We had the fish special, which was probably the best cooked salmon I have ever had, and some other stuff. Everything was really good!

Terribly rude service. For a restaurant that claims to be aiming for an amazing service, we certainly were not treated with the level of politeness and hospitality that we had hoped for. Apparently the restaurant doesn’t seat if the party is incomplete, even though we made the reservation, showed up early, and the place was empty. I understand the policy, although there is no mention of it on their website and majority of the party was there with one person running a little late, yet the hostess’ attitude made us feel unwelcome and we didn’t want to stay at a place that already started to feel rancid.

Although the food was good, we felt mistreated. I had made a reservation 3 weeks earlier for a table for six at 6:00 p.m. While three guests were 15 minutes late, the hostess made the other three scrunch in the inadequate entry although the table was right there. When the other three guests arrived, we were told that we could only have the table until 8:00. There had been no warning about that double-seating when I reserved. The hostess told us that if we didn’t like that deadline, «we were free to go elsewhere.» Thanks a lot! We then waited 20 minutes for our drinks. At the dot of 8:00 the waiter slapped the bill on the table. No dessert or coffee for us! We were finally«allowed» to sit in a row at the outdoor sidewalk seating and have some dessert. Luckily it wasn’t raining, but it was cold. Shabby treatment by an expensive restaurant! I will never darken its door again.

Outstanding everything! The Service, section of cocktails, and the food was superb. I will come back for sure. The salad was enough for the 5 stars, and then the shrimp and grits showed up. Much love to the chef and his crew.

Service was great. Food was good. Ambiance was a little strange for a breakfast place. I’d suggest dinner instead.

It feels a bit unfair to leave a rating like this for a restaurant with such good things going on, but we went for food and the ratings are based on that. We selected this place for Restaurant Week. For $ 80, we received a small plate of asparagus, small cup of soup, a small plate of fish and a small plate of quail. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all beautifully plated it’s just incredibly small portions. I’m not comparing it to an «All American have it your way» portion, either. It’s literally kids meal sized portions that are very expensive. Some of the seasoning blends were great, but my quail was dry and burnt. There wasn’t one item I wanted to have a second time due to the portion size and taste. On the up side, this restaurant had such good ambiance, spacing and lighting, my boyfriend actually complimented how I looked in the light(that’s never happened before). I love how the waiters wear regular clothes. One was wearing basketball shorts and sneakers. I found it entertaining(the idea of being at a fancy restaurant with servers dressed like that), and oddly comforting.

Stumbling Ambience: 4 Food: 3 Drinks: 4 Value: 3 We used the Seattle Restaurant week to try the Stumbling Goat Café. They have happy hour from open til 6:30. We had a couple of drinks as we waited for their dinner service to start. The drinks were good, but pretty pricey. We had one 3 for $ 30 and also asked for best choices on the regular menu. We tried many things: bone marrow, cod salad, soup, octopus salad, braised lamb… all in all… not great. I thought the food to be bland and uninspiring. Though well plated and interesting looking, the flavor profiles were lackluster. It didn’t taste nearly as good as it looked. The portions were small and the price was hefty. Not a good combo. I’m glad I tried this place, but probably won’t be returning.

Nothing to scream about. The price of the food matches the taste/quality of the food and is A-OK. We had the duck confit hash and lox benedict.

Brunch is pretty good here. I really enjoyed the duck confit hash. I don’t recommend getting the J’mon on the Mushroom and Gruyère omelette — it was a bit much and over-dominated the subtle flavor of the rest of the dish.

Had the pork chop and it was amazing! It was almost 3 inches thick but cooked perfectly. Unless you can eat about 16oz of meat, this entrée should probably be shared. Definitely a quality cut of meat. We also ordered the pork belly as an appetizer(we are fans of the pig). That was a mix of sour/sweet/salty items which was a unique way to serve pork belly. But the superstar was the chop. We’ll be back again to try other things

Stumbling Goat is our favorite neighborhood place. The food is consistently delicious. Everything is prepared to order. Despite not being able to eat dairy, I always have plenty of options and leave satisfied. Last night the service was fantastic. We had lamb crudo and salad to start. The salad greens were perfectly dressed. I didn’t try the crudo but am told it was delicious. We had short ribs and hanger steak as mains. The short rib dish was rich and buttery. It was served with a plethora of veggies and a silky smooth potato mash. I am told it was perfect. The hanger steak was smokey. The sides were really good: crispy potatoes, brussels sprouts and roasted tomatoes worked perfectly together. The steak was served medium rare. I usually prefer my steak medium well but this was just right for the cut. Drinks were knockouts. Everything is homemade, so have a drink or two. If you can have dairy, try the salted caramel bomb. If you prefer ice cream or sorbet, you won’t be disappointed. They make all of their desserts in house.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for years and finally came here for HH-hubby and I got the roasted brussel sprouts, rye reuben and bacon wrapped dates… everything was delicious… but very rich! It’s hard to find some healthier options but I’m glad I finally got to try it.

I’ve been here before and had a great experience. This last time, not so much. Our 6:15 reservation got our dinner to our table @ 7:55. Not sure what the trouble was, but it was well over an hour from the time we ordered to the time it arrived at the table. The server did not even acknowledge this. The food was pretty good, not sooo good that it was worth that kind of wait. I may give it another try, too many other good restaurants out there to have to compromise.

I do not go to the Stumbling Goat enough, as I am impressed by the food every time I go here! The quality of the ingredients and preparation of the food are consistently excellent. Oh, and did I mention the doughnuts and pastries! They are probably some of the best in the city! Light, fluffy, fresh, and truly a surprise! On to the food! From Duck Confit to French Toast, it is all excellent! They come up with some great food combinations here. Even a basic steak and eggs will come with a marvelous demi-glacé. The other day I had a green chile omelette with bacon, and it was truly wonderful! The staff are also very nice! As I’ve said in the past, My son has quite a few allergies. And they are very accommodating here! Overall, this place is a must try!

My expectations could have been very high as i saw the 4 star rating on Unilocal. To start off, I had made dinner reservation for me and my husband. Upon arrival, the hostess was busy on the phone and didn’t even bother to say«I will be right there», even though we were just standing for over 8 minutes waiting for her. After we finally got seated, we had to wait another 15 minutes for our server to even acknowledge us. The funny thing about the service of this restaurant is that they will take care of you after they acknowledges you as their customer. But even so, don’t expect immediate service. Service overall is very very slow. Next the food… Was the most salty food that I ever had. We had ordered the wild boar bolognese for my husband, and the roasted chicken for me, along with the clam chowder to share. The chowder was the only good thing that came out of it, but keep in mind that it cost $ 14 for a cup. The roasted chicken was so bad that I had to ask to pack home after eating 1⁄3 of it there(I was starving) so I could recook it by diluting it with some pasta as it was too salty for me to continue to eat as it is for the whole dish. My husband wasn’t too pleased with his pasta either as there’s clearly better pasta out there. And even the bread that we had, along with the dip, was very salty. I was surprised to find a tiny bowl of salt on the table for optional salt addition, as I’m not sure who would ever need more to what they already have!

I went here with a good friend during restaurant week and was very pleased with my meal. The name of the place fits well — when you walk in its dimly lit and seems like the perfect place to «stumble» into on a cold dark evening to catch up with a good friend and share a meal. Our server was sublime– so friendly and very candid with the dishes. I appreciate waitstaff that can confidently describe the food on the menu and ask you what you like/don’t like to help recommend items. Everything we had was super tasty. I didn’t leave mind blown from this place but is a great neighborhood spot I am happy to have tried.

Wonderful experience… food, service, atmosphere! There were four in my party, we each ordered and shared something different, and everything was great. The combination of flavors in each dish was incredible. We chose to sit at the bar, where both the bartender and our server were informative and attentive throughout our meal. The dishes we ordered were the semolina gnocchi, speck wrapped quail, grilled ahi, and braised pork belly. We agreed we would have all of those again. We also had two delightful appetizer specials. Our server made it a point to remove dirty dishes and pour our wine, making us feel very comfortable and cared-for. Desert was tasty as well. I had chocolate ice cream with Drambuie, and topped it with an extra salted-caramel sauce, served with a bit of shortbread, which was excellent. The salted caramel bomb was also very good. The atmosphere at this neighborhood bistro was warm and friendly. Since we sat at the bar, we had the opportunity to visit with some of the other customers, and all the staff made us feel right at home. This was our first time here, but won’t be our last. Well done and thank you, Stumbling Goat!

Why don’t I come here more often? I guess because it is a little out of my price range for a casual dinner, but for an occasion, it’s completely worth it. I’ve been here twice now, both times during either Seattle Restaurant Week or Dine Around Seattle(some 3 courses for about $ 30 dinner deal). This last time around, we went for my boyfriend’s birthday and here’s what I got: — Ginger Pear cocktail: Delightful! Refreshing and just sweet enough. — Lamb Tongue Soup: This was sort of like a minestrone soup with lots of vegetables and bits of lamb tongue, which sounds scary, but was actually really flavorful. — Pan Seared Idaho Trout: AMAZING. I wouldn’t have gone for trout without our waiter’s recommendation, but so glad I did. The butter, lemon and chanterelle flavors all worked together and it was a pretty large serving of trout. — Pear Almond Crostata: Served with ice cream and huckleberry sauce. So great. I’m not big on really rich and sweet desserts and this had the perfect amount of sweetness. The crostata was nice and flaky as well. My boyfriend had the Sunchoke Soup, Speck Wrapped Quail and Chocolate Peanut Butter Chiboust. He loved it all as well. Last time we came, I know the steak was the favorite for both of us. The service was wonderful. Our waiter checked in multiple times, filling our water, giving good recommendations, and even got a birthday candle in the dessert. One thing I like a lot about this place is that it is a nicer restaurant in the low-key Phinney Ridge neighborhood, but still with an intimate feel. It’s not too swanky and definitely not trying to be anything, but the amazing restaurant that it is. It’s always on my list to go back to and is a MUSTVISIT in Seattle!

The brioche French toast is amazing! It’s so fluffy. It’s one of the best French toasts I’ve ever had. I had the house made spicy sausage for sides. I like the flavor but it’s a bit too salty for me. My husband got the smoked trout egg benedicts. It’s good but not very outstanding that I would come back for it. 5 star for the French toast and everything else 3 star.

Great brunch today! We started with cocktails and pastries. The Bloody Mary’s had a lot of flavor and weren’t overly spicy(you can opt for the horseradish vodka). Also tried the Pink Puppy(Grapefruit and vodka) and the Moulin Rouge(Prosecco and Lillet Rose). Both were so good we had to have seconds. We tried three pastries(donuts) and all were really tasty — great combo of sweet and salty. Food order was eggs Benedict(eggs were cooked to perfection but the standout on the plate was the ham which was grilled and smoky), Duck Confit Hash(stellar) and the BLT on yummy Brioche. Good service and not too busy for a Sunday morning. Parking is a bit dodgy but worth the effort. Would love to go there for lunch or dinner next time.

Service was great, our waiters were friendly and attentive. This place is small and intimate its laid back and more of a casual setting where the focus is on food and service. Food was good however I found the dishes to be heavy handed with the salt. Usually I like my food a bit on the salty side, but this was way too salty I could not finish the dishes myself. I ordered the bone marrow, wrapped quail and the fish collar it would’ve been so much better if the saltiness hadn’t overpower everything. I give the service 4 stars and 3 stars for the food. I will give this place another try and hope to find tastier dishes without too much salt.

Just great. My first visit was in June 2011. I’m happy to say they are still around, and have improved mightily with age. They are clearly in the upper echelon of fine dining in this part of Seattle. Possibly in all of Seattle. Courses are inventive, unique, fresh ingredients; and served by well trained /personable servers. Drinks continue to be tasty, nice pour, and consistent with Seattle prices. I was thrilled to find the growth in the restaurant and SG will be on my visit list on each trip. Give it a try when in the area. Heck, go out of your way to get here.

Brunch, probably one of the best things you can have on a lazy weekend morning. After running 16 miles, brunch was on my mind. Brunch however is every chef’s worst nightmare and as such you can probably be assured that you don’t have the A-team on. This was probably true at the Stumbling Goat when I visited. So when you’re talking eggs, I feel like the biggest test is how well can you properly execute a basic egg dish. Probably the most challenging for most folks is the poached egg. What’s better than a perfectly poached egg? When you cut right into that yolk, I’m looking forward to that golden deliciousness ooze out. When I cut into my poached egg and see that it’s been half hard boiled… well, that’s just disappointing. The eggs hemmingway I ordered were otherwise delicious but a small execution error on the eggs and perhaps just a tad too heavy handed with the salt because near the end of the meal it really built up. The restaurant itself is a bit dark and even in the middle of a sunny afternoon, I felt like I was in a steakhouse rather than a bistro. Service from the kitchen was pretty slow given the limited number of tables that were being served and the waitstaff was ok. Overall, not a bad restaurant although I would have given them 4 stars had the eggs been properly poached.

Stumbling Goat is one of the few restaurants I’ve dined at for brunch where every person at my table(8 people total) cleared their plates. Yep, Stumbling Goat is THAT good! Our server Tess was convivial and we enjoyed her personality and willingness to give us the lowdown on the menu items.(Be sure to listen for the daily specials; they generally have about 3 – 4 specials that aren’t listed on the menu.) Brunch Recommendations: Duck Confit(A beautiful dish!) Croque Madame Anaheim Omelet Eggs Hemingway You can’t go wrong with any of those dishes, although I’m sure all the menu items are delightfully delicious. Stumbling Goat also has a good variety of brunch cocktails to pair with your dish. We had a great experience and I can’t wait to come back for dinner!

My wife and me went here for grabbing Sunday brunch. Walked in and got seated immediately. The place is laid back, casual and was a pleasant surprise to walk into. We got a table for 2 by the window. We settled down and ordered the hot pastrami and the french toast. The pastrami sandwich was excellent and flavorful with the cheese, sauerkraut and mustard aioli all in perfect flavor medley with the pastrami. The french toast was excellent and had a crunch on the top with being soft like custard in the middle. The pairing with the french toast was just delicious. The sandwich came we got a cup of artichoke soup as a side which was just about alright. Lastly we ordered a raspberry danish to close and it just added to the list of things we enjoyed during our brunch. The service was prompt and friendly and they were there when ever we needed something.

Went for brunch on Saturday around 12:30. Made reservation trough Unilocal,no line at all the place had around 8 – 10 customers. Got disappointed cause there were no lines ;) but the food was better then I was was expected. Coffee less then average Got specialty omelette — smoked salmon, capers; not bad at all Pastrami sandwich — good Pork sliders — good Overall — above average. If the place looked better or décor was better this place would have been packed :) Would recommend to try them out. Not too overpriced not cheap too.

Wow, came here last night for Restaurant Week and it was amazing from start to finish! I was instantly pleased that we picked this spot based on looks alone — cozy, intimate and, most importantly, homey and not pretentious. Just my kind of place! We were famished so we decided to really go for it and started our three-course meal off by adding a fourth course: a cheese plate. I found it to be a tasty one too, with a lovely soft goat cheese and creamy brie paired with homemade crackers, a rhubarb compote, dates and grapes. For the first course, I chose the artichoke Parmesan bisque with black garlic, crème fraîche and chives. It was surprisingly light and not overly rich. A really nice way to kick off my meal! My friend went with the baby greens salad with filberts, speck, pear and sherry vinaigrette. A pretty typical vinaigrette salad but still delicious. Our second courses were the star! I ordered the pan seared Idaho trout with English peas, pearl onions, pancetta, citronette. It was light yet so rich in flavor with the crispy pancetta, citronette and peas. And it was perhaps the best seasoned piece of fish I’ve ever tasted! My friend ordered the pork tenderloin with creamy polenta, sauteed greens and sauce Robert. First of all, the portion was gigantic and yet she still cleaned her plate(with a little assistance from me) — it was just that good. I’m telling you, it was the MOST tender pork tenderloin I have EVER had, no joke! I must not have been living before, because pork tenderloin to me has always been tough and chewy, but this was buttery and quite literally melted in your mouth. It was just a bonus that it was also served with delicious creamy polenta and a decadent sauce. Wow! Dessert sealed the deal. I ordered the griddled poppyseed bergamont pound cake with rhubarb, beramont curd, vanilla ice cream and cardamom toffee. Amazing. My friend ordered the macaron ice cream sandwich with strawberry ice cream. Also amazing. Really I applaud The Stumbling Goat for choosing a perfect Seattle Restaurant Week menu that highlighted the season and showcased the best of what they have to offer. I just can’t wait to return to sample more items off their menu!

Atmos: Warm/Homey, slightly rustic, low and high tables and bar seating. Classy but not formal. Server: Friendly! knowledgeable. Attentive. Free table bread: Good! Italian bread, served room temp with a tomato scented herb olive oil Pear Baby Green Salad: Good! A bit salty with the sliced speck so be prepared! the leaves are giant(not so baby) :p the pear was perfectly ripe and the hazelnuts are a nice splash. Wild Boar Bolognese: Great! Thick finely ground boar over fresh fettuccini. The flavor isn’t powerful but it is balanced and nice.

With all my exploring in Phinney over the last few months, I’m not sure how I could’ve missed this spot! We went on a Wednesday and no reservations were needed(though it’s better to be safe on weekends apparently), and got a nice table by the front. Noise level is ambient, tables are cozy but not on top of each other, and the feel is very relaxed. Tried the oxtail soup special for an appetizer and my friend had the foie gras special app. Both were superb, but the soup was really well made, almost to a light stew. For dinner, my friend went with the pork cutlet special and I went with the hanger steak. The pork was great, and I know she liked it, but the 8oz hanger steak was just delectable and served at a perfect medium rare. And for only $ 24, I was very happy. Hazelnut pie for dessert– check! Suitable wine list– yes! Cocktails — not sure… I wanted to leave something on the table to come back and try again next time…
