I enjoy the soup here. My favorites are the minestrone and the lentil soups, but I look forward to trying more of them. Staff is friendly too. The cornbread is a little disappointing, so I suggest passing on the bread.

Tanya was SO nice, I was waiting for a friend and she let me try EVERY soup in the meantime! I was basically doing shots of soup! One of her regulars came in too, she knew his order(coconut chicken curry) so that’s what I got. My friend is veggie and there were a ton of options for her too, she landed on the tomato gorgonzola(also smashing). I liked that Tanya honest about the cheddar cauliflower being made with chicken stock. Good on you, Tanya! We got soup in a big ol’ bread bowl(stock up on napkins) plus a drink for $ 9. Both of us nabbed a punch card and we want to make it a weekly thing.

My friend recommended I try this place during my visit to Seattle. The place was very clean with lots selection of soups. I tried their Jambalaya soup and it was awesome. Bread was done perfectly and complements the soup well. I will definitely will return when I’m in town again and try some other selections…

Soup was OK(I had the fiesta chicken), but it was not pleasant to bite into a bit of bone + cartilage that had not been removed from the chicken chunks. Cornbread was bland and flavorless. Service was good. Nearly $ 8 for 12 oz. of just«meh» soup and bad cornbread? Not worth it.

Today I’m annoyed. I’ve been here before, so I knew that the price of a cup of soup is kind of ridiculous… but it is pretty good soup, so whatever. However today when I went around 1:30pm many of the soups were sold out… and my $ 6.308 oz cup of curry chicken soup had literally one piece of chicken in it. Thanks for the protein, I guess. They were also out of all bread… I guess the moral of the story is go earlier than 1:30pm. #hangry

The double-umami blast of Sound Soup’s Tomato Gorgonzola soup is divine, and it has little bits of tomato in it(instead of being blended smooth). It’s one of my favorite soups, and I try to stop in for lunch at least once a week. The Coconut Chicken Curry soup has great flavor, too. Today’s stomach happiness came in the form of Beef Stroganoff with tender morsels of beef and mushrooms. There’s free bread with every order; once when it was late in the day and the bread had run out, I was offered a doughnut :) There’s also a punch card available: buy 10 soups and get the 11th free. It’s a pretty small shop with 2 tiny tables, so most people get their food to-go. But if the weather’s nice, there’s plenty of seating in the courtyard just outside.

Once you try this classic chicken noodle soup you’ll never try another. It culminates in a rich-tasting soup with melt-in-your-mouth chicken

I just had a craving for chili and went to Sound Soups and order the beef«chili», it was horrible! That was not chili, blah! Go to Mel’s across from Wells Fargo on 3rd Avenue, they have great chili!

Working in downtown Seattle this is a very convenient spot to grab a darn good bowl of soup, nothing too fancy, just good soup. The lobster bisque is fantastic when they have it. They Ali have Ivar’s clam chowder on the menu.

I love the Lemon Chicken Quinoa Soup! Their Beef and Barley Vegetable Soup is delicious and when I’m feeling slightly out of it I can always count on good ol’ fashioned Chicken Noodle Soup. Really can’t say any more! Try it you’ll love it or you’ll hate it, but personally I love it!

Apparently, this place changed ownership. I miss the prior owner/worker. She was so friendly and kept a full stock of warm soups available until closing. Now, they are out of most soups by the time they close. So, if I get there in the afternoon, they have limited selection. Don’t even bother on a Friday afternoon. They also now frequently run out of bread rolls; that rarely happened when the asian lady ran this place. Finally, they used to honor their punch card for your usual purchase, even if it was a 16 oz item. The new owners changed that policy; now, the punch cards are only for the smaller size. This used to be my «go-to» lunch place, but now I will be finding another.

I guess they switched ownership or something. Had nothing but the best service from Myra. I think expecting a business to open on time isn’t a lot to ask for. Sure everyone runs late at times. My boyfriend and I both took a break from work and got here 5 minutes before they were opened. The lady(new owner?) said they weren’t actually opened yet so we stood outside for a few minutes and then walked to a nearby store and then came back at 9:31 — sign on the door says they open at 9:30. The lady wasn’t apologetic at all and made it seem like it was our fault or wanting to give her business by saying nothing was ready yet and that’s why the open sign wasn’t on. Hey if you’re not going to be opened on time maybe don’t post a schedule on the door at all. And she said it won’t be ready for maybe 10 min but asked if we could come back in 20 min. This is downtown Seattle. It’s fast paced and customers do not have time to leave work and walk around waiting for a business to open. Also, why didn’t she tell us not to come back for 20 minutes the first time she spoke with us? We were standing right outside! Obviously waiting for it to open. Due to this completely horrible experience, we will never be back and I’m sure she won’t care because she didn’t struck me as the type that cared about her customers anyway. Went across the street to Mel’s and although the their soup wasn’t ready yet either the server went out of his way to assist us. That’s what you call customer service.

There’s a ton of different restos for lunch around Sound Soups, but on a slightly chilly yet sunny day, soup sounded like a really good idea. The store is pretty small, but they have a LOT of different soup options, it was actually kind of difficult to decide. Luckily when I went I was only one of two people in there so I was able to get a taste of the Southwest Chicken Chili before I bought it(it was delicious and not too spicy for me). I got an 8 oz. container of the chili along with a baked potato with 3 toppings and spent $ 8.41 including tax. I think this is a reasonable price for a hearty and solid lunch. I’ll be visiting again soon!

Want to catch the flu? Do you have enough sick leave? If so, come to this restaurant! I decided to grab soup for lunch today. I shimmied over to the cash register area after placing my food order. The female employee(Asian) asked me which bread I wanted. After she grabbed the bread, she coughed on it, then put it in my to-go bag. Rude and gross. There has been other times where her attitude changes depending on the customer. I’ve analyzed her customer service skill on several visits. She favors the suit and tie customers and looks down upon the customers who wear typical Seattle attire. I’m definitely not returning.

If you’re in a hurry and doing a small-ish lunch hour, this is the perfect place to get some nice, smooth and/or hearty and/or brothy soup that’s pretty gosh darn tasty. I’ve had the coconut chicken, the beef chili/stew thing, a kale thing and a few others, as well; usually large size, too. With the bread side, you can choose cornbread, pretzel, roll and I think another. I always usually get the pretzel bread because it’s my favorite, it’s dense and easy to dip in your soup. The staff is nice. Don’t forget some crackers if you want and hold the utensils if you keep your own back at your office like I do. Saves waste! :)

Sound Soups looks nice but it isn’t. The people who work there are rude. One of them actually rolled her eyes snidely when I asked a question about the menu. Their charges are misleading in that they don’t always charge according to their signage and they can’t provide an itemized receipt showing how they charged you for each item. Also, on one of my visits, they needed to void and re-ring my purchase. Later, on my bank account transactions, I noticed they had not refunded me the money at all but had double charged me. Given the history of the service I have received here, I sincerely doubt that the pushy lady who rang me up would refund me the money if I went back in and mentioned it. I have more faith that she would argue with me and that’s just not something I need on my lunch hour. Lastly, the product is poor. Some varieties of the soups are ‘watered down’ in the sense that they contain too much broth and too little of the solid ingredients. All this and they are overpriced too!

I can’t get over how over-priced this place is. I purchased a(smallish) sourdough bread bowl yesterday for lunch with the chicken noodle soup, and it was $ 9. That might seem reasonable to some, but with so many other food options in the area, it’s difficult to keep me coming back time and again if your prices are out-of-whack. I believe the cheapest option is the 8oz soup for approximately $ 5, $ 7 for 12 oz soup. Granted you do get a roll with the non-bread bowl soups, but those aren’t yummy enough for me to forgive them for the price. Their soups are just ok. I’ve tried several, including the chicken and curry, chicken and wild rice, and regular chicken noodle. They hit the spot if it’s a chilly day and I need some warming up, but I can’t help but feel like I’m being mega ripped off each time I eat there. I can get a much yummier and larger soup from Metropolitan Market, so in knowing that, I don’t plan on making this my regular lunch spot anytime soon.

I got the Chicken Coconut curry soup with a pretzel roll. I certainly didn’t think it was a $ 9 value. The soup was fairly hearty, but certainly nothing to write home about. The roll was served to me cold and was tough as leather. The cashiers were pretty nice, but I think I’ll be taking my soup consumption elsewhere next time.

It’s ok, decent but not great. I went here for lunch and got their hearty beef stew. It was ok, not great but not the worst I’ve had. Honestly it tasted like they just opened a can of Campbells and served it too me. I got it with a sour dough roll that was decent but again tasted like it was just store bought, it wasn’t warm either. The price is very reasonable, if you’re looking for a cheap lunch that’s quick and not horrible Sound Soups isn’t a bad option.

2 stars for food. 1 for service. Don’t rush me when I’m the only one in store. When you ask me 2 secs after walking in and I say it’ll be a minute, wait at LEAST a minute before hounding me again. Cashier was so softspoken I had to ask what twice then she got an attitude. Wont be returning. Soups about average. all the health probably boiled out. Then served with shitty attitude… I can make better. Disappointed. Really needs to work on their service issues. Give memory than. LITERALLY two seconds to decide. O
