Madrona Laundromat

Solid laundromat, small though I didn’t have issues with getting machines when I was there. There’s a Molly Moon in the same space, so it smells delicious and that’s a great way to pass the time.

UPDATE: They brought the tables back so we are able to happily fold and get the entire load done in one swoop! We are happy to increase our review to ⁴⁄₅ from ³⁄₅.

I don’t typically use laundromats, I rarely find myself needing to but with my laundry backed up a bit too high and not wanting to wait around to finish 5 loads at home I came to Madrona. Not the cleanest but definitely not the dirtiest. The price about $ 4 a load, I can deal. Not quite the $ 1.25 I paid college but then again there were no side show acts, load phone conversations or people begging for cash. Just a neighborhood laundromat.
Wifi, a vending machine, cleaner restroom and floors are what separates this place from a 5*

Clean machines, pricey washes at $ 2.75 a pop. Didn’t see restrooms and the coin machine is very finicky. Street parking means you’ll walk a block or 2. But its a quick 20 minute wash and will get you on your way quickly. Place smells good (molly moons is right next door).

Minus two stars because of cost and parking nearby stinks. Not fun to drag your clothes over a block.
The Laundromat is clean, and the washers and dryers clean and dry clothes super fast. So you are in and out in no time. Their are several place nearby to grab a bite to eat and a drink, also a Molly Moons ice cream right in the Laundromat!

I feel weird writing a review about a laundromat (most of my reviews are involving food at restaurants), but I had an experience better than I had anticipated so I feel like a review is warranted.
My washer is broken at my house and has been for a week now, still waiting for the repair guy to come back with the part, so a trip to a laundromat was necessary. I have never been to a laundromat before and had the worst picture in my head of what I was going to have to experience. I was pleasantly surprised though… This one was really nice and in a good location.
The wash took only about 20 minutes but while I was waiting for it, I went just down the street to get coffee and discovered the wonderful cupcake shop, Cupcake Royale (yum). All of the machines seemed new and the place was well kept. I was the only person there at about 10am on a week day. I’ve never been able to wash three loads of laundry so quickly. I would have given this place five stars, but I dropped a star because I am not thrilled about the price. Not sure how this compares to other laundromats, but I felt like $ 2.75 a load was a bit steep for a wash. The dry was .25 for about 7 minutes of dry time, I believe. This isn’t bad if you have just one load, but I had three and I can’t imagine if I had to go here all the time to wash clothes. I would invest in a washer/​dryer if I had to spend this much on laundry all the time.
Also, one negative was that the change machine doesn’t take 20 dollar bills. I started to panic when I was running out of change and that was actually why I decided to go down the street to find coffee (to get change). I would complain more about that if it wasn’t for my great find (Cupcake Royale).

We had a lot of loads to get done, and this worked out great. We went in the middle of the day on a weekday, and almost all of the machines were empty. By the time I got more cash for quarters, the first loads were ready to put in the dryer. SWEET! And the dryers are fast. Super duper fantastically fast. Even though we had a zillion loads, we were in and out in a little over an hour.

New machines!!! They take only 20 minutes, including the HUGE ones. Perfect location – next door to ice cream, food, coffee, bars, and a park. This place makes doing laundry fun!

I really, really, really want this to be my laundry spot. It’s cozy and clean and close to my house and love walking around madrona with my dog while we wait for the laundry to wash and dry.
BUT… after a few times washing I’m realizing Christy H. is right and the machines don’t get my clothes clean. Like simple stains don’t come out and I’ve even noticed times when they didn’t all get wet.

The washing machines don’t get your clothes clean so unless you want to wash twice, find another laundromat.

This laundromat is clean and the machines are high quality. All appeared to be in working order. I’ve been to a lot of laundromats in my years, and this one covers all the basics well. A Molly Moons ice cream counter is reported to share the space soon.

Everything has been redone at this gem of a laundromat.
Brand new machines, new everything. Clean, quiet, cozy and right next to Thai food (Naam) or brunch stuff (Hi*Spot). Someone definitely cares here.

Madrona Laundromat is fine. The machines are circa 1970s front loaders with one larger load washer (that will always be in use when you visit — Murphy’s law). There are 8 driers and some are way WAY too hot. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a facility fire here based on the amount of lint caked to the bottom of some of these driers. The lint screens ARE NOT cleaned daily like the signs say so your clothes will have that «laundromat» odor.
There’s no WiFi or restroom available. The HiSpot Café and Naam Thai are next door if you’re looking to kill some time by eating (or using a restroom). There is one change machine.

This little storefront on 34^th is right next door to a coffee shop. It’s safe and comfy and purple. All the machines work. The walls are lavender. Very nice.
