Midas

I’ve used the West Seattle Midas for years on multiple vehicles. Not only have they always been polite and friendly, they have always completed the work on time and with no problems. In fact, when there was a problem with my new car, after taking it back to the dealer several times to be told there was no problem, I took into Midas. They were not only able to correctly identify the problem, but advised that I return to the dealer with the diagnosis because the car was still under warranty and would be covered. The dealer rechecked the car, agreed with Midas and fixed the problem. I called and thanked Midas — not many other places would have done what they did.

I’m not a fan of Midas Fauntleroy.
Save your money. There is a reason there are no cars in the bay and they can «get you in right away» and a Good mechanic will be a week or 2 out.
If at all possible WAIT for someone GOOD and HONEST. Midas west Seattle isn’t it.

If you think Midas plans on following up when you see their reply FORGET IT !
I’VE WAITED A MONTH FOR A REPLY .
When they tell you a district manager will «get back to you in 48 hours «Don’t believe it !
I’m so disgusted with their lack of customer service, I just want the damage they did fixed !

After yet another week [ and another 48 hr call back promise ] It is obvious my only recourse is to fix my car door [ on my dime ] and sue in small claims court for the cost.

Not sure if they fixed the problem. They just don’t really listen or understand there might be more problems then just what they think is the problem. Got an error code p0420 at O’Reilly. All they do here is use the same check engine machine. There are 8 things that can be wrong with this code, but Midas here went with the biggest ticket idem. Not only that they didn’t do a diagnosis test after I asked why is my engine still running like crap after they replaced the biggest ticket item. I do know the dealer ship does diagnosis test not just from the computer read out. Now I have to take the car to a dealership after I spent over 1200 on catalytic converter, which may or may not be the problem in the first place.
Also Mike doesn’t listen, I know my car, I told him it has an acceleration issue with a hitch before the check engine light went on. They never fixed the acceleration problem. He talked over me many time say my problem is what the simple code said. He just wanted to fixed the biggest ticket item, not do a correct diagnosis like what the dealership does.
Also noted my car here was only one being serviced at this shop, there was another car sitting in the garage there for a few days. The goodyear next door has cars parked everywhere and in the garage and mechanic working. Should have went with my instinct and went to the goodyear where there are consumers and cars being work on, not an empty Midas shop.

I took in my 96 Benz for a simple oil change, drove it to work the next day, and a plastic piece from underneath the engine dropped down on the WestSeattle freeway, making a very loud noise, I pulled off on the admiral exit and parked the car, called the tow company., have it towed back to Midas. Then took the next day off from work to go in and deal with this mess. They reatched the piece that should have been done in the first place, never took any responce ability, nor apologized, plus had an attitude. I was outraged, it took then until 2:00 to fix it. This is the second time I have used them, for another repair, that also went wrong, with me having gas pouring out of my car at a stop light underneath. Very dangerous thing!!! They forgot to screw in a bolt!!! I will never use Midas again, never! I should have read more of these reviews and learned the first time!

I’m am really pissed off with these guys. After reading these horrible reviews I should have known better than to go here but I didn’t. I went in to have my water pump and timing cover gasket replaced. They did a good job with that but I soon discovered that there were other problems. My throttle was not working and my transmission cable was broken. After bringing this to Loiuse’ attention he agreed to fix it. Okay that’s fine. The next issue is that the mechanic changed the oil but did not change the filter. There is no excuse for that whatsoever. The next problem is that the mechanic did not properly bleed the cooling system and now my cooling system has air in it. The next problem is that the mechanic did not change a gasket that he should have and now I have a new oil leak. Finally when I did get my vehicle back there were greasy marks all over the fender. Now tomorrow I have to go and address all of these issues and waste more time and I am not happy. Do yourself a favor and don’t go to any Midas in the Seattle area as this guy owns most of them and you can be guaranteed a bad experience. I would also encourage anyone who has ever had a bad experience whatsoever to file complaints with the attorney general and any other state agency that will listen as well as file complaints with Midas corporate. Shoddy mechanics and shops deserve to go out of business.

I had my brakes replaced and has shopped around, midas has the best price by far and let me use a coupon with no issues or grumbles, as had previously been reported by others. Maybe I got lucky but I was very happy with the service, my brakes worked great and everything was done quickly, no added prices or anything like that. I was totally happy and wouldn’t hesitate to bring my car to this location again.

I purchased a Super Saver punch card that included multiple oil changes, tire rotations, etc. through a deal on groupon. On my last visit using the card, the guy at the counter informed me that they were losing money on this deal and were «basically going bankrupt» because of these punch cards. When I returned to pick up my car after the oil changed, he informed me my vehicle needed about $ 700 worth of repairs. I figured something didn’t line up right… you tell me the company is losing money followed by diagnosing $ 700 in repairs? Sure enough, after a second opinion at another shop, my vehicle is running fine and had no recommended repairs!
Wouldn’t trust these guys, that’s for sure. Shady business practices & poor customer service.

Very rarely am I so aggravated that I will take time to email the business AND write a review on Unilocal.This oil change was the straw that broke the camels back. Last year I purchased a Groupon for a Super Saver Oil Change that included this location as an option (incl 3 oil changes, tire rotation, engine light check, etc.). My husband took both of our cars in the first time, last March. A tire rotation was included in the deal which they said wasn’t needed on my car at that time.
My next oil change there, I had forgotten my coupon and the owner was very friendly with me and my lil’ son while we waited. I noticed a post on the counter saying that any Super Saver Coupons purchased after June 2012 would not be honored. There were two or three customers that came in with the coupons that were turned away and the owner complained about them after they left. Saying that he nearly went out of business due to these coupons and cost him so many thousands of dollars. Akward! Well I had purchased mine before his cutoff date and I never did tell him that I still had one for him to honor but I had forgotten it & i wasnt very excited for my next visit. He had let me know about a Steering Damper that was leaking, showed me where and priced it at about $ 250 for him to fix, which I declined (found the part online for $ 37). My oil change was $ 46 that day which I wasn’t financially prepared for but was happy to pay due to the thorough job they did.
Now comes my last oil change on this coupon as it soon expires and I’m close to needing an oil change. I had some recall issues handled at the dealership & was told my tires are badly cupping & to get a tire rotation ASAP. I still haven’t had my Steering Damper dealt with. So I took my little Super Saver coupon in and WOW did the attitude change. I asked for a tire rotation and was told I would have to leave my car and pick it up 2.5 hours later & then was asked why I think I needed a tire rotation. I told him about the cupping & said I would wait the 2.5 hours no prob. Went to Trader Joes and pick up 3 items, came back and the tire rotation was almost complete. 10 mins later my car was ready. 30 mins was waaaay better than 2.5 hours! No mention of my Steering Damper although I never had it fixed. The man wouldn’t even look at me. I said thank you and good bye & my 2 yr old said thank you and goodbye. No response. We were made to know that we were unwelcome customers and nothing more than a burden. I would suggest that he embrace the Groupon deal as a marketing strategy, use it as a write-​off and try to be pleasant to ensure return of business. I would have returned as I do with many Groupon businesses that I have good experiences with.

I bought an «Auto Care Super Saver» oil change punch card a bit over a year ago, planning to redeem it at this location as it was the only one close to me. The first and only time I went, they were completely courteous and quick, and the manager struck me as a really personable guy.
Over the past four months, I’ve tried to make an appointment there three times. Each time, I politely get put on hold, and told that, should I get disconnected (which they admit happens every now and then), I’d get a call back. Each time, I’ve gotten disconnected, have not gotten a call back, and have been unable to reach them upon later attempts.
A week has gone by now since it expired, and I told the manager of my past attempts and the responses I received. He denied those conversations ever having happened, that those words «aren’t in his vocabulary» and that he receives thousands of such calls all the time from similar punch card buyers.
Them getting swamped by bargain hunters armed with punch cards is understandable, and I get that not everyone with one is going to be able to redeem their full card with the overwhelming demand that must create. But I find the way my call was handled completely inappropriate, and having my experience completely denied really disrespectful.

They are fine for an occasional oil change. The A-​Hole who used to work the front desk is no longer there. I dealt with Louis (the owner) and he was great. Super friendly and helpful.

Horrible!!! What a rip off. These guys are thieves. They replaced a muffler for me with a factory part and then marked up the factory list price by $ 100 dollars. Stay away from these guys.

Unfortunately, Frank was extremely rude in my opinion. Not hostile, just rude. Bad day? He did not explain any of the inspections done on my vehicle and questioned if I knew anything about what I was requesting, which was quite condescending. He could’ve perhaps explained the reasons why each service is needed or not needed on my vehicle rather than assume I don’t know anything about what I’m asking for. I wasn’t called when my vehicle was ready for pick-​up, which was annoying and time consuming for me. I received a sheet with most things checked off, however, the inspection of exterior lights went overlooked, as I have a fog light broken and out, and the green box is checked. Why? Was it even looked at? My window sticker also has the wrong date, with the date from yesterday. This forces me to not believe in the thoroughness of the work, and I do not feel assured anything was done on my vehicle under the hood. How can I believe in the work?
If a customer comes in with a SuperSaver groupon, it doesn’t mean they are less of a valued customer. This was Frank’s primary aggravation, as he complained about their branch almost going bankrupt because of the groupon, and how customers don’t spend any money other than wanting the free services offered on the groupon. What in the world do you think the SuperSaver groupon is for? Is this my fault it’s a great deal for the customer? I wasn’t the one whom decided to do business with a groupon supersaver deal. I think customers should still be treated with value and not undermined just because we come in with a discount or free coupon for services.
Midas is an International Corporation, and I came to Midas for the reliability and service. I received none of this from the West Seattle, Fauntleroy Way branch. This makes me want to try out another branch and «poo poo» on the West Seattle, Fountleroy branch to their brother/​sister locations. What a waste of my time to feel uncertain about my vehicle’s maintenance when leaving Midas. I would like a new oil change, inspection, and maintenance services elsewhere. Also, why in the world is a brake service twice as much as the small shop directly across the street? I’m very disappointed with today’s interaction at Midas.
And Frank, if you’re reading this, I was nothing but nice to you, and you made me feel awful for coming in with a SuperSaver groupon, seeking help for my vehicle. If you’re having a bad day, just stay home or work outside on the cars rather than working with people. But other than that, I’m very disappointed to not feel confident in the work (as minimal as it was) done on my vehicle. I will take the major work needed on my vehicle somewhere else.
Maybe Midas corporation can send me free service vouchers to make me feel better, but who’s to say the guy behind the desk at the next place won’t also give me a guilt trip and have some lack in thoroughness??? I will get another inspection and see if the reports match. What a waste of my time! But some things are worth feeling safe in my vehicle…

Wow, read the bad reviews and I can’t believe it. Came in with a rusted muffler and told them another place wanted to charge me $ 368. They did it for me for $ 250. HAd to make an appointment because they had to order the part — other than that they had it done in an hour. Dealt with Frank and Louis and they were friendly and even made me smile.

I’ve been here twice and never had a problem except for the manager or whoever the fat guy is giving me an attitude about not confirming my appointment, which I did by the way and now today it was some other guy told me that he doesn’t have me for an appointment which I replied «I made an appointment 2 days ago online» and all of a sudden he said that they don’t do appointments anymore and it’s drop in only and they implemented this 3 weeks ago? What a joke of a place.

I could not be happier with this location. The customer service is fast and efficient and they go out of their way to make sure we are happy. The price and quality of the work can not be beat!

I bought an autosaver card through living social a while back. The 7^th Ave midas location shutdown, so I had to take my car to this location for an oil change. I made an appointment but was 30 min late. I got really lost and was crying by the time I arrived at midas. The guy at the counter (forgot to get his name) was nice and still fit me in. My back brake light was out, so they even replaced that for me at no charge. I left in a much better mood.

What a bunch of a**holes! I have never seen someone talk over & so rudely interrupter me when I am trying to ask a question in my life.
I had some issues with my car & barely was able to drive it to their shop. They checked it out and told me I need a new transmission & gears. I called the next week (exactly 1 week later) to ask for a piece of paper saying what they told me so I can give it to my car company showing them that it was no longer drive-​able. The guy says he has no record of it & he was the manager & the only one there & it would be in the system.
I say, «OK but I brought it in last week.» he starts talking over me telling me he can’t do anything if there is no record of it. (Like it’s my fault they didn’t keep record of it.) But he just starts talking over me, won’t let me say a word. I said «can you shut up and let me talk» NOPE, he had to keep running his mouth, wouldn’t let me say a word. Then I started to raise my voice. He of course HUNG UP. I didn’t get to say anything!
I’m DISGUSTED by their customer service. I will let my car die in the middle of the street & pay for it to be towed to downtown Seattle before I would EVER take it to this shop. Unbelievable!
If his customer service skills are a reflection on his work ethics I would FEAR him working on your vehicle.
Midas should really look into who they have working for them.
P. S. my vehicle is parked less than a block away. I will keep you posted if it’s vandalized in the next 48hrs. My money says it will be…

Midas was amazing!!! I came in with my red 1985 mercedes SL because the muffler clips fell off. They had extra parts in their shop and fixed it for free. Excellent service, very honest.

The Midas touch took up too much of my time…
My breaks had been grinding and squeaky on me for a while, so I decided it was time to have them checked. I used «Talk» for recommendations and also Google. I decided on Midas, I gave them a call asking for their hours on Saturday and how long it might take based on what I told them was wrong. Based on my plans for Saturday I woke up at the butt crack of dawn thirty and got there right when they opened which was 8:00 am.
I fill out the paper work, turn over my keys and they tell me they will call me in 45 minutes to let me know what’s wrong. The boy and I head up to the Junction for breakfast. 45 minutes come and go, 60 minutes come and go, and 75 minutes come and go, 90 minutes later I get a call from them. They tell me what’s wrong, what needs to be replaced/​fix/​filled and how much it will cost. I ask can you it done today, if so how long will it take? I’m told yes they can and it will take between an hour and a half and two hours I tell them to go ahead and take care of it. It’s 9:30 am at this time and I have plans at 1:00 pm even if they took a little longer than two hours I could still make my plans and not be late. I tell them to go ahead and fix them and give me a call when they are done.
11:30 comes and goes and I than ask the boy to drop me off because my car had to be done soon. I get there and it’s still up in the air with no tires on it and no one working on it. I ask the oh so helpful counter boy how much longer for my car since it was already over 30 minutes past the time they said it would be done, he tells me they are almost finished, I let him know I need to be somewhere by 1:00 pm and I’m told that it would be done soon. At 12:30 my car still isn’t done but at least someone is now working on it, I ask again how much longer, I’m told 10 more minutes. 12:40 comes my car goes from being on the ground to back up in the air. At this point I’m fuming, yes I know ‘car places’ are never right with time allotment or price but come on people this was getting ridiculous.
My car is finally done at 12:50 and the counter boy in his condescending customer service voice walks over and gives me a certificate for a free oil change to help make up for my wait. If I had not spent a few years of my life in customer service I would have thought «oh that’s really nice of him» just because of his voice, but I know that voice and it was way to condescending for me, and extremely insincere. Will I ever go back yes but only because I have to they still need to flush and clean my break fluid or something like that. Will I use my free oil change no I’d much rather go up the street to Jiffy Lube and have them do it for me.
The place did have a few pluses, the cost for one, very reasonable for what all I had done. The quality of the work, they did do a great job at what they did for me. The waiting area was clean, the chairs were a little uncomfortable but they had plenty of magazines to read, new additions and not all ‘car and truck’ types I caught up on Redbook and Good Housekeeping while I was waiting and I know now everything I need to know if I want to cook a romantic Valentines Day meal for the boy.
