I have only good things to say about Nellie’s. First and foremost, the guy knows how to pull shots, and they use lighthouse coffee, my favorite coffee in Seattle. The location is fun(I love the locks). Their toasts are the perfect lunch snack(not many coffee shops have savory options). I often come here if I need to clear my head or to get away from the city. It’s such a treat to sit outside and sip their delicious Americano and to know they won’t involve you in inane conversation.

cute concept! Never seen toast served as a specialty at a coffee joint before! The bread is sliced super thick from Great Harvest and I played it safe and got the PB and J.(blackberry) They also offer savory toast with cheese also! Coffee is great… they do latte art so that’s a plus ! =)

So still… too much foam. Less foam than previously, but more than I like. My coffee feels too light when I pick it up. Are they trying to tell me something? REALLYLIKE the toast menu. One piece of toast = meal. Huge slices of Great Harvest Bread Co. bread, and lots of odd things on it… pb&j, swedish cheese, apple butter… it’s all good. I personally like the cheese toast. Cash and check only!

Don’t underestimate this little fire cracker due to it’s diminutive size! Great use of space Delicious Lighthouse Roasters espresso Cute latte art Check out the Japanese rose garden and the loch next door If you get stuck waiting for a weekend brunch table at the nearby Portage Bay Café this is the perfect distance to stroll to, grab an coffee, and return to take your seat with out having to death stare someone lingering too long over their check/final mouthful. I need to visit again to try their toast menu. Who doesn’t love toast?

I would have given them at least 3 stars if not for the bad attitude of the owner. Coffee was good, I dig the wall of mugs you can choose from when you’re drinking«in», I’m even cool with the oddly sterile but comfortable décor… but I *cannot*(and should not) tolerate consistently dour employees. You can tell when someone’s having a bad day vs. they don’t want to be there(or at least, don’t want *you* to be there). I can roll with the first if the service and the product is still decent — everyone’s entitled to a shit day here and again — but ol’ Nellie here is apparently 365ing this attitude. Seriously, lady — find a different calling if making coffee and toast is such a fucking drag for you. Either that, or take a cue from the dude you work with — he may not necessarily be Mr. Smiley, but at least he’s not trying to drive away customers. Finally: there’s no wifi and they don’t take credit cards. Not a dealbreaker, but it doesn’t help.
