Cons: They have one of those iPad systems that pushes you for a tip, and people awkwardly will do it every time, but its annoying. You have to factor tips into the cost, at the same rate you would for baseline wait staff. Pros: The food is SO good. Get the number one with chicken, and just enjoy. People ding them for too much bread or stupid stuff like that, just enjoy it. Amazing blends of tastes. My German friend says its better in Germany, but in the US, they are the best. Hap hour is awesome too.

Great sandwich — had the Berliner! HUUUUUGE portions, if you eat a whole one you’re a glutton or haven’t eaten in 2 days. I enjoyed it and will be back.

I thought the food had decent flavor but 2 ½ hours later, very very bad things happened. I’m not sure if it was the mango yogurt drink or the large sandwich which I can only describe as «loose meat in a bread diaper smothered in creamy garlic sauce.» I actually enjoyed my meal even if it was very awkward to bite into. Unfortunately, the very bad experience I had with my body afterwards makes me highly reluctant to return. The people there were really nice. I’m sorry I can’t rate this higher at this time.

The beef/lamb quality is terrible. My sandwich was full of gristle.

This place has great food, don’t get me wrong. I recommend visiting right at the 3:00pm to 5:00pm window of time because this is their happy hour. All doner kebabs are $ 4! A great deal. I visited with my mother, who is a German citizen and wanted to try the doner kebabs here in Seattle. She loves doner kebabs and liked the flavor of the Kreuzberg we ordered. They provide very generous portion sizes, with delicious selection of meats or veggies and bread choices for their doner kebabs. The menu options are named after cultural hubs in Germany, such as «Berlin, Kreuzeberg, etc» and there is German artwork painting the walls. This place very much has a «hole in the wall» type feel to it. While the food is good, and cheap(if you go during Happy Hour), the people working there do not seem happy. The guy in line ahead of us waited for 10 minutes to be helped, and no one ever came to help him so he left! My mother and I chose to continue to wait because we were waiting until the 3:00pm Happy Hour pricing. If I were him though, I would have been pissed and gave this place a 1 star review. My mother also tried to strike up conversation with the woman helping us, and she did not look up or acknowledge us except for a few grunts. She seemed disinterested, unhappy, and did not provide a sense that we were welcome there. I also felt kind of bad for her, because she was the sole person working the cash register AND preparing the food during the 3 o’clock happy hour rush. There were 2 other employees working with her, but they remained hidden in the back kitchen and seemed as if they wanted to avoid all customers. This place would be a 4 stars cuz of the food, but I knocked it down to 3 stars simply because the people working here are miserable. The business owner needs to make them happier!

5 stars. If you are looking for a meal under $ 10 near the Amazon campus in South Lake Union — The Berliner Doner Kebab is a definite must. I am a vegetarian, so I usually get the tofu feta Berliner — you can chose either a pita or a custom bread. I prefer the pita, the custom bread can be a little heavy. The food is flavorful and the service is quick. They don’t have much seating at this location, so best take out.

I’ve been coming to The Berliner for the past three years. I usually get the House chicken döner(«doo-nah» or something close to it is the German pronunciation) flat bread. It’s very filling, tasty, and cheap — Triple Crown winner in my book. Do yourself a favor and try one. Lunch for under $ 10 is not easy to come by in SLU. Go there before noon to avoid the long lunch line. Berliner also has a punch card so ask for one($ 5 discount when you fill up the card). Seating is pretty limited.

This is the best Doner kabab I’ve eaten in Seattle. Make sure you get it on the house bread.

It is the best doner kabab I ever had in Seattle and Los Angeles area. Closest thing to the actual Turkish version I had in Istanbul. I love the home made bread which is much better compare to regular boring wraps.

They offer a pretty tasty Doner kebab here. In fact, I’d say that the one I had was way better than the one I had in Istanbul. This was mostly because I don’t like lamb and the one I had in Istanbul had way more lamb in the mixture with beef than I cared for. I guess if you’re looking for a more beef flavor gyro meat mixture, this is your place. I came during happy hour and it was not busy at all. I appreciated that everything was discounted to $ 5. It is a really affordable price after 3ish(not quite sure when happy hour starts). I ordered the Beringer kebab because it comes with garlic spread. It was super tasty. The sandwich was filled with a lot of vegetables too. I would say that it has less meat than the places I’ve gone to but that is probably because it is $ 5 — they are trying to get rid of the left over meat. What makes this place 3 stars is because of the cleanliness factor. The cashier handled our money and used the same hands to put on his gloves. I’m glad that he put on gloves after handling money but his dirty hands contaminated the top of the gloves, which were used to make our sandwiches. He should have washed his hands and then put on the gloves. Gross. I ignored this fact and ate the sandwich anyways. Haven’t gotten any food poisoning yet! :) The pita is also super thick. It is as if they want to fill you up on thick carbs to compensate for the lack of meats in the sandwich. The pita is still pretty tasty though.

First time ordered the regular bread — pretty good. not quite the doner you’re probably used to. second time ordered in pita bread — tastes good but it completely falls apart. juices even break the paper. i ended up having to get a to go box from another place, just to save the wrap and ate it with a fork/knife, with all the filling on one side, and the dry bread on another.

Great food, great price especially happy hour. Unfortunately, the guy running the place today decided to close down early. I showed up at 5:52pm and the sign and Google maps clearly say 6pm. I had even called at a out 5:45 to make sure they were open and it was still happy hour. Me and my three friends visiting from out of town sprinted to make it on time, and we knocked on the window and the bastard just ignored us. We knocked louder until he finally acknowledged us and then just continued to ignore us. Poor service, horrible experience this time, but I’ve been to that place many times before and it’s always been good, but this time, fail. Obviously the guy was trying to close down early so he could get home early, which would be fine if he didn’t do it before it says it’s closed. Bastard.

Doner has good sandwiches and one of the nicest cashiers I’ve met in downtown, but the restaurant is a little dirty around the floor and kitchen area. Additionally, it was 8.25 for a wrap(beef and lamb) this seemed a bit overpriced and the food was filling for me but 8.25 was a stretch. They had a nice selection of Mexican coke and fanta and an Indian mango yogurt drink but the yogurt drink was at a big 3.30 ish…

Arguably the best sandwich in Seattle! I had pretty low expectations coming into Berliner which might have contributed to me being blown away. But still. Once I took that first bite of Doner, I realized what I had been missing out on my whole life. The Doner I order every time is the House with garlic sauce, spiced mayo, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion and pickled red cabbage. The flavors are indescribable and yet, if I had to compare it to anything it would be the zesty, savory flavors of a good quality gyro, in a perfect, leavened flatbread unlike any other. The flatbread is something else. Do yourself a favor and walk right out that door if they say they are sold out of the flatbread because the bread absolutely MAKES the doner! Also a tip: it tastes ten times better when standing up, hunched over, meat juices dripping down your face and eating it outside on your way to a game in SoDo ;) Just saying.

The first couple times I had the doner kebab, I thought it was excellent. I think quality has since gone down… I think the portions are still huge and that the house garlic sauce is excellent, but the sandwich doesn’t make an impression on me as it used to — maybe it’s the meat? It’s about $ 8 for the regular size during lunch and about $ 5.50 for the regular size during happy hour(3−6pm). It’s a good meal that will make you quite full. Definitely A-OK.

Has the most flavorful sauces. Try the sandwich in flat bread. It is so full of the contents inside that you feel like just eating half sandwich BUT it is so tasty that you end up eating the whole sandwich. It’s a great value for money! They have all their sandwiches in Vegetarian tofu, Chicken and Lamb n beef options so veggies dont be constrained by options. I have tried options 1,2,3 with tofu and feta and i just want to have the taste in my mouth forever. I have been going here for my regular lunches as it is quick, affordable for daily meals, and one of the tastiest option available in SLU. A must try!!!

Since my last review, I’ve been to the Berliner many times. It was kind of a lunch staple for me over the summer. I still love their classic doner(#1 I think on the menu) but I’ve since begun a second affair with the Fiery Kreuzberg. I just can’t resist the heat. I’ve also had a chance to try their chicken doners, which have a slightly different flavor from the lamb and beef ones, but are equally delicious in their own way. I still feel like I’ve eaten a baby after coming here, and I still love this place. Their happy hour is the greatest. 5 dollars for a huge, satisfying lunch can’t go wrong.

It was so good, I couldn’t stop eating and ate the whole dang thing. I feel like a chunk. Worth it. I’m not sure why this place doesn’t have better reviews: the flavor is amazing, great selection, decent prices, friendly staff. Could there be more meat in the bread? Definitely. But that holds true for any middle eastern restaurant I’ve ever been to; both here, and in the actual Middle East.

Consistanly good lunch, short wait, good price. I like the Fladbrod,(Flatbread). Both the chickenand Lamb/beef were good. I really liked the lamb/beef. This is not Middle East or Turkish Doner. It like more like what you find as street food in Germany. Caution! The spicy options are very spicy!

Meh, it wasn’t what I was expecting. I was thinking authentic. but flat bread That’s too thick and tortillas are NOT pita bread there is no substitute and where is the tzaziki sauce? This was packed with folder veggies and strange pickles. By thetime i walked back to Dawson Building it was a soggyc gross mess. If you want authentic, then don’t come here.

Oh good god!!! All these damn 4 – 5 stars Elite reviews?! Don’t believe the hype. This place is a solid 3. First bite… bread. 2nd bite… bread. 3rd… wtf…did I order some dinner rolls?! Don’t get me wrong, the bread was good… but hot dog!!! Put something in the middle! A lot of dough for the money. Oh and btw: those pictures are deceiving! Carb-ed out, E

Awesome place in SLU for lunch. I tried the berliner option, and while the bread was a little thicker, it’s still very tasty. They warmed it up slightly and when you bite into it you get that amazing smell of freshly baked bread. Salad that they put on was also great, had a bit of cilantro and lots of bite with cucumber. Very fast service and friendly staff. Prices are also great, especially for how much food you get. Even better is during their happy hour where everything is 5 dollars. The first time I came looking for this place, I thought I was in the wrong area since there is another one in downtown. It’s a very small place, and you could easily miss it if you don’t look around carefully.

Finally made it to Berliner today, and I was seriously NOT disappointed. I lived in Berlin 9 months last year and Döner Kebap are everywhere there. I got the Berliner Döner here and it was amazing. It had the cilantro which was a very nice touch, but overall it was not only delicious, it was VERY authentic. I would and will go back there again and again, and I suggest you give it a try, too! :)

Now this is the ULTIMATE lunch option and ULTIMATE hungover cure. Let me quote my co-worker when he said all food before this was a lie. People have tattoos of this place. Yes, its that good. When I eat in there all anyone can talk about is how spectacular their food. Its like everyone is having this incredible experience together. So know that you know my opinion about the taste there are a few other things I should point out. The portions are outta. con. trollll. the staff is friendly and always supportive of your ordering preferences. They sometimes do run out. But I like a place that«runs out» because that means they are probably delicious and also that they keep stuff fresh! This place boasts both! Cons are that its a tiny place, and they are closed on weekends. Super sad about that!
