. It became quite tiring at the end.

This might be the best sushi I’ve had in Seattle. The rice in particular was perfectly cooked and flavored, the fish was excellent, and overall the dinner was excellent(and not cheaper than several other more average sushi spots). Get the Omakase, you won’t regret it.

My husband and I had lunch at the sushi bar on a Monday afternoon. The chef was very friendly and served us promptly. Everyone received a miso soup and salad when they sat down which was wonderful! Both of us ordered the Sushi Combo A with seven pieces of nigiri and a california roll. The fish just didn’t taste as fresh as some of the reviews led me to believe I was going to get. Honestly, I probably enjoyed the california roll most of all. I don’t think we’ll be back any time soon but I would be willing to give it another chance some time in the future. Maybe it was an off day…

BESTSUSHIEVER– seriously, I can’t even explain how delicious it is but I will try my best. Ok I will keep it simple — get these 2 things that aren’t on the menu 1. Seaweed salad — oddly it is not listed but this one puts all other seaweed salads to shame — it has your normal Wakame of course but they add another type(can’t remember the name) no bother tho — just order it — so good! 2. Shimi #2 roll — my favorite roll of all time Again, not on menu but ask your server, they will know ****Sautéed gooey duck — this is a special that they have sometimes(sadly not always tho) OMG — this is possibly one of the yummiest things I have ever eaten in my like — tender, delicate gooey duck sautéed with butter, garlic and mushrooms — such a beautiful rich umami flavor Everything is delicious — try them out!!! U will be soooo happy !!

I came to Kisaku during Seattle Restaurant week with my girlfriends, and honestly I was not impressed with the food at all! For the price, the experience was lackluster, and the service was a little anti-climactic. It seems a little funny that the place looks very fancy(with it’s white table clothes), but it is your normal neighborhood Japanese sushi joint when you walk in. That is both good and bad I guess, it’s open to interpretation. Anyways, for Restaurant week, there were about six of us so we made a reservation in advance, which was a smart idea because this place fills up fast! We were immediately greeted and seating, and started off with some House-sake. For dinner, I had vegetable tempura, the scallop ceviche, Gindara Kasuzuke, and assorted Mochi ice cream. The vegetable tempura had a good flavor to it, but nothing out of this world. The scallop ceviche was nicely presented and had a great balance of flavors. I was surprised by how big the portion of the cod was, which is justified because of that price!($ 26). It came with a side of root vegetables, and white rice. The cod had a distinct flavor, some bones, but was not unlike something I could easily make at home. My dessert consisted of Chocolate Espresso, Blueberry, and Pistachio mochi ice cream — all were good, but we half melted and difficult to pick up with the toothpick provided. Overall, I will probably not come back to this location. I think I can find better sushi spots in the area!

Came here with my friends during Seattle Restaurant, the restaurant didn’t seem too packed but it might be because the tables are spaced really well. We sat at the bar and I ordered the omakase sushi but not the one off the SRW menu. The one on the SRW menu offers 6 or 8 pieces, can’t remember and the one off the regular menu goes as far as you would like. I had 23 pieces by myself. There were things that I’ve had before and things that I haven’t even heard of. My favorite was definitely the sweet shrimp with salmon roe and the otoro. The sweet shrimp was fresh. The otoro was super delicious and melts in your mouth. During the omakase we were given tuna, chutoro and otoro. I ate it in the wrong order and the chutoro and tuna was comparable to the otoro at all. Fish was fresh. The restaurant is very spacious. They were slightly understaffed that day but the chef did his best to put food out on the table for us at a good pace. The most important part is that I left full.

I came here on a Thursday night for omakase with some friends at the Sushi bar. I experienced some of the best nigiri I’ve had in a while that night. Some of the fish that stood out included pike mackerel, shigoku oyster, Japanese green uni, and a variety of white fishes including golden snapper and kisu. There were only three sushi chefs that night(normally four) so our dinner came out pretty slow but that didn’t bother me too much. Our chef was very friendly and personable. Our sushi was served two pieces at a time and there didn’t seem to be a flow to the fishes. Before I experienced fishes with lighter and more subtle flavors before hitting the more flavorful ones. I was definitely a happy camper leaving the restaurant after 23 pieces though! I will definitely be returning at some point for another omakase experience. Hopefully there will be more seared options.

So good! I came here twice for Omakase and the first time I had a younger chef who loves to use citrus elements in with his fish. I had about 14 pieces and every SINGLE piece was heaven in my mouth. I was very very impressed and happy with that visit. The second time I visited I got the chef who I think owns the place and I only liked 4⁄16 pieces. Im not really sure what happened there but I plan to head in again for another go because the first visit was so good. Pro tip: birthday freebies here.

While visiting Fremont, my sushi craving was in full force. It actually never goes away, so I wanted to see what Seattle had to offer besides the infamous Shiro’s. I stumbled upon Kisaku on Unilocal and decided to walk in for a last minute dinner. That was a little mistake on my part. Given it was Labour Day, everyone had made reservations ahead of time, so the only way we were to eat was to sit and order right away and get out within an hour. I appreciated that they even gave us this option! We got seated right away, served quickly(quicker than others I’m sure) and received our food within minutes. My boo and I tend to eat faster than most, so with the hour we had, it was more than enough time; we enjoyed our meal without feeling rushed to leave by the staff. We ordered the sushi combo M, an order of Amberjack nigiri, a spider roll and the Wallingford roll. The rolls were about $ 7 on average each, which given the portion and quality was a great value! I mainly got these to help«fill» us up, since eating only nigiri could add up a pretty penny; however, they ended up being pretty good, with the Wallingford roll being one of the highlights of the whole meal. It had light citrus notes from the sprouts and the yellowtail was great. It was a refreshing roll! The spider roll was a good contrast to that, with fried softshell crab; it was a bit small, but great value considering how much crab they tried to stuff in there! The sushi combo came with a tuna maki roll; the seaweed and rice were soft and the tuna was fresh as well. I like ordering combos to try variety and was pretty satisfied with this one; however, the quality of fish was good, but not the best I’ve had. For the quality of fish, I would expect this combo to be under $ 20; also, we were short one piece, now that I look back on it, and didn’t get to try the shrimp nigiri! :(That’s a slight bummer. The surf clam was really good(I think my favorite of what I tried), the scallop a bit fishy and the octopus was slightly tougher than how I like. But it was all still very good and overall, not a bad deal for how large the pieces were. I ordered the amberjack to gauge the quality of sushi, and it was decent, but at $ 6 for two pieces, it could have been one step higher. It was soft, but a bit too warm to be thoroughly enjoyable. For two people, one very full and the other«alright», we paid around $ 50 which is great for a sushi dinner! The service was excellent and the sushi chef was very communicative with us. Recommend if you’re in the area looking for quality sushi and service. Just make a reservation!

I liked their special appetizer soft shell crab. The lunch combo sushi is not bad, but not special to me. But their fresh mackerel is good! Service is a little slow. Overall not bad! Would come back if I’m close by

Pros — Ingredients are fresh. — Lunch menu is a very good deal compared to fish freshness, especially the chirashi. — Tables immediately available at noon on a Saturday. — Tamagoyaki is very tasty. — Spacious interior. — Hostess and waitress were attentive. — Lunch omakase was affordable, unlike many other restaurants where I expect ripoff omakase. — Small but good starter salad(cucumber, lettuce). — Abundant curbside parking around the corner. Cons — Rice was a little«chunky”/clumpy. — Would have been nice to have more vegetables in the chirashi. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

LOVELOVELOOOOVETHISPLACE! I came here after a friend wanted to check it out and indeed it was a GREAT decision! I love how they have great california rolls with REAL and FRESH snow crab in it! In addition, they have AWESOME nigiri! My favorite is snow crab(notice the theme here?) and unagi I typically am not a sushi person but I did thoroughly enjoy salmon, tuna, and other things time to time. If you’re adventurous and got some money to blow, go for the omakaze and check out some of chef’s creations and other nigiri you may not otherwise try: D Cool to see what he’s got in store

Overall, the dining experience here was a win! I was pleasantly surprised upon walking into this place. Quite romantic and nice! We came in at the beginning of their dinner service so the place was empty, which was great. I ordered some nigiri while my husband ordered some special rolls. I asked the sushi chef for a few recommended nigiri and everything came out really good and fresh, plus they don’t skimp on their cut either. We also tried their fresh kumamoto oysters which was so good, I could eat a ton of these. The service here is very good, from our server to the sushi chef everyone was very polite and helpful. Would love to come back here again to try other items on the menu.

great sushi place in Tangletown! I have ben meaning to get here for ages! very popular spot in cute Tangletown neighborhood. Sushi bar is the ideal place to sit as you have clear view of the fresh stuff being prepared! stuff tried albacore sushi/sashimi: clear stand out! we ordered 2nd order of sushi and sashimi because is was so awesome red snapper collar: you should always try to get roasted collar when available! sometimes its other kinds of fish but get whatever they have. best part of the fish for those in the know! this is off menu so need to ask for it. otoro sushi: fatty, maybe a little stringy. probably got the very end of the cut! but delicious anyways The interior is really nice and the casual so you could pop by for date night or after playing touch football or run! great place to check out

We came here for a pre-movie meal on a Friday. I booked a spot on Open Table, and from what I gather they must be pretty popular because the only available times were for early birds or night owls. The atmosphere inside is casual but welcoming. The sushi bar is toward the back of the restaurant when you enter. We had a table by the window which is good for some Tangletown peoplewatching. The list of rolls isn’t quite as extensive as I’ve seen at some sushi spots, but they still offer enough variety. I really enjoyed the Devil’s Vegetable Roll — it involved deep fried eggplant, bellpepper, cucumber, and shiso leaves. The shiso was very flavorful(which I’m a big fan of). I also enjoyed the fried oyster appetizer and the spinach appetizer. This place definitely has a neighborhood sort of atmosphere. I saw three separate parties come in that seemed to be on a first-name basis with who I assume was the head sushi chef. There were also several parties with young children, so it seemed very family friendly. This seems like a place I might frequent if I lived in Tangletown, but not necessarily somewhere I’d alter course to get to.
