Studio Kids

My 6-​year-​old son is in his second term with Ameen and loving it. The backyard studio is spacious, welcoming, and more personal than any other art class — any other class — we’ve experienced. Ameen has a way of keeping even the most distractible students engaged, and her patience is nearly infinite. Poofy the chicken is a huge draw for the kids, especially in the spring when they got to sketch her outside in her grassy habitat.
My son’s schoolteacher is convinced his classes with Ameen have given him more confidence in his handwriting ability, a result we never expected from an art class. As long as he’s interested in being creative with a pen, pencil, charcoal or brush, we’ll be taking him to Studio Kids.

My son and daughter, then 9 and 7 years old, took a sketching/​drawing class and a painting class at Studio Kids 2 years ago. The classes were small, allowing for a lot of teacher/​student interaction, and the setting is great. Ameen does a good job of demonstrating technique while also encouraging creativity. Both my kids loved painting on wood and canvas and their work still hangs in our kitchen today! I recommend Studio Kids whenever friends are looking for quality art classes.

Ameen is a truly gifted teacher and artist in her own right. She has a vision for where she wants her students to go and gently coaches them along the way. She provides the structure required for younger students, but also allows for individual creativity to shine through. Before now, art was carefully taped to our refrigerator and windows. After these classes, our youngest child’s art work is framed and hung on our walls. Our oldest child, who has been reluctant until now has been watching his younger brother progress and is ready for classes of his own. The studio is beautiful with excellent lighting and looks out on Ameen’s lovely garden. We will be continuing our classes with great anticipation for what is to come.

My seven year old son attended a week long summer camp at Studio Kids. He was a little nervous and even said that he couldn’t draw. I told Ameen his worries before camp started and she was able to build his confidence from the first activity she had the kids do. This was by far my son’s favorite camp he had all summer and we will be signing him back up for other camps and sessions. His artwork now is all over our house!
