One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! I used to live across the street and would go weekly. The pulled pork sandwich is amazzzzing! 10⁄10 would recommend to anyone!

Found this little gem today and was not disappointed. The service was friendly and prompt… followed by a delish sandwich. It’s my new favorite deli on the hill.

Yummy!!! I went here for the first time today and I was amazed. I wanted to try a new place for lunch and sandwiches sounded good. Best food decision I’ve made in a long time. I ordered the bahn mi, the Cuban and the sesame kale salad. Their bread is perfect, the sandwich was delicious and even though there wasn’t much to the kale salad the portion was good and it had great flavor. The only reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars is because it seemed over priced for the two sandwiches and a salad. That’s not to say I won’t be back. It was damn tasty but not something I could afford all the time. Also the place is cute and cozy with indoor and a bit of outdoor seating. Plus the staff was great. I would recommend giving this place a try.

This place is absolutely adorable! I came in primarily because I was craving a sandwich and they open at 10am, whereas most other seeming contenders in the area open at 11am. I ordered the roast beef sandwich. The bread was perfect, the horseradish sauce wasn’t too horseradishy, and the portion was solid. I’d definitely eat here again!

SUPER yummy sandwiches! I found this place just by searching café’s in cap hill area. Had to come by and check out the place after i got out of class. ordered two sandwiches, the cuban sandwich and the salami melt. Both were amazing. Next time i go back to the place i wanna order the cuban again for sure. The salami melt was bomb but the cuban was definitely the winner! The reason why i give this place 4 stars and not 5 is simply because it was pretty expensive in my opinion for two sandwiches. The quality was on point and the menu had a great variety/the service was awesome. But as a broke college student, the prices seemed a little high for my taste! Partially the reason why i haven’t been back since my first experience. Definitely plan on grabbing a cuban sandwich soon, though! :) YUM

Super sweet spot for a bite or a communitea kombucha. I ordered two Sandwiches; one to eat there and one to go and I was stoked on both. Fair prices, awesome place to chill for lunch and good product. Will be back.

OMG! There’s something about their sandwiches that just keeps me returning for more! I order the gluten-free version, and it’s so delicious! So far I tried the Cuban, Swiss Mushroom, and Cheese Steak, and while they are all good, I would keep ordering the mushroom and cheese steak ones down the road because they just nail the art of the perfect deli sandwich — and I’m not even a sandwich fan! They have a local kombucha, which is packaged in a lovely bottle and it is delicious, but a little bit too fizzy for me. The ambiance is very casual and cozy, and it’s a little hard to find from the outside because it’s located in what appears to be a residential area, so it looks like a house. This place is just minutes of walk from the new LINK station, so it is very convenient to access and get to from downtown Seattle — that’s how I ended up finally exploring Capital Hill! I’m very glad I found this deli and I can’t wait to return and try other sandwiches.

Tried this place on a whim last week for lunch and it was amazing. I tried the mushroom melt with avocado, per the cashier’s suggestion, and the caesar salad. It was all great and tasted fresh. The interior is cute but seating is limited, so this place is not good for parties larger than 2 if you want to eat in. The people there were friendly and helpful.

Came here for the first time with my boyfriend for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it did not disappoint. The guy at the counter was super nice and recommended the veggie breakfast(was torn between that and the banh mi). My boyfriend got the Philly cheesesteak. Food came relatively quickly, but we managed to get in a quick game of Uno.(They have a whole stack of games to choose from!) The bread was delicious and perfectly toasted, but the garlic aioli definitely made the sandwich(not exactly the healthiest option…). Philly was yummy as well, my boyfriend really liked it, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the meat. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning. Perhaps my new favorite sandwich place in cap hill…

Cute interior with great music — definitely a place you don’t mind hanging out at for an afternoon. I ordered the Banh Mi and my boyfriend the Cuban and we were both extremely satisfied. Also shared a beet salad(amazing!!) and a chocolate brownie that was pretty tasty. Second time at this place and will definitely continue to come back. Stopped at Outer Planet Brewing afterwards which was also delicious and a lot of fun!

on the bus to capitol hill and saw scratch deli pop up in my search. we walked up to the house and stopped in for a soup and sandwich lunch. this place is quirky with some jazzy music playing in the background and all kinds of artwork on the walls. nice assortment of beers on draught, wine, cold and hot sandwiches, and soups. greeted by friendly staff and order taken promptly: grilled cheese and the day’s carrot leek soup. ooey gooey deliciousness with hot and creamy soup made for a tasty lunch. scratch deli is the kind of place I love finding by chance and not being disappointed. definitely returning and I recommend y’all try it as well!

This place is very quirky, sitting in an old house. However, they have amazing sandwiches! My favorite is the BLT, best BLT i’ve ever had. The bread is nice and crispy, the bacon is chopped up which infuses it into every inch of the sandwich, the lettuce and tomato are so fresh! My husband loves the Supremo sandwich which is similar to an italian sandwich. A great place for a casual bit to eat.

The sandwiches are better than delicious and never, ever fail to satisfy. I like the priority on quality ingredients and perfect construction. The salami sandwich is glutinous without being overwhelming. They cut the salami into pieces vs slicing it so that you can take a bite without disemboweling the entire sandwich when you eat it.

Excellent sandwich shop! I ordered the Caprese and the boyfriend had the Chicken Pesto… both were outstanding. I can’t wait to come back and try all of their different sandwiches. Prices were incredibly reasonable! Service was also very friendly and made me feel like I was at home. I also appreciated how their Pesto is without Parmesan and hazelnuts… it is a very allergen-friendly pesto, so brownie points for that!

I’ve been coming here for awhile now, at least since it was the People’s Republic of Koffee, so about five or six years I believe. I’ve been impressed by the owners dedication(obsession) with serving local food, and they always have some fun experiment they’re working on, or a batch of veggies from a new farm they’re trying out. The best way to order from Scratch is to just ask whats good that day, because they’ll always have something new and fun for you to try. The grilled cheese with bacon is always an awesome stand-by though. The staff are great, super friendly, and they always try to make everything fun. Shoutout to Erika, Laura, Dan, and Ian! Another shoutout to the big green chair, who is not technically an employee, but damn that shits comfy. Probably my favorite thing to do at Scratch is to drink and play boardgames. They almost always have Seattle Cider Co. on tap, at a reasonable price, and they have a HUGE selection of boardgames that were all donated by customers. They have about five taps(maybe four) which all generally rotate, except for the cider. So you can typically try a couple new beers every week or so, but they also have cans, which is great.

Couldnt decide what to eat for lunch and didnt want a huge meal or anything, so a sandwich sounded good. My friend said she knew a good spot and then we were off to find it. I wouldn’t have noticed this place as it is from a converted house now made into a sandwich joint. I decided to try their version of the«Cuban» sandwich, pretty tasty but not what you would call traditional. If I recall, it only had pork in it, no ham. Pork was tasty, pretty finely chopped, a lot of pickles, some melty cheese, some mustard and I think they added roasted red pepper served on a toasted buttery white bread. I totally killed it, so there you have it. Forgot what my friend ordered, but she did enjoy her sandwich. Cool that they serve beer as well as some delicious sodas. Inside doesnt have a whole lot of tables but there is a patio you can sit at too. Overall, no issues with this spot, the guy working the front was nice & friendly, didnt take long to get our food and the price may be a smidgeon higher for the size you get. Some art for sale and plenty of magnets you can buy as well. Neat little sandwich shop and plan on coming back.

I would have completely walked by Scratch Deli if I hadn’t been seeking it out. The small, converted single-family housing Scratch is set back off the street, at the top of a short set of stairs, with almost invisible signage. The food itself was a perfect combination of familiar and interesting. The tofu bánh mì didn’t come on the traditional baguette, but was packed with freshness and umami. And the«soup of the moment», a sunchoke and cauliflower affair made with cashew cream, wasn’t too heavy for the hot summer day I visited on. The final unexpected appreciation I had was for the various portion sizes offered with the sides. This meant the full meal price stayed reasonable, and that this guy will definitely be back.

Scratch deli is really cute! The patio gets great sun and is the perfect place to read a book and enjoy a cider in the spring and summer. They have a few beers on tap and some wine which is really nice for a sandwich shop, huge points! I love drinking with any meal so I’m a fan muaha. I’ve ate there, called in a pick up order, and ordered togo at the counter and its always been a pretty enjoyable interaction. The staff has always been really smiley, a total rarity in this city sometimes so it’s much appreciated! I feel like I found a little jem! The sandwiches are delishhhhhhhhh! I’ve tried the bahn mi, chicken bacon ranch, caprese, BBQ and chicken salad. All of them were quite tasty, so I’d say if you’re contemplating any of those or in the mood you’re going to pleased. The caprese is actually a standout for me. It’s really really refreshing! None of the sandwiches are messy to eat also and don’t make you feel like you’ve died after eating a whole one. It’s that perfect light lunch on a Saturday or Sunday!

Great little spot for lunch that we happened to stumble upon– we had awesome toasted sandwiches(mine, the pulled pork on gluten free bread), with a side soup and cider. Oh and a small bag of crisps– so basically the most perfect mid afternoon chill out meal! They also have a couple of other beers on tap for those who are interested! Whilst here, we sat in the back of the shop, got comfy on their rustic benches, mooched their free wifi and admired the quirky art for sale on the walls! The guy behind the counter was a sweetheart who ended up giving us an umbrella went we got caught in the rain on the way out! Thank you for paying it forward– next time we’ll be back with two umbrellas and a few more eaters!
