Going here is all about the convenience. While anyone could certainly pop in and grab food or a beverage, its primary purpose is to serve the patients, caregivers and staff of the SCCA clinic. There are sandwiches you can grab and go and also hot, freshly prepared food. They almost never have a vegetarian option and definitely not vegan. If you have special requirements this isn’t the place for you. They don’t accommodate changes very well. You really have to just take what is offered or nothing at all. Having said all that, the person I am caring for is always happy with what they get from here. The food is fresh and it prepared with extra care and safe food handling practices so that even neutropenic patients can have what they’re offering.

Well, my first time in the bistro wasn’t that I went there for something to eat for the hell of it… it was because I was undergoing chemo and radiation. With that being said, this is the best place for anyone in any condition to get good nourishment. Everything is made from scratch… fresh daily sammies, bfast, entrees and 2 soups(one veg. soup)…best thing for me are the soups, I adore them. I have yet to have a bad cup of soup, just once did I have one that was a wee bit too salty. Chef Chris makes a bad ass gazpacho with heirloom tomatoes, best I’ve had since living in Spain. I specifically went one day for the gazpacho and I was crestfalllen to find it was gone, down to the last spoonful.(sniff, sniff) If you get there early enough for brekkie you gotta try the egg sammies, beautiful pillowy scrambled eggs just about melt in your mouth. Good oatmeal too if you want a rib sticker and chill buster on these frigid mornings. The staff there are the best folks I’ve ever met in the food industry, no mierda! They know that the majority of the people who pass through aren’t there for a happy meal w/friends, they are there out of necessity so they make sure to give good service along w/good karma. As for good humor, Mimo is not to be overlooked, I tell him he’s not right in the head and he tells me he loves me… big flirt that one! I’ve been giving them my money for great food, service and friendship since 2008 and I will continue to do so even after my docs say I’m good ta go and they don’t want to see me anymore. Much love and light to the RBB gang, I appreciate you all!

I love The Farm breakfast omelet. Bacon crumble, sausage, red peppers, green onions, cheese, and fluffy egg batter. Soooo good early in the morning if you have time to kill in the morning. At $ 4.25 its might seem a little pricy but pair it with a $ 1.60 Starbucks Frappachino and it’s really yummy. The salads are fresh and delicious, sandwiches are awesome, soup is excellent(cheddar and potato is THEBOMB) and tge best part is, it’s a small caffiteria in the Seattle Cancer Care Allience! This place rocks! And everything is approved for people with suppressed immune systems!

Maybe it’s just that I was so surprised to see a chef cooking fresh sole to order in a Cancer Care Alliance cafeteria! Or maybe it was the seriously friendly(in a good way) check-out guy. Or maybe it was the snug little seating area with über clean seats and good ambiance. But I suspect it was the fresh, very tasty tofu fajita. Lots of nice fresh chunky tofu, peppers and onions, spiced very well but not too hot, wrapped in two warmed flour tortillas, and served with sour cream, queso fresco, salsa, and a sprig or two of cilantro, accompanied by steamed green and yellow summer squash and healthy brown rice. Yum! And only $ 6.95! And they’ve got a huge selection of Odwallas in the cold case, along with a nice selection of fancy sodas and whatnot… I ate tasty food in a quiet, restful setting, washed it all down with a Super Green, and got out for under ten bucks. Good one, SCCA!

Roll your eyes if you must: I am reviewing a nook-sized work cafeteria. But…it is damn good. They really have a focus on the fresh, local, organic, and tasty. Not good enough to make a destination, but if you work along Eastlake at «the Hutch» or thereabouts, it’d be a short walk. Seriously delicious, chunky gazpacho. Parmesan crusted chicken with pesto sauce. Tasty fish. Cheap, tasty oatmeal. Maple butter with my French toast? Don’t mind if I do.
