I found Pete’s Perfect Toffee from Mountlake Terrace while hanging out at the Ballard Farmer’s Market. I bought a small container of his espresso toffee for $ 7 and boy, was it delicious! Slightly sweet, a little bitter from the coffee beans, and the perfect amount of butter! The person at the booth was super nice and let us try a bunch of samples. The coconut toffee looked fabulous as well! Definitely pay this booth a visit!

I wouldn’t have bought it if I realized that it has nut dust on the outside and not chopped nuts like most toffee. It was okay, the toffee itself was too crunchy for me compared to other toffees I’ve tried. But some people might like that texture and the nut dust instead of actual chopped nuts. I also didn’t notice the ingredients on the label until after I bought it. They use a non-stick spray as part of their manufacturing process that includes canola oil(what I consider to be an industrial oil) and a propellant. The propellant might be something like nitrogen or carbon dioxide but it could also be hydrocarbons like propane or butane. I don’t use things like PAM cooking spray at home any longer because of propellants, I certainly don’t want them in my candy.
