Pure gold don’t change a thing! Definitely a great atmosphere! Jeremy is the best bartender around he gets 5! Great photo booth! I loved going there to watch the Seahawks games also upstairs. They have trivia and play great music. It feels woody and I like wood!

I’ve always identified as more of a mallard than a woman so you can imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this gem!

Another«why haven’t I been here»?? I really appreciated the low-key atmosphere and cute décor(of… drakes and mallards, of course). Extended happy hour, yay! Great deals on happy hour sandwiches… yay, though they aren’t the most exciting sandwiches. Decent tap and booze selection. My negatives? It’s harder to be thrilled about the happy hour price when you’re clearly overcharged. My tab came to $ 29, all I had was 1 happy hour draft, 1 $ 8 sandwich & draft combo, and 1 $ 7 drink. I didn’t get an itemize copy(pet peeve) either, but the bartender had changed during the shift so I didn’t pursue the issue. There’s no table service if that’s important to you.

This bar is full of culture and charm. The duck theme is seen throughout and gives it a cabin feel while keeping the atmosphere light. All of the bartenders are helpful and fit right into the Capitol Hill style. If you have never had a pickleback, this is the place to do it. They even make the pickle juice themselves! Just as good are the Bloody Marys. So delicious. Sometimes they use a little wasabi in their mix if I remember correctly. They also host weekend markets and have karaōke frequently. So go check it out! You won’t be disappointed.

Very nice staff… I like beer and whiskey and they have beer and whiskey deals. Don’t tell your friends.

Great neighborhood bar with AC(hot summer) and a loft w/sunroof. Their main menu features beers + shots but don’t ignore the cocktail special.

It’s small and divey and wonderful. This is the perfect neighborhood pub to meet a friend and have a conversation. I also like the little sitting nooks which really add to the charm. Most of the regulars here are tools(including me). Monday — Trivia Wednesday — Karaōke

I pretty much love this bar. Great location and friendly atmosphere. Like being in your own Living Room.

Simple feel, friendly staff who pour good drinks. One of those little bars where people talk to each other. Feels like a neighborhood hideaway.

This is hands down my favorite bar in Seattle. It hits all the marks — relaxed vibe, great bartenders, drink deals(i.e. a beer and a shot combo), and perfect location in lower Capitol Hill. It feels like your own living room — but so much better. Good for casual happy hour /after work drinks, or even late night stop. I held a private event here in May, and it was amazing! The owner was so helpful. It’s one of those places you almost don’t want people to find out about because it’s «your place,» but you can’t help but rave about.

A cool little laid-back bar, just one of many in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. The interior has an industrial lodge-kind of feel, featuring lots of reclaimed-looking wood along with hunting tchotchkes. It has a large bar with some cozy corner seating areas downstairs and some tables upstairs. We sat in a nook next to the front window where we could see the night crowd go by while we sipped our beers. Pretty good selection of craft beers as well as interesting cocktails, delivered by the friendly bartender. He and the other patrons of this bar were very cool, and we enjoyed a nice leisurely beer here before moving on to the next place.

Meh, this place seems like its built around the hipster penchant for overpriced cheap beer and booze in shot glasses. What’s not to love about paying too much to sip 40s of Olde English? Service is nothing to write home about. I did taste someones Manhattan and it was made right(i.e. with Rye) and was well priced for the quality of whisky they used.

Cool bar with a chill vibe. Picklebacks were on point. Complimentary cheetos? Yes please. It was like drinking at home without being lame and drinking at home.

An OK place to grab a quick beer and cheap whiskey shot for $ 5. If you couldn’t tell by the name, it’s a duck themed hole-in-the-wall place with two floors. When I went, they ran out of their well whiskey so we got a shot of Jim Beam instead. That was a pleasant surprise. I would imagine this place doesn’t get too busy, but I could be wrong.

Seattle has one of the best cocktail scenes in the country. As such any new bar or gastro pub has a pretty high bar – no pun intended. Speckled & Drake is in the same space as the now defunct living room. Speckled & Drake improved on the Living Room by moving the bar parallel to the longer wall. This extends the bar seating – a welcomed change. That being said, I think Speckled & Drake could improve their cocktail list. For example, the owners of the Living Room crafted their own bitters and could make cocktail suggestions based on what your tastes were. At the end of the day, I think Speckled & Drake is going to have to step it up to compete with other bars on the Hill.

Let’s talk about carcasses on walls for a minute. Do dead animals and alcoholic beverages go together like Sonny and Cher? Do the bar-going patrons of Cap Hill secretly wish to be 19th century big game hunters? I’m not sure what it is about bars and taxidermy, but it’s definitely a thing. And Speckled & Drake definitely lives up to its name, complete with vintage-ish dead duck décor. Speckled & Drake consists of a small lower level bar with seating for approximately 10, and an upper level with benches and tables for around 24 more. The menu is short on food(sausages for all!), and long on beer/shot combinations and classic cocktails. Everything smells like fresh wood, and much of the furniture looks to have been reclaimed/repurposed. The tables and stools upstairs are awkward heights, but have enough drinks and no one seems to mind. The service is friendly, the drinks are cold, and the music is good. I’ll be coming back.
