I. Am. Humbled. Literally am still eating my first take out — I was at Dogwood, hungry, and too lazy to think of what to cook. Quick search on Unilocal turned up this place with a TON of good reviews– sounds good, I’ll check it out. Walk in and think meh. Look at the menu and think meh. Wonder idly if all the people writing their reviews are comparing to Olive Garden or Buca de Beppos(which is FINE, just not my jam). Order lasagna bolognese because I love that ish, and it comes with focaccia and I LOVE that ish. The piping hot bag is handed to me precisely 7 minutes later, I drove the next 6 minutes home — and it’s steaming away as I pop the container. Next? Delicious heaven. Focaccia is warm and crusty and soft all at the same time, speckled with gains of kosher salt. Lasagna is flatter than I’m used too, and there’s less sauce for sure than I’m used to — but I now wonder if what I’ve known has been wrong all along. Because this. Is. Yum. Super sad I skipped dessert cause I’m a pessimist, don’t be like me. Or do, cause I plan on going back for more ASAP.

So far so good :) Hubby and I discovered this little gem accidentally. We stopped by a day later and ordered to go. I thought it will be a «take home and bake» kind of deal, but instead we were treated to a hot meal that was ready to be devoured! And so it was. The lamb soup was delish! It was thick, seasoned to perfection to suit a rainy day. The bread was light, airy with the right amount of crust and crunch. The bolognese lasagna was gone within moments and I had only a small chance to try it before it disappeared completely. The seafood pasta came with a variety of seafood and it smelled great! It was definitely not a let-down! The restaurant is immaculate. Clean, minimalistic and friendly. A nice spot that manages the warmth of home cooking with the contrast of «coolness» in an almost industrial setting. Just placed our second order for them for a treat dinner!

The mushroom lasagna is super good. My friend really liked his meat lasagna too. The staff is really friendly and the service is fast. The prices are great too.

All the food is made on the spot, and the Panini I had was very tasty. The serving size was very generous, and the proprietor(real Italian) let me read his copy of the New York Times while I ate. I plan to return for some of their pasta, which of course is made on the spot.

Great small budget Italian restaurant. It’s got a fairly informal hip deli feel to it. The menu’s descriptions aren’t very stimulating, but the food more than makes up for it. The waiters are pretty courteous, though some of them are pretty shy. They store plastic cups and the water pitcher in the open fridge with the to go items. Portions aren’t large, but every menu item is served with soft delicious focaccia bread, which can be refilled for free. So in the end we were full of tasty Italian food for a fairly reasonable price. GOOD * Pollo Meatball /Beef Meatball — Both come with 6 balls, swimming in tomato sauce and olive oil. The meatballs are quite flavorful, and the tomato and olive oil make great dipping sauces for the focaccia bread. * Funghi Mushroom Lasagna — Creamy cheese and mushroom, with tasty lagsagna noodles. Though it was slightly ghetto that it came in a tin foil pan. * Seafood Pasta — Has a decent amount of clams and squid, which gives the light sauce a strong tasty shellfish flavor.

Overcome with curiosity about place, I decided to make a stop here for a late night dinner. And oh my goodness, I have severely been missing out on some legit amazingly good Italian food. Located next to 2C Thai and other stores along Lake City way, it’s pretty easy to pass by this place due to its simplicity in signage and décor. However, once inside, you’ll definitely feel at home with the rustic mix of modern interior and at night, the lights give the place a cozy feel. Based on Unilocal recommendations and a love for lasagna and mushrooms, I went with a take out order of the mushroom lasagna. Wait time was super short and the staff there is super nice and cheerful! Along with the lasagna, got the bread and cheesecake. Everything here is priced under $ 10, so it’s a great deal for a meal. By the time I got home, food was still pipin’ hot. If you’re used to the typical lasagna that is stacked with layers and thickly covered with sauce, this version from Mo & Lu is definitely in a league of its own. Thinly layered and perfectly baked, words cannot describe the amount of rich flavors you’ll taste in a single bite. From the creamy sauce to the tasty mushrooms, this was quite an exquisite dish that had me yearning for more. As for the bread, so big and crunchy. Perfect side dish to the lasagna. Finally, the cheesecake. This dessert was awesome. Soft, fluffy and not too sweet, I love how there was a citrus like taste to the cheesecake. In summary, food coma late at night for this place is worth it. Everything is homemade and you can taste it in every bite that the food isn’t too greasy or overly seasoned. I highly recommend trying this place out if you share a love for Italian food :)

Everytime I come to Mo & Lu Pasta Co. I either get the Salsiccia or the Bolognese. Hands down best Bolognese I have ever had! These guys know their pasta and I eat here at least twice a week.

Good food! Tuna sandwich was really filling and the capers were a nice touch. Lamb soup was delicious! Just the right seasonings and texture – but don’t look for large chunks of lamb because it’s been slow cooked«melts» into the soup. Seafood pasta was delicious as well – you can just taste the ocean! Place was pretty empty. Looks like the majority orders to go.

Quality tasty food with very reasonable prices. The portion is pretty generous too. I was glad to have left overs to bring home. The mushroom lasagna is our favorite. It came out got and fresh, perfect for a cold winter day. We will defiantly come visit again!

cute little place. the menu didn’t make the food seem appetizing at first by description BUT what I ate was sooooo good. I ordered The lamb soup and it hit the spot on a cold rainy day. it had black eyed peas and lentils with small pieces of carrots and potatoes and shredded lamb, I’m thinking shank. it was well flavored and came with a toasted piece of focaccia. yum. I can’t believe I was the only person eating lunch here. I’ll probably never come to this part of town again but if you’re local, it’s worth a shot. one tip-the bathroom is shared and located in a garage. it might be difficult for people who have small children or who are handicapped.

I don’t often dine out on Italian food, since I can cook, but we thought we would stop in since it was new, and looked pretty cool inside. I was immediately impressed by the industrial equipment and clean simple design of this place. The menu is simple and easy to order from, and right away we were offered a sample of the focaccia — it was REALLY good. We ordered the lasagna’s — both the mushroom and the meat, and a salad — and they were ALL pretty much amazing. Since, we have been back — a couple weeks later — it was THAT good. The food tastes clean and bright, and all the flavors meld beautifully. One of our new favorites. Just REALLY good, clean, hearty AUTHENTIC Italian food. What’s not to love?

I’m asking you to go and support this place. Authentic techniques, perfect al dente, fresh noodles, friendly service, and an unbeatable price. The reason I’m worried about this place disappearing is because their sauces are not incredibly salty or sweet – not like we’re used to here in America. There are definitely people that will consider the food bland. But laying off the salt and sugar allowed me to taste flavors I never tasted before at Olive Garden, or Old Spaghetti Factory, or wherever else. I tasted garlic, sweet basil, chewy noodles with some bite, and high quality meats. This is THE real deal. Go here expecting to appreciate quality ingredients and to get full, otherwise I wouldn’t bother!

Best Italian I’ve had in Seattle for an awesome price. I’m actually on my way to get some of that lasagna. Mmmmm.

I tried the cherry tomato pasta and the chicken panini. First, I love the simple décor and how clean everything was. Very nice. The menu is kind of minimalist as well, and it’s not all pasta. Second, the people running it were very nice. I’m giving it a good rating because the food was tasty. But I will say that it was not what I had expected when I ordered. Both of the dishes I ordered listed pesto in the descriptions. The pesto component was a lot less than I expected. The tomato pasta, saying it had cherry tomatoes, didn’t have any whole/half tomatoes — it was just a tomato sauce. So they could make that more clear. The pasta — good. Kind of thick(maybe because I’m not used to fresh pasta?), but good. Sauce was yummy. Pesto was kind of… limited. The sandwich had a lot of finely chopped chicken. It was very tender, clean, had a lot of darker meat. I personally think the sandwich could have used a little more tomato/pesto, and maybe less chicken. But I’m sure others will like it just fine as-is. Flavor was fine.

This a pretty new establishment but the owners are not new to the industry. They are good at what they do. It seems like a bit finer dining level ingredients, taste, and preparation but delivered in a very simple and casual experience. They have limited seating and menu, but I think that you can definitely find something you would like. My all time favorite are the salads. They have an incredible selection of great quality toppings. The owners are super sweet and very accommodating to any changes that I request with my order. Also they have other staff there that seems a bit more timid, but they are always friendly and courteous. I have enjoyed all of my experiences here. I enjoy dining in; the interior is simple with the décor but nice. I strongly recommend going to give it a try! Don’t forget to get a slice of cheesecake — it’s amazing!

I honestly never go on here to review any places because they’re so incredibly mediocre. But not this place. It’s a gold mine that opened a few months ago nobody knows about. But everyone should. I’ll start be saying that my family is all from the East Coast, New York to be specific. And we all can appreciate our home made traditional REAL Italian food. Unfortunately living in Washington makes that pretty hard. Because nobody over here knows what they’re doing. You don’t need glam and shine to make a place look enticing! The simplicity of the restaurant immediately made me feel comforted and at home. As if I was going to eat with my Grandma and enjoy one of her home cooked meals. We had the lasagna with mushrooms which was divine. I don’t particularly even enjoy mushrooms but the way the pasta melted in your mouth. I couldn’t stop eating it. Everything is fresh and home made. And the proof is in the pudding people. The meatball and pasta. Don’t even get me started. Perfect sweet NY light style sauce with a bam of flavor from herbs. The meatballs… THEMEATBALLS! I couldn’t eat one of them without closing my eyes and making mmmmm noises! So much flavor and the aftertaste was wonderful. The lamb soup. The meat was so incredibly tender and the broth so flavorful that I couldn’t stop dipping my fresh focaccia bread into it! And finally we took home some cheesecake to top it off. Surprised if I say I wasn’t disappointed? More people need to know about this place and support it. They don’t need to advertise… they don’t need to shout it out loud… they just need our word of mouth to spread how incredibly traditional this place is. The love is in the food. I will be a forever customer.

Really excellent pasta dishes. We tried the beef meatballs, cherry tomato pasta, and the seafood pasta. All were terrific, and the focaccia bread is excellent as well. For what you’re getting the price is quite reasonable. They make an effort to reduce the number of ingredients that go in to the dishes, and everything tasted very vibrant and fresh. Dishes can be prepared there or you can take them home, uncooked, to prepare yourself. The owner and his wife are super nice — I highly recommend getting to know them, too.

I’ve really enjoyed my experiences at Mo&Lu. The food is overall very good. My personal favorite is the salad. They have so many different quality toppings and the pesto sauce is a must! That large salad also comes with a side of ciabatta bread for about 9 dollars. I’ve also enjoyed the pork panini which was also good, but I prefer eating sandwiches with a side item but no sides available here. As for pastas, they are quite tasty, but for 9 dollars I expected a deeper dish pasta than something that’s barely an inch high. The restaurant itself is simple, quaint, and clean, but more importantly, they have very kind and caring staff members. I’d say give it a try if you like Italian since they make good quality food. I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll like!

Excited to have a place like this open on Lake City Way and hope it only brings more eateries like this in the neighborhood. Love that you can get food warmed up to go, eat in, or even take out cold to cook at home. Décor is clean and modern, but also warm and inviting with the wood counters, diner style chairs and handwritten chalkboard menu. Not overdone or pretentious in the way a new restaurant can be. We liked that the menu was simple and weren’t overwhelmed with too many options. The focus is clearly on quality over quantity. We ordered heated food to go– the meat lasagne and pork panini. It was the perfect take home dinner for two. Everything was wrapped delicately and prepared with care. The food was light and fresh and perfectly seasoned. Nothing was overly cooked or too heavy with cheese or sauce– it was just right. We were given samples of their soup when we got there and it was so delicious we bought a tomato soup just to have for lunch the next day. Also took home their cheesecake– it was light and fluffy with the perfect citrus touch. A definite must have. Only wish we bought a salad to try as well. Will definitely be going back. Please check out! We need to support our small businesses!

The pork sandwich I had yesterday fell short of expectations! The fresh ciabatta here is amazing, but it’s wasted on toppings that lack finesse in prep: — The pork tried to mimic porchetta you’d find in most delicatessens, but it was bland and really dry. — The grilled onions and gorgonzola were a nice touch, but the pesto di basilico tasted off. I revised my rating to 3*(4* for the prior visit and 2* yesterday). I recommend that you order a pasta/lasagna dish over a sandwich here.
