Seattle Select Moving

If I had written this review the day after moving, it would have had a higher rating. At the time of the move, everything seemed to be going well. They showed up on time, were courteous and professional and loaded all our items in the truck. We asked them to disassemble and reassemble my son’s bed, which they seemed to have some trouble with. I admit, it is a complicated designed captain’s bed with shelving and drawers. But I did specifically ask when I booked the moving service, if they were able to take apart and put back together furniture and I was told yes. They unloaded everything at the new house and spent quite a bit of time in my son’s room to reassemble the bed. I tipped them $ 120 when they left (on top of the $ 900 bill).
My son was out of town so it was 2 – 3 days later before I went into his room to make up the bed. It was not put back together correctly and some of the bolts and hardware were completely missing. The bed was dangerously unstable and could have seriously injured him! The part that really upset me is that they never came to me to say ‘hey we cant make this work.” They just pretended that it was done correctly and left! To me that screams a serious lack of character. Upon further unpacking my sons room, I also found that they had snapped one of the side supports of his desk. Again — no word to us. They just left it there leaned against the wall, like nothing was wrong. I would not hire this moving company again.

This is an update after the initial review on quoting phase. The movers showed up on time and with a huge truck (24 ft), which was more than sufficient. They also assured to notify me along the way prior to their arrival. Curtis, who was the lead that day kept me informed of their ETA. They arrived at 1:30pm and made quick work of moving my two bedrooms contents to the two downstairs bedrooms. On top of a 200+ lbs massage chair. No scratches or dings were left on the walls.
They also were nice enough to lay down moving blankets, but also took off their shoes while in the house. Most movers are not that considerate and would keep their work shoes on and track dirt everywhere. We just went through an extensive remodel.
In addition, the second mover — John assisted me in doing a make shift install of my daughters mirror on her dresser. I lost the struts and bolts that attached the mirror to the base. So I grabbed some wood screws and baseboards and — poof it was reattached. My wife was thrilled. Happy wife — happy life. He didn’t complain at all with the unforeseen work.
We were done with everything in 60 minutes. I had some extra furniture going to consignment, a large sectional (3 piece), lounge chair, and 2 large dressers. We arrived at the consignment place and began to unload. The owner and staff were unclear that the furniture must be in perfect shape, we sent very high resolution pics but they changed their mind. So we had to load a couple of things back to donate. Whoever is going to Goodwill will get a gently used micro fiber 3000 $ sectional for bottom price. The movers didn’t complain and offered me a reasonable solution, they would donate it Goodwill or Value Village next to their business. And just added 20 min for the unload. As they could see my wife was upset with the incompetent workers ( Unilocal review forthcoming to those a-​holes). It actually took longer at the consignment place due to their back and forth decisions on the various furniture pieces. All told it came to 440 (+tip and trip fees minus discounts — see my Unilocal tip) for 4 hours of work. In this area, that’s a bargain for two movers + truck.
I now see why they are the only movers in King County with 5 stars (and with more than 50+ reviews).
I’ve moved a lot and these guys are nice, honest, courteous, and professional.
If I have to move, these are the only folks I’m going to call. Look no further — regardless of job size. You will be glad you selected them. Guaranteed.

This review is so overdue, I should have written this months ago. I have moved *many* times in my life, have lived on both coasts, 5 states, 2 countries, many neighborhoods. These guys were professional, on time, quick, pleasant guys who actually gave a hoot about my furniture and my house. HIGHLY recommend.
After my last Seattle move, with another 5 star company, we were unsure about what to expect. Our last move had 3 tornadoes come through our house, that wanted so badly to impress us with their speed, that they ruined everything in their paths. Seattle Select Moving was swift, but they also took care with everything, not a single item was damaged. These guys came recommended to me from a girlfriend who moved in Mercer Island. They moved me from Mt Baker in Seattle to Ballard with no problem.
We’re about to move again here come Spring time, these guys will be who we call.

Recently used Seattle Select Movers for my 1 bedroom move about 2 miles away. Besides being 2.5 hours late, the actual movers were wonderful. I originally received a call that they would be an hour late, then a text after they should have arrived, saying they’d be even later.
Once they arrived, they didn’t waste any time. I was paying by the hour, and it was obvious they were doing their best to get the job done quickly and carefully. It probably could have been done in under 2 hrs but the elevator slowed everything way down, no fault by the movers whatsoever. What I didn’t realize was that I was also paying for drive time to AND from my place, as in, from their last project (30mins), and back to the company site when finished (15mins); this added on an extra 45 mins to my bill that I was not expecting. The total job took 3 hours+45 mins drive time=$ 460.00 before Unilocal deal (I did purchase the Unilocal deal, $ 85 for $ 100, which they honored on the spot no problem). The initial scheduling process was a little frustrating. Scheduled through Mike, I believe the owner. He confirmed over the first call he thought they’d have an opening for me (which I was very thankful for, having been only 4 days out from move day). I then filled out the online form/​application, but never heard back with an actual confirmation, which was very nerve racking. After multiple calls and voicemails to the company, I finally got ahold of them the day before, and thankfully they had scheduled me, just never confirmed. Not the most professional, but nonetheless I am just thankful it all worked out.

If you’re moving into town or just across town, this is your moving company. These guys are truly awesome, hard working, great ‘can-​do’ attitudes and very professional. They were on time and everything went smoothly. Honestly, if you’re well prepared and have everything packed and ready to go it makes everything easier. We had some very heavy solid wood furniture that had to go up a small staircase and they never once complained or said anything negative. They even hoisted one large piece over the rail to get it upstairs.
Mike was very professional also as I set up the appointment and also when I called to confirm our appointment.

Packing crew, service and rates were great. Only caveat is that I had to get my own boxes but it was worth it to get their rates and saved some money by buying my own boxes, tape, packing paper, etc. They did provide wardrobe boxes, moving blankets and dollies which was very helpful.
Moving crew was great as well and helped packing up all the stuff that we needed overnight (toiletries, linens, etc.). We made two trips due to all the stuff that we had and given that we were only moving a couple of blocks away. I had just had my carpets cleaned in my new house and they were very accomodating to take their shoes off and have an alternating inside and outside crew.
They helped make moving a much more enjoyable experience and I would definitely use then again and recommend them.

Super cool dudes helped me move out of u district to mercer island so quick! Started promptly at 8, made a drop at another location and still finished within 3 hours. Highly recommend!!! The coupon on Unilocal and the social media discounts are very helpful and fun to do. Thank you so much!

The movers are courteous and careful with our stuff. Other than a minor hiccup of not finding a hidden public storage, everything went smoothly. They also moved an armoire with two people that I had struggled with four while moving in. Very impressed.

Two guys and one truck moved our 1200 sq ft apt into our 1800 sq ft house in just under 5.5 hours. John was an experienced mover, who knew exactly the right angles needed to maneuver our tight corridors and stairwells. He was also conscientious about noticing any damage and checking to make sure it was like that before (it was). Between the Unilocal coupon and social media deal, it was totally worth it! This was our first move using movers. Hopefully we won’t have to move anytime soon, but I’d recommend them to others. Thanks SSM!

Efficient, professional and friendly movers! They were running a little behind, but called to give us a heads up, which we appreciated. They were very careful with our belongings.

These guys made my move so easy. They were incredibly friendly, efficient and careful with all of my items. I moved from a first floor apartment to a third floor apartment and they maneuvered up the narrow staircases with no problems. They moved my entire 1 bedroom apartment in under 2 hours. Their prices seem very fair considering how quick they are (I scheduled 2 workers and a truck for $ 100 an hour). I will absolutely use them in the future.

The crew who moved us were awesome! We had a 3 person team b/​c we have a really heavy bed frame, but two of them were able to carry it, which was shocking. They were super quick, hard working, handled everything carefully (no broken pieces so far!) and stayed on-​task. We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the second floor and the three of them were able to clear it in less than an hour and unpack within 30ish min. Overall, including travel from Lynnwood to Central Seattle, the job took just over 2 hours.
We had quite a few issues with scheduling, wrong info and not hearing back, but they were addressed by the owner, Mike, immediately after I posted them here. While the experience was initially frustrating (except for the actual move), I really appreciated that Mike took complete responsibility and resolved my issue (very quickly, I might add). I know that sometimes things don’t go the way they are supposed to, but I think you can tell a lot about a company based on how they resolve their mistakes and based on my experience, this is a really good company that cares about their customers as well as making sure that their customers have good experiences. I would recommend them!

Dealing with the company has been a disaster, thus the 2 stars. I submitted an online request and received a call within a couple hours from Jake. He told me that there is a 4 hour min. on the weekends, so I changed the date to a weekday because I knew we wouldn’t need that much time. I also inquired about the different charges and minimums and was told that there is a two hour min. on weekdays. In addition, I was told that if I got the truck with the movers, rather than just labor, time paid included the trip back from our ending location to their, but that if I got just labor the time ended as soon as they left our house. I was also told I would be sent a quote, but only received an $ 11 bill for booking. I called to inquire and was told that I would get a quote once I paid the bill, so I did, but never received a quote. I called twice to ask, to no avail.
Then they showed up a day and a half early, on the initial date I had requested, not on the one I had booked (8a on a Sunday). I let them know that it was scheduled for the next day and they left and when I called to leave a vm to inquire on the main line, I never got a call back. I called later and spoke to Jake, who I had been speaking to, and rather than apologizing, he asked if they had moved everything– I told him no (who is ready a day and a half early?!) and asked if it was actually confirmed for the next day and for a quote (again! It is even mentioned as being a legal requirement on their site) and he said he would send it right away. I never got it.
I called 3 times the day of the move and left a vm, but never got a call back. I finally had to text the mover who had called me the previous day to ask if they knew and he let me know that they were in fact coming. They called me 20 min before the move scheduled time and said they would be 30 min late. Then they called again a bit later and said they would be 30 min later– so they showed up an hour late. At the end of the job, they went to settle the bill and I was charged for 3 hours. Forgetting that they had shown up an hour late, I paid it in cash, but shortly after they left, I remembered so I called the lead and asked and he said that they charged for the time to get home and I told him that I was told that that time wouldn’t be charged– he said he would talk to his manager and get back to me, but still hasn’t.
I am frustrated b/​c they had such great reviews, and while the movers themselves were great, the company has been awful to deal with and I think we have over-​paid– it appears that my concerns won’t be addressed. Good movers, but the company doesn’t appear to actually have the professionalism and integrity that they boast on their website.

I had a great experience with my move. It involved 2 stops before heading to a storage unit, which came together pretty well. Jon and Curtis worked quickly and efficiently — and were a pleasure to deal with. I’ll second the other reviews which mention that these guys work hard without breaks — which now I realize I should have told them to do. Tacky on my part. But they kept plugging away, for which I am grateful. Seattle Select Moving is definitely who I’ll call when I move my things out of storage. Moving is pretty much the worst — it’s good to know I’ve finally found some solid people for the future.

Fast movers and very friendly. Some administrative issues as they scheduled us for an 8 AM time slot, and then they missed it. I called them and got a fairly quick call back asking if we could reschedule to 10. Not a huge deal but I wouldn’t have woken up so early.

Called Seattle Select Movers again as we were moving into a new home. Showed up on time, again very professional explaining exactly what to expect and gave an estimated time based on the contents of the home. Fast and friendly and the two worked very hard and were extremely careful. Not one item damaged in the move. They even assisted in moving a very heavy item from the previous move that we thought would fit in a spare room. Bottom line, if the mover says it will not fit, listen to him.
Don’t plan to move for a long time but if I do it will be Seattle select.

Snagged the Unilocal deal, took a chance on hiring a moving company and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! These guys are fast, friendly, and really good at what they do! What would have taken my friends and I much of the weekend, they got done in a little over 3 hours! Everything made it safely from one apartment to the other. If you’re looking for a good group of guys to help you move, you can’t go wrong here. Plus, if you’re moving locally why not support a local company?!

It decided to rain on our moving day but Seattle Select pushed through like champs. We were late to meet them but they were so nice and didn’t charge us any extra time they waited for us. They were so upbeat the whole time which definitely made things less chaotic and stressful. Hopefully we won’t have to do this again for a long time but I’d/when we do we will definitely give Seattle Select a call again!

Guys from Seattle Select moved me to a new house today. Lots of stairs and weird space, they did a great job. Little longet than I anticipated but lots of stuff and difficult terrain. They are pros.
