Wrote this review 4 years ago: Glad this place is closed. Even so much as to write a review after it’s closed. That’s how much I disliked this place: If you like false advertisements and immature Bartenders go here. I recently went to club RepubliQ, this last weekend and what would otherwise have been a pretty good club experience was ruined by shady, make-u-wait-unless-you’ve-got money-for-me security, and immature bartenders that want to make female patrons feel little, and helpless. My girl was trying to get her credit card back from a bartendar, and he was playing-hide-and-go-seek with her card, wouldn’t give it back to her… and then flash it from behind the counter when she was going by… repeatedly throughout the night. Wow-bad form– Way to take away from the clubbing experience. Sound was decent, except for a VIP couch directly in front of the main DJ and on the dance floor… what club does that? The last few hours were solid, until they, closed the club an hour early, and didn’t give out free mimosas and bagels for after hours as promised on the flyer. All in all, after travelling to a lot of clubs in the world in the military, I can tell you that if you wanna be shortchanged, treated poorly and have bartenders play games with your credit cards-this is the place for you. Otherwise, one of the worst clubbing experiences I’ve ever had in my life.

I’ve been to vegas clubs and they set the standard pretty high. but this place was really dead like even the bouncers were dancing on the dance floor, guys were leaving demanding hotdogs for paying to get in for nothing but i give it a star for their bathroom, its pretty nifty having co-ed sinks, now if only there was a pretty girl to wash my hands with

I don’t understand a cover charge for any club in Seattle– especially when a watered-down drink is so expensive. The scene here is not worth paying any kind of money for, unless there’s someone performing. Anyway, Repuliq was empty for the entire night when I last went. I’ve been before and couldn’t move because there were so many people, but it was a strange Friday… yet another reason I don’t understand covers. Everyone seemed reluctant to dance since there were so few people… anyone on the dancefloor would have been the center of attention by default. Also, I know it’s a night club, but the music here is ridiculously loud. So loud that I couldn’t feel my cellphone vibrating in my hand. The playlist was okay, but not memorable. Toward the end of the night, they started playing reggae, which is my fave, so I’ll add a star for that. But otherwise, no. Definitely won’t be returning.

I went to RepubliQ for the first time last Thursday to see a friend open for the Sander Van Doorn show. I at first had a bit of trouble finding the place, simply because I had no idea the area south of Starbucks HQ had gotten so developed with a nightlife scene. It’s a good thing to see the club scene expand into this formerly industrial, unattractive area. The space at RepubliQ is very impressive, with several go-go platforms and a VIP room on the second floor. RepubliQ’s design is very airy, clean and modern, reminding me more of a Vegas-style club than anything else I’ve ever seen locally. The club’s closest Seattle contemporary is probably Pink, the spot above Pacific Place, only without the outrageous lines and general douchiness: p The sound system nearly knocked me sideways. What a great place to dance your ass off to awesome progressive trance, woohoo! Drinks are strong and inexpensive, coat check is cheap and available, the crowd was beautiful like only the electro crowd is… I highly recommend a stop at RepubliQ if you want to see Seattle’s electronic scene at its best!

Definitely a gorgeous venue and an ideal spot if you want to have 10, 20 or 30 of your friends come out to celebrate a birthday, bachelor/ette party, etc. I’ve come here for a few different types of events and have had a good time. Like most clubs, the drinks here are overpriced and mediocre. If you like something simple(i.e rum & coke, gine & tonic, vodka soda, etc) then this is your spot. Don’t expect to find folks like Erik Hakkinen or Phillip Thompson mixing drinks though! I’m sure getting a sazerac, Mahhattan or even and old fashioned is too complicated here. Music selections is usually Top 40 or Hip Hop, no food that I recall. There are options for private parties upstairs and there’s even a back room to rent out for groups. I usually pay for a cab because the SODO location is way out of the way and although it’s not hard to find parking, we all know drinking and driving don’t mix. Plan ahead, cab rides from any direction are gonna be $ 15+ each way.

I left Republiq with a good first impression. Parking was easy to find. No cover fees til after 11 and if you get your name on the guest list. Two bars. Big, roomy dance floor. Great songs. The first night my girls and I were there, we got hit on by two significantly different group of guys. First group were a bunch of easy-going, friendly dudes that burst their in way into our dance circle. Due to their humor and their silly dancing, we didn’t mind. Second group of guys were more reserved and shyly danced their way into our«circle». One of them eventually fell madly in love with my friend and tried to get her number or at least friend her on Facebook. Failed but cute to watch his attempts. We danced in our heels til our feet wanted to die. And I think we sort of fell in love with Republiq that night. It didn’t last though. The other two visits my friends and I made on a Friday night were not fun. On both Fridays, barely anyone on the dance floor… actually, there were about 7 people on one of the Fridays. We danced anyway but did not enjoyed it. We didn’t want to a waste a Friday and made the most of it. I always have the same complaint about dance venues when they disappoint me. It’s harder to let loose when there is less than 50 people on the dance floor. If you are the one out of the 50 dancing, the other 49 are watching you. I know my friends and I are hot to watch but that’s w-e-i-r-d and a little creepy people! Go dance. The venue can be great but if the people aren’t dancing, it’s like they’re not enjoying themselves or trying to enjoy the night. No fun. I will go back to Republiq because I have yet to find something better. Please don’t fail me. I want to stay in love with you.

For the dancing platforms alone, I give ‘em 4 stars. I love that I can just go on the platform and dance my butt off. One night, I stayed on there all night. This is the best place to dance on stage. They encourage it. I appreciate it. As for the venue, it’s a spot you’d find in Vegas. The décor makes me feel like I’m out of Seattle – even though it’s in the Sodo district.(The scene in this area is growing pretty fast.) This is a place I’d go to as the last stop on my way home because it’s so far away from everything else. What I do like about it is that it carries a diverse crowd(at least on Saturdays). Plus there are two other venues – one to the left and one to the right – that I can escape to. I never have, but I like the ability to. Music is good depending on the DJ and lights are cool, but parking sucks. I make sure to pray to the parking gods the day before. Inside there’s another area that they’ll open up if it’s busy with two V.I.P areas. I can dig the V.I.P. on the bottom/dance floor, but the V.I.P. upstairs is not as fancy as one would think. It’s pretty small. Unless there was someone special up there, it’s not so special. You don’t need to see it. Overall, it’s a cool spot. Oh yeah, the bathroom is small and the wash area is a shared space – in case that matters to you.

Music: 4 Setting: 3 People: 3 Drinks/Prices: 2 The Venom of SoDo. Really, I kid you not, the go-go dancers are directed imported. This place just opened up recently. The setting is decent and artfully done(perhaps not considering the two platforms on either side of the main floor sporting the go-go girls), though I was only privy to the main dance floor. They have a special up stairs section, but unfortunately this night was Captain Morgan’s birthday and they reserved the section. Really, I kid you not, Captain Morgan held a promotion there. A dozen surgically enhanced girls armed with boobs of legend accompanied the Captain as they made the rounds around the club giving away t-shirts and other trinkets. They also appear to have a back section that they have yet to open up. The prices were stupid expensive. The crowd was… just like Venom. The music was decent.

Nice venue and décor. I went here on a Friday night to celebrate my brother’s 21st birthday. The location was convenient and there were tons of free street parking. Entry was free because we were on the guest list. I think it’s quite easy if you register on their website. The DJ was great(DJ Shookz)! He played hip hop, top 40, and mixed well. They had a photobooth vendor setup for everyone to get pictures taken, go go dancers, and easily accessible bars. The downsides from my experience: they served me warm beer(major no-no), had a limited selection of alcohol(I think it’s targeted towards a specific crowd), the crowd was quite young, coat check was $ 5, and the minimum credit card charge is $ 20. Despite that, we still had a good time.

I really wasn’t a fan of this place. It’s in SODO which I don’t really like because there’s nothing else nearby. I also didn’t like the layout of the place. The biggest issue: why was it SOBRIGHT?! There also seemed to be a lot of guys there that just… didn’t know when they were rude, over-the-top and didn’t know how to leave you alone! The one plus was the bartender who gave my friend buy one get one free drinks for her birthday. I can see some people having fun here, but I don’t think this place was for me.

Well, ventured to this place again last night. A bunch of my girlfriends were supposed to be on the guest list but my name was mysteriously not on it. Fail again. The staff was slightly less douchey and despite the enforced no reentry they did allow me back in after I went to my car for a minute without having to pay an additional $ 10(since they already got that earlier!) Music was crap, crowd was a bunch of lookie-loos and doods whose approach to women is to do a male stripper groin swivel. Had to dance with my back to the wall to avoid such attentions and when I did actually get a brief groove on I offended a photographer because I accidentally kicked him. Only your hips are supposed to move at this place! Still not impressed. Beautiful venue but it needs better dj’s and less pretentiousness. And re: the reviewer who claims ALL clubs play music on the radio, have douchey staff, etc. That is a falsehood. Obviously you haven’t experienced what the REALEDM scene is like in Seattle. There is LOT of excellent dj’s/musicians being brought to different clubs and this club is NOT one of them!

Why are drinks SO pricy here? … So confused… because they’re not particularly stiff either. Sigh. Anyway, the atmosphere is pretty cool and I like the dance floor area because it’s pretty big and spatious. It can still definitely get sweaty and stinky though. But that’s expected. I also like that there’s an exit to the smoking area for people who want to smoke, get some fresh air or whatever. It’s convenient because then you don’t have to keep re-entering from the main entrance like some clubs. For some reason, the bottom bar area reminds me of the Venom bar… not sure if that’s good or bad but I’ve definitely had fun at both so I suppose it’s neutral. Parking’s decent… but SoDo is still kind of deep for nightlife in Seattle.

Normally I can have fun almost anywhere but RepubliQ has proved me wrong. Yeah I can give it some credit for it’s vegas-esque interior but that’s it. The back of the place near the VIP area smelled like paint which was not pleasant. There was a fight that broke out that night and I do not understand why the bouncers did not break it up right away. That definitely was a mood killer. I also was not a fan of the music, which was primarily top 40 but it was manageable to deal with. I do love to dance and tend to dance with others but I did not appreciate being grabbed by the hips and getting dry humped on by guys. Fellas, there are definitely smoother ways to dance with the ladies! In conclusion, this would not be my top choice for dance clubs. There are so many better places to hit up if you want to listen and dance to good music. I will only go if a good friend of mine chooses to celebrate or if I am inebriated. Btw, I noticed a comment that mentioned that all clubs have douchey bouncers, trashy girls top 40 music, etc. I disagree with that statement because not all clubs are like that and that doesn’t mean it’s a good club.

Venue is very nice. Located in SODO so parking is easier than the crowded streets of Belltown and Pioneer Square. The building is fairly new so the look of the décor is also modern. Most dancing is done in the middle of the dance floor, there are 3 go go platforms which illuminate bellow the dancers. Vip areas are on a stage behind a dj booth and up in the loft. They have 3 bars which is very convenient to quickly get your drink. Their bathroom is interesting, the door to the left are for women’s toilets and the door on the right is for men, while in the middle it’s a row of sinks for both to use. Also their toilets are automatic so that’s a bit more useful for girls who usually have to use their foot to flush. Music and experience varies depending on which promotion company is running that night.

the ONLY reason to come here is for whatever special musical guests they have brought to town. NOTHINGELSE. the location itself amazes me as to why anyone would drive all the way out there to be ripped off. Maybe they’re slowly buidling up business on that street, but it’s gonna take a LONG while. But, for now, parking is free everywhere(street/back alley parking) Coat check is $ 5! Really?! $ 5? Trinity is $ 3, c’mon! Drinks — $ 7 for a vodka cran, that basically only tastes like cran? LAME. I had 2 drinks that night and didn’t even catch a buzz(and i’m a lightweight) The venue itself is actually kind of nice. Lots of vantage points to see the DJ. 3 spots for gogo girls, everything looks pretty classy. We never got to check out the upstairs area because i think it was for VIP tickets. Other reviews are correct about their sound system. It’s really nice. The dancefloor must have just been waxed because it was like a fricken’ ice skating rink. i’ve never experienced that in all the clubs in seattle. luckily i didn’t fall down. unless they bring in another amazing DJ I’ll stay far far away from Republiq.

I dont know why people are giving this place poor reviews, its a CLUB for christsake. And with ALL clubs there will always be –Douchebag bouncers –Same music you hear on radio –Skanky girls –Drunk guys –Crowded people dancing –Expensive drinks –Trashed bathrooms So people, if this environment is NOT for you, go hang out at the library! Don’t get mad at the club because you didn’t have a good time, it’s probably your attitude! Anyways I always have a good time at this place, Guys; dress up a bit cough up some confidence and approach some girls here, most have been welcome and friendly.

This place wasn’t too bad. A lot of the reviews said it was ghetto and what not but to me it wasn’t that bad… then again, I am from Long Beach and not from Seattle so my definition of ghetto is different from people in Seattle. It was pretty packed but it wasn’t too bad for me. Drink prices weren’t that bad and the bartenders did a GREAT job dealing with all of the customers. Now for the downside: 1. Security guards were assholes. I asked one security guard if it was packed inside and he just looked at me and laughed. 2. Packed to the max with a bunch of dudes. 3. They said no hats but of course if you’re friends of the promoters, you could wear whatever you want.

Been to Republiq several times, but I’m strictly rating the VENUE to give it a fair rating. I don’t think it’s fair to rate a club based on music/crowd etc. because if it’s a club as popular as republiq – they have different promoters that bring in their own staff and DJ each night and even their own type of crowd – so experience will definitely vary depending on which night you go. The VENUE Rating it four stars. *Love the lights, the space(most of the time i went there was always enough space to chill at/dance) and reminded me of clubs in Vegas(though not as hugely big or as extravagant). But they are rated #1 Club in sound & Lighting in Seattle *There are 2 stages/platforms the ladies can dance & get their groove on. 3 *3 active bars *VIP upstairs that overlooks the dance floor *Always was able to find FREE parking outside(behind) the club. *Drinks are average priced in my book & offers bottle service. *One star down for not maintaining a clean bathroom throughout the night every time i go there. The ladies stalls were a horrendous mess of tissue on the floor and one broken tissue holder on the flow. Nevertheless props for the cool sinks & faucets in the main hall. The CROWD=check out the photos of Friday & Saturday nights to see which night would«fit» you best. =) Friday nights – Hip Hop/Top 40 Go to to check out the gallery to see what type of crowd attends. Saturday nights – Hip hop/Top 40/Techno Go to to check out the gallery to see what Saturday nights is all about Hope this helps! *^_^* You can always get in free VIP using their website or the promoters site!

Originally my friends and I didn’t plan on coming here, but out of chance we were in the area, knew some other friends, and what the heck… let’s check it out. The location is a little sketchy, as we were driving around trying to find it. Pass the railroad tracks, industrial/factories…didn’t look good. From the outside of the place, looks brand new, modern, sophisticated dance club look, blue lights glowing from the inside. I have to admit that inside is not bad at all. When you first walk in, on the right is a bar-clustered and crowded as more people start to pile in. You can get stuck in the crowd, as there are steps leading down to the dance area. There is a upstairs-VIP booths, tables, and what not. It’s a great view for overlooking out on the dance floor. The bathrooms I think are great. Pretty clean, modern, but the sinks are not in the room. Instead, you have to walk out, as the sinks to wash your hands are in open space. therefore you can still socialize.haha. There is also a place to go outside if you wish to smoke, get air, etc. Con is that they don’t give you re-entry(at least when I went), avg-priced drinks. Got a sex on the beach for $ 10, not much liquid(full of ice) not strong-had better) Pros: great music, atmosphere, décor, lots of private booths, vip next to DJ. This is definitely a older crowd vibe, not typical college students hang out place. Although I didn’t mind it, and had a great time. Guys here though do like to be creepers and hit on you quite a bit… so watch out!

So I got to preview this place because I was shopping for event venues for a private party I was planning to host(I host a lot of socially conscious parties). I wrote this review to give you a sense of what the experience was like for me looking for a place to rent out. — — — — — — - This place is brand spanking new in Seattle and is beautiful as an event/party space — they are featured in DList magazine(check out the pictures in there) this month. Holds about 450 – 500 people comfortably. There’s an outdoor patio and an upstairs lounge that’s pretty cool. I haven’t had a chance to party formally here yet in a public party — but that will be my update to this review when that happens. Right now, until they are fully open and operational, it’s a place for underage kids to hang out(gotta make money somehow, right?) And the owners are generous and socially conscious to boot. Yes — I really like and appreciate the big hearted businesses that go the extra mile to help the community. This place is going to be one of them — I met one of the owners, Eric, and he’s got a real good heart. Keep an eye out for this place, Seattle. I got hopes.
