Mediocre food. Fried rice tasted burnt and the kids wouldn’t eat it. Pad Ke Mao was not the usual thick flat noodle and sauce I’m used to having. It was okay. We prob won’t be back.

So-so at best. Got the Pad Thai and Red Curry… It’s worth the extra 5 minute drive to go elsewhere.

My first time at Tangerine I got Pla Koong(shrimp salad) there was not much flavor and small for the price. Next I tried delivery, I was told 40 minutes, after 1 hour I called to see when to expect it. Another 20 minutes later, I got my cold, sub-par not much flavor noodle dish. On my 3rd attempt, I got take out. The meat and veggies were not chopped small at all and there was no spice when I asked for 3 stars! No flavor, not prepped well and bad service!

i have been eating here since Tangerine opened and each year the food is not as good and more expensive .but the Sat night was the finale. we ordered Pad See Ew with chicken and broccoli, Pad Param(swimming angel) with fried tofu and fresh rolls we thought filled with what was on the menu… total bill $ 30.for takeout .it was 9:30 At the house. 3 containers. the pub see ew was noodles stuck together. with little else, the Pad param. $ 1 worth of ingredients. boiled tofu… the rolls had noodles and cilantro.. i returned with pad see ew on monday explaining my huge disappointment. they asked why i hadn’t come back Sat night. the waiter questioned me wrote a page took my receipt. i asked for a credit for a decent meal. that was a week ago. i never heard from the restaurant. so i guess either they are going broke and can’t give a credit or they would rather have me write a critical review to save $ 5 because that is all the food is worth… i started several well known restaurants in this town so i believe i know good food from junk.

I ordered Tom Yum Kai soup with tofu and it was pretty terrible. The taste was bland and kind of fishy and there were large pieces of tomatoes in it(not listed on the menu) and green onions(also not listed in the menu). It seemed like old soup. Certainly a waste of money.

I wanted to order delivery from Tangerine Thai last night and tried calling for 1 hour 20 minutes and finally gave up. Their phone kept going to voicemail and saying that their mailbox is full and to call back.

The food is good but nothing special. We have only had takeout from Tangerine Thai so I can’t speak about the in-house service but for take out the portion sizes are so meager. We have ordered from here quite a few times because it is close by and they deliver but I think this time is our last — there are too many good options in the neighborhood. Across the board, the portion sizes are super small, tiny little boxes of rice or the curry with only half of the carton full — its stingy and definitely not what I paid for.

This place has amazing food. The best pad thai I ever tried. Truly recommend it. Is a small place, very calm and clean. The bathroom is so clean(this for me is very important, means too much of the place).

We had a great experience dining in. All our dishes were delicious, timely, and well priced. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable modern. I sat next to a woman recently on a plane who said it was her favorite Thai so wanted try it again. So glad we did.

Tangerine Thai is the most unbelievable restaurant in the world. It is the only restaurant I know where you can get two meals for the price of one and actually lose calories. The first meal goes down tasty a bit oily, and the second meal comes up covered in your stomach acid! You won’t even need to do your morning run to burn the calories because you’ll have a great workout vomiting your lungs up for days on end, free of charge! In all seriousness. It is 3:30am right now and I literally just got done vomiting all evening with a fever and shakes because of an undercooked chicken meal I had about 9 hours ago from the sweetly named Tangerine Thai. I’ve actually had food poisoning from this restaurant in the past, but it was very minimal(and apparently didnt learn my lesson). THIS, however, is the worst experience I’ve had being sick. I’m still sweating and with the acidic taste of their meal that I just had to taste a second time. And then I had to keep drinking water to be able to throw something up hours after the meal finally found the receptacle it would have the fate of laying to rest in, I urge you not to chance having the same experience as me. Very nice people, though. I feel bad to have to rant and warn people about this. DON’T GO. UPDATE: It is the next afternoon. Collapsed and went unconscious at 7am, the fire department had to come to my house and I had to be monitored while I regained fluids back into my body. And still dealing with it 24 hours later. I went to the restayrant to confront them and they didn’t even apologize, they were only concerned that all the customers were leaving the restaurant from what I was saying to them. :/ UPDATE: Day 3… Severe diarrhea. Have to go to hospital because of loss of fluids and nutrients.

This is a cute little spot on Phinney, with a great wall that completely opens up on nice days. The food is good to very good. Unfortunately, that doesn’t make up for the slooooooooooooow service. We were in there the other night, with only one other table, and it took over 40 minutes between ordering and food coming out. The waiter gave us menus, took orders, then didn’t reappear until the food was ready. So just beware, it may take a while… Just a note — the spiciness tends to be on the heavy side, so round down on the star-level…

We don’t live far at all(about 15 blocks) and yet the delivery food we got was awful. Egg rolls: Do not taste fresh, have that stringy/old texture, are very oily and the sauce is pointless(watery/sour/tasteless). Mee Krob: The noodles are fried and tasty, however the sauce is extremely thin, the veggies are awfully overcooked and the five shrimp are rubbery and small. Sticky Rice/Mango dessert: AWFUL. It’s a gloppy, salty(?!) dense mess of what tastes like regular rice with sugar added, the sauce smells of fake/.cheap coconut and the mango was old/disintegrating. No black or white sesame seeds. Just awful. We had this dessert two days ago at Tawon Thai in Fremont and it was sublime! Delicate, sweet rice with lots of fresh mango in a heavenly coconut sauce garnished with toasted black and white sesame seeds — just amazing. This place — Tangerine Thai — is hit or miss, but seems to overcook the food way too often and the balance is always off. Maybe they are better in house, but there are too many clues that the food is just not worth it. I wish we had better Thai delivery(or really, ANY delivery) that’s worthwhile in the Phinney area…

I stumbled in one day starving right as they opened and in a flash I had spring rolls and duck curry that we’re nothing like I expected but so good!

Disappointed in the red curry with chicken. The tiny portion of chicken was insulting for $ 13. The flavor is pretty good. Ive eaten here many times. I like that they deliver. Its convenient. It’s ok. Im never blown away.

boooooo :(I was so sad that I didn’t like this place because i’m in desperate need for a Thai go-to in this neighborhood and I haven’t found one yet. I ordered one of my ALLTIME favorite soups the Chicken Tom Kha and whoa… I thought that I had ordered the wrong thing until I looked at their menu afterwards and saw that they didn’t really have any soup that even tasted like the one I got. It definitely was not Tom Kha. It didn’t even have a hint of coconut taste to it, and wasn’t creamy one bit. I asked for 3 stars and it was SOOO spicy that I couldn’t taste much of any flavor besides that. It had some weird veggies in it too — and maybe like 4 tiny slices of chicken. The pad thai was bland bland bland!!! seriously disappointed. My BF ordered the swimming rama(called something different on their menu) and the spinach was raw. not even warmed. It was just not good and a waste of 35 $ on take out :-/ The restaurant itself is pretty small so I wouldn’t plan on going here if you have a big group. More geared towards takeout then eating in

Very solid Thai establishment! We ventured to Tangerine shortly after moving to our new Phinney home, and we had very high hopes as our last Thai joint was(and still is) fantastic! We were very happy with our experience. Parking was a little difficult to find at first as there is no dedicated lot, but we learned that this is the normal in this neighborhood. The venue had a nice feel to it, almost resembling a converted garage at one point. We ordered a couple of dishes to share which included the Pad See Ew and Spicy fried rice. The spicy fried rice was definitely my favorite, and I would highly recommend you try it. All in all, this is good, tasty Thai food. Service is decent and prices are fair.

My husband and I have ordered from here several times now(it’s in the ‘hood), and it’s pretty A-OK… It’s definitely not the best Thai I’ve ever had, but it’s good enough to keep ordering. There are plenty of vegetarian options(tofu or just veggies, no mock meats here) and the soups are spicy and will clear you out during cold season. The noodles and pad thai dishes are good, but unfortunately, the noodles are always overcooked(I find this in many restaurants, so it’s not a huge shock), but the flavors rock. The curries are another reason this place gets 3 stars instead of 4, they are just HEAVY. If you have left overs and refrigerate, they will thicken to a firm solid. Ack. Of course curries should be rich, but this is a bit much for me – and they always feel a bit skimpy, too little on the veggies already. Overall, I would recommend if you want take out in your ‘hood, but I’m not sure that I’d make this a destination dinner. Keep in mind, we’ve only ordered take out, have never been to the actual restaurant.

I came here for dinner on a Thursday night for a quick bite. Service and food was average. Restaurant was a little cold and empty for a Thursday night. Enjoyed the Tom Yum Soup and Pad Khing. Prices are a little high for portion size. Favorites: Tom Yum Soup with fried tofu

Fresh ingredients, relaxing open atmosphere, but it’s just too spicy for me! We started with the tom yum kung which was full of fresh prawns and would have had an excellent cilantro flavor to it had I not choked the minute I put it in my mouth. It was just too spicy for me to drink! We had ordered it 3-star spicy which I can usually handle, but after trying the soup, we asked our waiter to change the rest of our food to 2-star. The chicken curry and tofu pad thai came out still a little too spicy for me, but more manageable. The curry was very rich with a strong coconut flavor and it was full of bamboo shoots and tender white meat. The pad thai had lots of fresh bean sprouts and little squares of tofu but it was also quite liberally laced with hot red peppers. I liked it a lot anyway. My fault for believing that I’m not a wuss when it comes to spice, but I’ll be asking for 1-star when I come next. Overall, Tangerine is not the best Thai food I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty tasty nonetheless. I agree that it’s not a destination Thai restaurant, but one of the best in the area.
