I saw the truck sitting outside Westlake and wanted a quick bite to eat before catching a bus. $ 9 for a good sized portion of the chicken over rice was well worth it and I only had to wait a few minutes. Drizzle some extra white and BBQ sauce and it’s a pretty savory meal! Pita bread was pretty standard and nothing special but friendly service is always a plus. All in all, would stop by again if in the area.

Been seeing their food truck around town a lot, so when I saw them at Westlake Park, a few coworkers and I decided to try it out. Pretty much 3 options: Chicken, Lamb or Combo of both. No line as we walked up around noon, I ordered the combo to try out both meats, it was served freakishly fast to me. They seem to have all the meats ready and they just plate it up when your order. Comes with seasoned basmati rice, some lettuce and toasted pita triangles, all drizzled with some of their signature white sauce. You can sauce it up more if you like, with more White Sauce, BBQ sauce, Frank’s Hot, Sriracha, and their Honey Heat which was my favorite. It was ok, chicken & lamb was ok, not too dry, rice was fine, pita was ok too to scoop up some bits and the lettuce… well its lettuce with their white sauce on top. A good sized portion for the price of $ 8, so it was a good lunch deal. Staff was fine, didn’t get to chat with them much as they handed my order to me very quickly. But overall, its a good lunch for the price and quick & fast.

Good portion. Got the combo. Chicken was actually more flavorful than the lamb. Go figure. Had to douse the lamb with more white sauce, a dash of hot sauce and another dash of BBQ sauce. Overall a good, cheap option for a quick lunch in the Seattle drizzle.

I work with a food truck called Neema’s Comfort and we serve alongside these guys on thursdays at Occidental Park. Their food is consistently A+ and their staff are some of the best people in the game– both service-wise and personality-wise. Get the chicken and get extra white sauce!

There aren’t many options when you come to Seattle Chicken Over Rice. You can choose chicken, ground lamb, or a combination of both. No matter what you choose — you can’t go wrong. Your protein is going to be set over some nicely seasoned rice and smothered in a garlic yogurt white sauce that ties everything together. The meat is a bit dry, so I tend to douse everything in additional white sauce, and then hot sauce(Frank’s RedHot) which offers enough heat without being overpowering. For those wanting even more heat, the last time I visited this food truck there was a new hot sauce option which was exponentially more spicy than Frank’s while still having good flavor(be sure to try some before you drench everything). Pricing is reasonable with a plate costing less than $ 10, quantity is decent, and quality is good and has been consistent across multiple visits. In addition, even when the line is long food comes out quickly and by the time you finish paying you’ll have food in hand.

It’s really hard not to compare to Halal Guys in NYC, so for those of you who are familiar with Halal Guys… — Food isn’t as good. Chicken isn’t as moist. Portions are definitely smaller here, which is a bummer considering its $ 9 for the chicken over rice. — The chicken over rice is $ 3 more expensive than Halal Guys which is ridiculous considering Halal Guys is in NYC… come on. — White sauce isnt as good. The hot sauce isn’t as hot. Even if I had never tried Halal Guys, I still wouldn’t give this food truck more than 3 stars. They need to lower their prices for me to go back.

I got the combo over rice today for lunch. Overall, it was pretty good, but the meat was a bit dry. It just can’t beat the New York trucks though!

I’m just going to get the inevitable comparison out of the way – obviously, it’s no Halal Guys. They don’t have the devilish hot sauce that Satan himself probably created, which was part of the fun(more like challenge… accepted!) for me when I was in New York. The prices are about $ 1 – 2 more, but the portion size was fine to me. With that being said, I’m just happy that I can even get this type of this in Seattle without a $ 500 plane ticket. It’s yummy, filling, and cheap, and usually across the street from my office. The line is incredibly long around noon so I typically check it around closer to 1PM.

Yes! I finally made it out to Seattle Chicken Over Rice! They were serving dinner on a Wednesday evening at Westlake park. I ordered the chicken over rice and piled on the white sauce and their new harissa hot sauce. The new hot sauce is so good with just the right amount of spice for me. My boyfriend thought it was *too* spicy but I loved it. I really enjoyed the unique flavors of the chicken and yellow rice in combination with the sauces. I can’t wait to go again!

I’ve been frequenting this food truck lately. Like most people, I love Halal Guys in NYC. I appreciate Seattle Chicken Over Rice(SCOR) for bringing it to Seattle. Granted, it’s not as good as the original, if you’re craving for it this will do. So why only 3 star? First of all, the portion is so small. One of the reasons that the Halal Guys are so popular is because they’re very generous with their portion. I wish SCOR’d put more food. I think by doing this it will benefit SCOR as people will be more satisfied and be more likely to recommend the truck. A litttle extra goes a long way. I’d give back one more star if I feel that the food is worth the money. Second is the hot sauce. I hope they’re working on a better sauce. It’s probably unrealistic to expect them to copy the Halal Guys, but for me the hot sauces that SCOR offer don’t go that well. Overall, I do hope you do well SCOR.

Of all the food trucks I’ve visited over the years, this is my least favorite. To me the food is bland and overly pre-prepared. I tried the Chicken Over Rice and they served it to me cold which indicates to me it was pre-prepared since I was the only customer there at the time. I found it very bland and dry even with the sauce they drizzled over it. Basically, it’s just some rice, a little lettuce some pieces of naan or pita bread and some not so tasty chicken. I definitely don’t need to go back for another round.

When I heard about this truck, I was so excited since I love Halal Guys in NYC. There were no lines so that was good but I was underwhelmed with my experience. The worst part is that ran out of forks so eating the salad was awkward. The white sauce was ok but the portion size was small for $ 8. Don’t mean to compare it completely with the Halal Guys but it’s obvious they took an idea and made it their own. I just remember sharing my plate with my hubby in NYC and still having left overs and the meal was $ 6. Unfortunately their plate didn’t have as much substance. As for the taste, the lamb and chicken were dry. This truck is definitely a hit or miss from other Unilocalers, just wish I lucked out when I visited.

The white sauce is definitely the best thing coming out of this truck. By no means is this as good as the NYC Halal Guys, but it’s the closest thing Seattle has. For under $ 10, you get a large portion of rice, meat, small side salad, and some pita triangles. I went with the chicken/lamb combo, so I could try both in one fell swoop. The lamb was definitely the better of the two, as the chicken was quite dry and tasteless. The white sauce was basically the only thing imparting any flavor. TL; DR Just drown it in white sauce.

Nope, it’s not an exact copy of the halal guys at NY. But it still tastes awesome! Love their chicken over rice! Amazing food for 9 $! Do try the white sauce. It’s really really tasty!

Quite the surprise! The name«Seattle chicken over rice» is kind of dumb because it doesn’t explain the type of food you’ll be eating. Even though, yes, it IS indeed chicken over rice, I didn’t expect the middle eastern flavor. Will be eating this again someday. Great flavor, actually I think the rice was the best part. Everything worked together perfectly. They put the white sauce on it and then it was a wrestling match in my head of Franks Hot Sauce or Sriracha? Franks didn’t make sense with these flavors so I chose Sriracha and I chose wisely. Only negative with the food was there wasn’t nearly enough chicken. Mostly rice. A few things they need to work on though. They told everyone there was a 15 min wait because they had to cook the food. Uhhh… shouldn’t you be cooking the whole time? It’s summer, you’re at Westlake on a weekday, come more prepared guys! You also ran out of lamb, before 12:30. Again, prepare more for next time. The wait was a bit ridiculous. Then again. the food was so worth it.

No, this isn’t quite like the NYC Halal Guys cart, but should we expect it to be? I think it’s good to remember that Seattle Chicken Over Rice is a food truck that’s been inspired by the Halal Guys, not necessarily trying to be an exact replica. As this is a newer truck, I can only see it getting better and better as the crew get more experience. :) Working downtown, I always get excited when I find good food for under $ 10. In terms of quality and quantity, this is a great choice for an inexpensive, yet filling lunch. For $ 8, you can get a generous serving of rice and seasoned chicken or lamb(or both!). I wasn’t completely blown away by the taste, but I can see myself coming back because it’s such a good deal! I’d also recommend going earlier rather than later to avoid long lines and the risk of the truck running out of food. Westlake Park is a high traffic area in general and gets packed with tourists and professionals. Lastly, don’t skimp on Frank’s RedHot sauce and the white sauce — YUM! :)

During a recent trip to Seattle, I had a sudden craving for chicken over rice. After asking some local friends, I ended up in Westlake because apparently there’s a bomb CNR cart here. There was a long wait, probably 20 minutes. Decided to wait and definitely didn’t regret a single minute. Man did it hit the spot. I thought I couldn’t get that taste I was craving in Seattle but these guys know how to make halal food. I dunno if they’re better than the OG halal guys in NYC but it’s definitely a contender. It’s like comparing apples and oranges — can’t really say one is better than the other, but they’re different for sure. However, in terms of sanitation and overall service, these guys do it much better than the OGs on 53rd and 6th. It’s clean, fast, they’re friendly. I give them 4.5/5,because sometimes you just can’t beat the original halal guys. But this will definitely be a must-go next time im in SEattle.

I’m a New Yorker and I went to Seattle for a visit. I was really curious about how the ‘new york style’ chicken over rice would taste like, and ITWASAMAZING! It tasted even better than The Halal Guys, and I love the multiple sauce options. I shared it with my friend, it was of great value with a great taste. Definitely worthy to pay another trip here!

I received a hot tip about this new food truck and went to visit right away. I took an early lunch and ventured to Occidental Park. I got there early so there wasn’t much of a line which is always a win! New York style chicken over rice… I had no idea what it was. The menu was very simple: chicken over rice, lamb over rice, or a combo of chicken and lamb over rice. You get a bed of rice, topped with seasoned chicken or lamb and a bit of this mysterious yogurt based white sauce. It comes out warm and you can sauce it up. The guy working the window recommended barbecue sauce for the chicken. I was skeptical at first so I tried it plain. Then I tried it with barbecue sauce — he was right, it tasted better! Overall, the dish has potential. That day I had the chicken and lamb. The spices got my attention. Everything could use a bit of salt and a bit of heat(they have the heat available for you to add yourself). The rice was under cooked and unpleasantly crunchy that day. The portion was very satisfying. I ate my fill and still had half a serving left. I’ll definitely go back since what I tasted was something a bit different. I think if the salt and rice had been on point it would have been awesome.
