Business is closed down for good. Darn I was so in the food for their yummy lunch buffet too :( The sign on the door says the block is being torn down for an apartment building.

Really sad this place closed, it was one of my favorites in the U. I always thought the food at Tandoor was better than other Indian joints nearby and it was typically pretty quiet. The staff was always very nice too. You will be missed!

Really good inexpensive Indian lunch buffet. Very tasty chicken and grilled vegetables. Small spread but god quality, especially for the price.

Very consistent with their food. Lunch buffet is very affordable and delicious. Everything is fresh here. I love their fried bread, chutney. The«Chutney,» selections is less than it was before. My favorite were their BBQ Chicken and butter chicken. For less than $ 9 it’s impossible to find another good buffet these days.

I didn’t really like it. I had the lamb tikka masala and my friend had the chicken tikka masala. I thought both weren’t good. It didn’t come with nann bread, so I ordered the garlic basil one and there was so much butter on it… It was kinda gross. I didn’t like this place and wouldn’t come here again.

Loved the food and the service was excellent! It was my first experience at an authentic Indian restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

I will preface this review with this, I only order vegetarian when ordering Indian food. With that said, I think this place is the best Indian place in the area. I am a eggplant bharta fiend and this place does it right. Right taste and right texture. Real good.

Tandoor is my comfort food home. The food is outstanding. Eating out is one of my favorite things to do and I’ve been to a lot of places in Seattle and still Tandoor has the number one spot in my heart. My usual order is the chicken shai korma, vegetable jalfrezie, garlic naan, vegetable samosa, rice pudding and mango pudding for 2 people and we pleasingly always have leftovers. Which means I get to have even more delicious food the next day. Customer service is awesome. The restaurant is homey. The environment is comforting and chill. I often like to compare chicken shai korma from Tandoor with other Indian restaurants and I won’t say that I know exactly what the dish should taste like but I do know that I prefer Tandoor’s version more than other places. The strong flavors hit the spot, the smooth blend of the flavors work together, the texture is just right, not too runny and not too thick and the orange color of the curry is so pleasing. Other places their curry was sweeter, more soupy, lesser in quantity, and unappealing. I’m just never disappointed with Tandoor. Thank you for existing :)

I love this place — it’s not too fancy at all but the food is great and the people who run the place are so friendly. Pick up orders are ready to go in 15 to 20 minutes and the nan is to die for! Even though we don’t order that often they always recognize my voice and always remember to hold the cilantro! When my son forgot his jacket there they again remembered us and called to let us know.

The best Chicken Korma in the U District! I absolutely love indian cuisine — and these guys don’t disappoint! A little pricey, but the flavor makes up for it!

This is my new fav Indian restaurant. They have the best butter chicken and their rice is delicious! Their lunch buffet also has a wide variety of curries for a very cheap price per person!

If I could just review this place on their food, I would give it 2 ½ stars. We decided to try the buffet, for the choices it provided. That being said, four of the ten options were chicken based, one(dry) lamb dish, and the rest were vegetarian. The sauces were all very similar and we even watched the waitress just add more chicken to one dish when the meat had run out. How long does the sauce just get reused? We enjoyed that chai was included in the buffet price, but it was unsweetened and had very little milk. Naan was also a nice surprise inclusion, though it was papery and not very good. Our biggest gripe is that we tried them out with the intention to use the entertainment coupon that they put in the book. It shouldn’t expire for five more months, but the waitress refused to take it. It doesn’t say anywhere that they don’t accept it, though it mentions no longer taking the certificates. I was told that the entertainment book is to benefit the community, and they can stop accepting it when ever they want. My disappointment is not in the refusal to take the discount, but of poor, deceiving business practices. There are MANY area Indian restaurants that are much better for price, quality of food, and integrity.(We love Taste of India).

Bug bites. Our party was seated in the back of the restaurant and the people who sat along the wall with the pillows later found incredibly itchy bug bites. These two people where not together anywhere else that day where they could have been bitten and the people not sitting by the pillows were fine. While we didn’t see the bugs and thus cannot identify them, they were likely not flea bites as one of the people had been bitten by fleas recently while visiting a friend with indoor/outdoor pets and the bites looked and felt considerably different. As soon as the bites appeared clothes were washed and the car vacuumed. We wanted to caution people from sitting by pillows in the back. If the bites were bed bugs, we don’t want them to spread further. The restaurant was notified and hopefully they will take care of the situation soon. If things are fixed and cleanliness improved, the rating for the restaurant would be 3 or 3.5* for the ave,

Tandoor probably is one of the better lunch buffets on the Ave. I believe it’s $ 8 on weekdays and $ 9 on weekends, which is an absolute steal. I love their grilled veggies as well as the pakora – good starters before you dig into the meat and curries. With that being said, the meat and curries aren’t outstanding by any means – they just happen to offer a wider variety than other Indian lunch buffet competitors on the Ave. The naan is fairly disappointing, too thin and a little bland. It is nice that they bring it out to your table, however, instead of letting it get soggy on the buffet bar. The one time I stopped by for dinner, I ordered Chicken Vindaloo. It was decent, but not memorable. And if I was ever in the UD craving Indian food for dinner in the future, I’d make a beeline for Cedars anyway.

This place has become my «go to» Indian restaurant for the delicious food it offers and the attentive staff. It is a great place for gluten free individuals and vegetarians. Favorite items on the menu:(**These are all gluten free!!) –Papadam: Sun dried lentil crackers that are absolutely delicious, light, and flavorful served with 2 different types of sauces. — Vegetable Pekora: Crunchy on the outside, soft and tasty on the inside. — Lamb Tikka Masala: The lamb is some of the best I’ve had and tastes wonderful with the spices in this dish. –Saag Lamb –Butter chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala: Both are delicious, and the chicken is perfectly cooked in both. **So far, I have been pleased with everything on the menu and would definitely recommend this place to anyone. There is also free parking for an hour!

Rarely do I find an Indian restaurant in this city that meets my expectations for quality food, service and understanding that I like my food HOT! This place gets it. The vindaloo and chili masala are great, the service is always knowledgeable and attentive(way above normal Indian restaurant standards), and the lunch/dinner menus are well priced. I know this next thing is rarely a specialty of Indian restaurants, but, my one recommendation is for them to offer a better beer selection. They are in a city that cares about beer, and a good beer is a great compliment to spicy food… maybe they don’t need taps, but why not just offer the whole Fremont or Odin lineup? Definitely the best Indian food within 5 blocks of the UW.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. Dinner is a little pricer, but it’s similar to prices for all Indian restaurants. I love this place because of the wait staff and the buffet. Butter chicken FTW. Parking is free for an hour which is great because Seattle parking is atrocious. I digress, come here and fall in love with the food. Love this place.

Have I totally had a craving for an Indian buffet for the past month… Why yes, I have. Today, the quest was completed. I’m dandling along in the UDistrict post shopping and suddenly see a sign… Indian buffet…$ 7.99(weekday)/8.99(weekend). Honestly, it was like my feet were taking me where I was meant to go for lunch. 1. I am a vegetarian. I didn’t try the meat. Just a pre-cursor. But, this definitely satisfied my Indian buffet craving. Hot stuff: Let’s start with the hot stuff. There were 4 chicken dishes — obviously didn’t touch those. Then there were three samosa fried type things, rice, and some random veggie patty looking things that I wasn’t really interested in. There were five hot vegetarian dishes. Cauliflower and potatoes, paneer, spinach, and chickpeas along with stir fried mixed veggies. The stir fried mixed veggies were the standout — perfectly seasoned and a great variety. But, then again, I am not called the Veggie Girl for nothing. Everything else was also yummy, but the paneer had a tiny bit too much oil. It all hit the spot! Cold: Yum! It was a hot day so the seasoned watermelon was perfect. What, seasoned, watermelon? Yep, I asked and she said they do it for freshness, but I actually thought the seasoning added a nice taste. There were also some yummy chutney sauces, pickled veggies, fresh veggie salad, something caeser-like, cole slaw, oranges… am I missing anything? Basically, some great cold veggie options as well. Don’t forget dessert. Chai tea, these fried dough things(ummm…scary), rice pudding, mango custard, and carrot pudding. I actually tried the carrot pudding out of curiosity. It was super tasty… probably not healthy. And, it all came with naan… Sorry, you are probably expecting a naan revelation here, but nothing to write home about. The server was also very nice and it seemed to have that small, family restaurant atmosphere. It looked like most people went for the lunch buffet. But, basically for $ 9 and the amount of options, it was a GREAT deal and totally satisfied my Indian food craving!!!

Best lunch buffet on the Ave? I think so. Maybe even one of the best restaurants on the Ave as well. It’s amazing how much good food you can get in the weekday lunch buffet for $ 7.99. It becomes $ 6.99 with the coupon from the student survival kit. And with free chai and naan included, it’s really one of the sweetest deals you can find in the area. Of course you can also order dishes aside from the buffet, so they have a nice variety. The buffet is actually rather small, but the selection isn’t too limited. There are many different kinds of meat, curry, and vegetables to go with the abundant basmati rice. The food is surprisingly filling, so I didn’t get to eat as much as I had hoped. They also have a number of desserts for $ 2.95, and they take a while to arrive because they’re homemade. Overall, the restaurant is an excellent experience at a low price. I’m surprised there weren’t more people in the restaurant when I was there.
