Performance Bicycle

Avoid this place at all costs. Over glorified used car salesmen. They claim to have «free lifetime tune-​ups» and «lifetime guarantee» which are both false and deceiving.
Free lifetime tune-​ups = $ 80 each time you bring your bike in.
Lifetime Guarantee = if you’re unhappy, we’ll try to sell you more parts. Or tell you that the bike isn’t a fit for you a year later and if you want to return it or swap it, we’ll give you 60% of the price you paid towards a new bike.
Gunnar sold me a bike, overall was a decent experience at the time, but when things started going wrong with the bike they said it was «normal,» and attempted to charge me for tune ups. Horrible customer service.
Whole process has been terrible and I’m left with a poor quality bike that they won’t fix without charging me, and basically advised that I either sell it or take a major loss and spend a ton more money.
Do yourself a favor and go support a local bike shop. All their sales at this place are a fraud and so are their promises. They just want to see you walk out the door to make their sales quotas.
I will never spend another dollar here.

DUNDERHEADS! CARELESS! I had purchased many items here over the years, even paid to be a rewards program member. But now, i’ll have no need to go back here again.
I took a bike in to have the headset completed, and they were able to find the parts on hand to complete and re-​assemble it. Great. I took off for a ride, starting down a very busy, jam-​packed 4 lane road, and very soon after the handlebars spun to the side. I was very lucky that i hadn’t lost control of the bike in the midst of busy traffic and got hit… I pulled up onto a sidewalk and discovered that the mechanic was SO UNBELIEVABLY SLOPPY, HE HADN’T TIGHTENED THE STEM TO THE FORK STEER TUBE AT ALL! THE SCREWS WERE COMPLETELY LOOSE… A call to the mechanic Eric just got an off-​hand apology, and an offer to tighten the screws. Gee, thanks. When i met with the very rules-​following manager (in regard to returns) he apologized, but had nothing to offer about what they’d do to prevent such a potentially disastrous mistake from happening to another rider.
Also: I have time and again found them to be disorganized. Example: I recently ordered an item. I went to pick it up, waited for 10 minutes for them to find it, which they didn’t… Had to go back later, and the mechanic immediately pulled what i had ordered rite off of a shelf.
I give the place a second start because the crew has generally been cheerful and has attempted to be helpful, but with so many good bike shops in town, there’s no reason to put up with any of this. And paying $ 30 for a rewards program is no good. You’ve got to make $ 300 in purchases just to break even… And i realized it’s a bad idea to pay for ANY rewards program. They’re free almost anywhere as incentive to get repeat patronage.
Also, if you have to drive, parking is only pay-​on-​the-​street and is VERY DIFFICULT to find.

These guys are awesome. So awesome, that I’m going to sell my brand new Specialized mtn bike just so I can be a customer of theirs. I went in one day just to get a 3 dollar part, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Then I was chatting with the guy at the register (Delaney) and he told me about a group bike ride that he was trying to organize. Since I was new to the whole mtn bike «scene» I jumped on the opportunity and was looking forward to it for weeks. Day of the ride comes, and I take my Specialized bike (a brand that they don’t even sell) in to the shop to meet up with the group. Everyone was super nice, made sure I had everything I needed, and even complimented my new bike that was a brand that they don’t even carry (I know I mentioned that already, but just to reiterate). Made it to the trails, and Delaney made sure everyone was set up, bikes were tuned, and everyone was good to go. I didn’t know what to expect at all, but he held our hands through the whole thing. Delaney is a REALLY good rider, but he still took the time to take us down unfamiliar trails, give us tips on jumps, and just any general riding question he knew the answer and was happy to help. All of this, and he didn’t charge any of us a penny. I had the opportunity to go with a skilled rider to a place I had never been on a bike I had never really ridden, for zero dollars. That shop has some knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly people working behind those doors. I really look forward to the next ride and supporting this shop now and in the future.

After the district manager got in touch with me and we talked through my concerns. We came to a mutual agreement that the shops tech was at fault. The manager replaced my cleats and took the time to take care of me as a custumer i feel my concerns were addressed and that my business is appreciated and wanted.

Dylan, Eric, Gunnar, and the rest of the shop guys are great. I just bought my new bike here, and they made sure the setup was perfect before I left the shop. Very helpful advice, good product knowledge, and excellent customer service. They patiently and thoroughly answered all of my questions.

Worst bike shop in Seattle. Terrible customer service. Go anywhere else but here.

Great bike shop. I had no intention of buying a bike. Delaney was so helpful and gave me genuine answers to all my questions. 2 days later I bought the bike of my choice at a reasonable price too. I have had my bike a month now and it’s everything he said and more. Mountain biking is so much better now.

Had an emergency flat. Choose these guys out of any number of other bike shops. Bought a tube they let me use their gear to change it out myself. Got a new helmet on sale that I really like. Good shop, good dudes.

The person who helped me was super nice and helped me figure out the flat tire on an old road bike. He let me try putting on new tires and tubes in the store and if it didn’t work, I wouldn’t need to pay. He was super helpful and made sure the wheels were perfect. Thanks a lot!

best location to take u bike to fix. I can say less about how great is working with the tech Eric, nice persons in the planet. I will get my stuff from seattle even I am really close to Tukwila, But don’t recommend, Talk with David or girl with short hear cut,

This place is just great. I had been struggling with a brake issue for months and each time I tried to fix it myself… well, that’s just say it was a mess. As soon as I stepped foot into Performance Bicycle Zac greeted me, assessed the situation, and had my bike 100% fixed in a matter of minutes. Performance Bicycle does a great job when hiring knowledgeable employees and Zac is no exception. He truly is a treasure! Riding home on my fixed bike was magical! Thanks Performance Bicycle! Great helpful staff!!!

A nice place to stop for bikes, accessories and mechanical help. I’ve had two mechanics take the to time to explain to me how certain parts function on my bicycle, saving me money otherwise spent on unnecessary replacements or upgrades. Rather understaffed, but the people working there are super chill and fun to chat with. Accessories also come with a lifetime warranty, which is pretty awesome.

Customer service was incredible (shocked to read the bad experience reviews). My rep, Denali, SPENT AN HOUR WITH JUST ME — answering all of my questions and fitting me for a bike. I am a ‘born again biker’ aka haven’t been on a bike since college — 10 years ago. Denali was EXTREMELY HELPFUL, PATIENT and most importantly KNOWLEDGEABLE! Honestly, he gave me the beginning basics on bikes — I learned the difference between rim brakes and disc break; carbon fiber versus alumnium versus steel and how the ride varies with each frame and what is best depending on how you are using your bike; switching gears and what to look /​listen for so you don’t ruin your chain and how much air should be put in your tires.
Honestly, I learned so much. I didn’t even purchase a bike as I wanted to try other ones (after reading suggestions), he didn’t make me feel guilty or hesitate to answer any of my questions. The best part? He gave me a handshake and told me to come back and see him regardless of where I made the purchase.
I had a wonderful experience.

Wow… really? Ten minutes in the store looking at a several thousand dollar bike… and no one paid the least attention. Actually walked over and walked right past their sales associate, — who was busy arranging clothing — couldn’t be bothered to even say hello.
As I was leaving, a girl came in trying to buy a pump… I told her to go out and get her bike, then brought her to the back where 3 people were all too busy, told them what she needed, to air up her tire, and to sell her a pump, made sure they understood that, and left.
Funny how I was the only one working there… and quite sad that I was the only one who cared.

I bought a wonderful Diamondback bike here for a great price., However, with the exception of their manager, I’ve never had a pleasurable service experience at this shop and the rest of the crew that I’ve dealt with have been incompetent. Even the day I bought my bike, the guy I worked with had me climb on a trainer to which he hadn’t secured the bike and I promptly ate concrete. I’ve finally resolved after going in there today to get a single tire trued and being told I could come back for it on Saturday (3 days for a 10 min job?) that I will never be returning. I’d rather pay for my service elsewhere then use the free service granted with my bike purchase at this shop.

The WORST customer sevice. I have tried and tried again, over several years, hoping this place would get better. But it hasn’t. I JUST walked in here simply asking for change for a 5 for the bus. 3 guys behind the counter. Two of them claimed they could not open the register and proceeded to just stand there and do absolutely nothing. The third guy was in the middle of some lengthy paperwork that probably shouldn’t have been taking up the only register available. After standing there for several minutes, during which register guy never even acknowledged my presence, I had no choice but to miss the bus and go down the street.
Should I have had change? Sure. But, shit happens. These guys display zero care for their community or fellow neighbors, unless you’re putting money in their hands.

I went to Performance to look for a handlebar basket, after another bike shop near Greenlake was going to charge me $ 20 to install a $ 30 basket, nor did they have time to do so. The person at the register at Performance installed the basket in 10 minutes, and did not charge me anything. I would definitely shop at Performance again after the great customer service I was given.

Each time we go here we have authentic, great service. The staff is knowledgeable based on experience and is so genuine. I appreciate each thing they say!
They work so hard and could use more help but, each one of them is nice.
Drake sold me a fabulous bike yesterday! I have not rode a bike in years and have gone on two bike rides in less than 24 hours. He switched the pedals that came with the bike, shared his biking experiences, and told me what he loves about biking. He also sold be an affordable helmet that is so comfortable I don’t even dread putting it on.

Thanks to Beau and CJ for being so helpful with my daughter’s first attempt to assemble the bike.
We were here for a triathlon race and I was unsure of our assembling ability so I needed to rebuild the disassembled bike in a shop in case we lost somethings and needed to buy tools. We chose PB in Seattle because we had such excellent service from the Campbell store.
Our expectations were met and we are happy to report that the Seattle Store manager was very cool about allowing us build in the store. After Beau helped us secure the bike, we assembled and then had Beau’s final Qa/​Qc check on it, we were good to go.

I’m really struggling with how to rate this place, because I’ve received outstanding service from all the staff here (hence the extra star), but the place is terribly UNDERstaffed and corporate really screws the customer over on the membership points.
Came in needing to buy a bike and this was the first place I went. Haven’t ridden one since a kid, am petite in size and pretty much fall on and off most bikes as they are too big in frame for me. Waited about 15 minutes for any service as there were only 2 people helping customers in the front and both were occupied at the cash.
Emilio (with the dangly earring) was very helpful, but this location hardly had any petite bikes (I’m only 5’2″, BTW, hardly a hobbit). Emilio was smart enough to point me to the hybrids and got a few for me to ride (some of which were too big). Performance can put together a bike but I’d have to go back the next day to try it out. Finally found the bike of my dreams through trial and error.
As we took so long figuring out what we wanted, the Manager (extremely helpful and proactive) finally checked us out. Performance has a program where you can get membership points based on your purchases, but we were unable to use these points till the day after (which we weren’t told of in advance). After spending all that time getting accessories for the bike we had to put everything on hold and just bought the bike.
Next day went back to get the accessories… and…the points still hadn’t registered. Apparently had to wait 24 hours for corporate to let the points through. Seriously. BTW, waited about another 10 minutes to be told this.
Day after went back AGAIN and all but 5000 points had been credited to my account (though we received no explanation why). So ended up paying $ 7 for all the stuff.
This place would be good for someone who’s starting out with cycling, I think. The store stocks the necessary accessories for biking (ie. Water bottle holder, bells, carry alls) but not a deep selection. Clothing’s also expensive. Would be a good place for a quick last minute purchase but I’m sure there’s more selection and better deals elsewhere.
