They have unfortunately closed their doors. They run the little restaurant in the Boo Han Market in Edmonds so you can enjoy their food there. Its called Babsarang.

Dear everyone in the Unilocal thread who suggested Green Garden to me when I asked for a Korean place to take my midwest-bred boyfriend, THANKYOU. Love, Kelsey P. S. Soft tofu soup and banchan FTW.(He had BiBimBop but was much more interested in my soft tofu soup.)

I likey the green garden! BBQ wise it is pretty good but its not my favorite in Shoreline. But, they have good banchan and they serve Soon Dae(Sundae) aka Korean blood sausage!!! I love this stuff! Not for everyone for obvious reasons. I also like getting the seafood pancake here. There is usually only one waitress working here so things can grind to a halt if it gets busy which is usually pretty rare. TRY the blood sausage!

Very good Korean food at prices lower than most. They’ve rearranged the furniture and it looks more open than it used to and they got rid of the TV. My wife is very fond of the lady that runs the place. She is very sweet and, my wife being white, she feels that some of the other Korean places don’t treat her nearly as nicely as this lady. The biggest plus is that we always seem to get the runs at the other places in the area but never here.

Some nights I dream about BiBimBop. A staple of Korean cuisine, it’s essentially a rice bowl with a beautifully arranged assortment of meats and veggies. Mix it together, add some hot sauce, and you’ve got some of the best food on earth! My boyfriend had never had Korean food, and he agreed to make a stop at the Green Garden restaurant with me. A small, tidy, comfortable restaurant, the walls are covered in beautiful Korean art. Alcohol posters with attractive Korean models are a reminder to try the Raspberry Wine or the Cass beer. The food at The Green Garden was great. The Dolsotbop, served in a stone bowl, was fresh and delicious. The tasty side dishes, called Banchan, included black beans, tofu, cole slaw, broccoli, and Kimchee. The fresh food, gracious service, and nice environment make The Green Garden my new favorite Korean restaurant. AND my boyfriend now loves Korean food.(yes!)

My mom’s Korean home cookin’ can’t be beat-but Green Garden isn’t bad at all! I always get the tofu dohlsot: a steaming put of yummy, veggie, crispy ricey goodness! The staff is always nice and I always see their kids running around, which is heart warming. I also like the TV which always plays«Come to Korea and eat kimchi» commercial type programs(they really make me want to go to Korea!), and all of the alcohol posters with famous Korean people on them. Funny note: I went into the men’s room once because the women’s room was occupied and there are all of these posters of scantily clad Korean women hanging on the walls. It’s pretty funny but a bit strange. Anyway-two thumbs up!

The food here is ok, but I don’t think it warrants all these 4 and 5 star reviews. We ordered the kalbi barbecue and the seafood soondubu which were both decent, but I’ll be surprised if this was the best Korean in Seattle proper. The kalbi was nicely marinated, though there wasn’t much meat on the bones. The soondubu wasn’t soupy enough and they obviously didn’t make the tofu fresh. It was spicy but a little lacking in other ingredients because it tasted monotonous. I think I’ll try some other places before coming back!

It appears that some time over the past few weeks, I’ve turned into a raging bibimbap fiend. Maybe it’s the grey skies that’s making me long for Asian comfort food, but Korean food is my crack of choice these days. So, after waking up on a Sunday with a wicked hangover and a grumbly tummy, I knew that I could at least quell the rumbling with piping hot Korean food. My husband and I shared an order of bibimbap with chicken, along with an order of galbi. The bibimbap was served in a way I’d never had it before, which I’d call«deconstructed». Instead of serving all the ingredients over rice, we were given a bowl with a perfectly done over-easy egg(which I much prefer over sunny-side up as other places normally serve it), and a separate dish containing the«toppings»(meat, mushrooms, veggies) and the separate metal bowl of rice. First, you dump the rice over the eggs, then the other stuff, then mix to your heart’s content. Yum. I liked the addition of fresh lettuce in the topping assortment; it made the meal feel healthier. :) The galbi was good. It was served already cut up instead of bone-in, which was also different to me. It was still great, though, if a little bit on the salty side. The banchan was slightly bland; the kim chi didn’t have the spicy«oomph» heat that I expect out of it. I liked the glazed potatoes, though they also lacked a little bit of heat. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and the check for our two dishes(plus a couple of Cokes) ended up being around $ 35 — bargain! I’m definitely coming back as soon as the Korean food DTs start again, which I hope is soon. :)

Many moons ago, I tried Korean food for the first time. I remember it well — the boyfriend, myself, and our guildmates hit up this spot on Saturday night after a siege [oh yeah! a winrar is me!], and all was well. That was the first time I had pork bulgogi… and from that moment on, life would never be the same. The cravings for Korean would never be satiated — the thought of banchan and a sizzling hot platter of meat in front of me has always been in my mind when I think«what should I eat today?» So when a day off and a need for comfort food happened to coincide, one Facebook status update later I had a dinner date with Gwen C. to check this place out. This was my first time going since the name change, but the food was still the same to-die-for deliciousness it’s always been, served to you on a cow-shaped plate. The server was lovely, and listed all the banchan as she placed them on the table [I just eat everything that comes out, but I appreciate being told, too! Makes me feel special, haha]… Two huge platters of meat, tons of banchan and some darn good conversation and service for only $ 35 before tip? Makes me glad I moved back to Haller Lake! Swoon. More FB status cries for dinner companions will undoubtedly come soon…

Came back again for lunch last week and had the Combination Sundubu. I wanted ‘medium’ spiciness, but it was pretty mild. The stew tasted fresh and came complete with lots of soft tofu, chunks of onions, beef, shrimp, 1 clam, 1 mussel and a freshly-cracked egg yolk. Our waitress was not as attentive this time as 3 separate large parties arrived around the same time we did – thankfully we did not have to wait too long for our food.

Love their seafood pancake, crispy and thin with lots of squid in it ! Must try if you visit this restaurant. Not big fan on the grilled fish — it was a little bit too dry last time i had it.

I had been really craving real Korean bbq, and after looking at a couple of reviews of places in Shoreline, I decided on Green Garden. As the other reviews mentioned, the location was. well, you wouldn’t expect much by looking at the restaurant front. Anyway, I took 4 of my friends(2 guys 2 girls, all big eaters), we ordered 2 meat platters for the korean bbq, and a seafood pancake. The bill would’ve came up to be about 65 which is GREAT for Korean bbq. But of course we had a couple of beers… which made it come out to be about 115 including tip. When the food came out, I found the place to be very generous. Our waitress was awesome, and she was always ready to get something for us such as extra sauce or lettuce leaves or whatnot. We got a little bowl of peanuts to munch on, then we all got our bowls of rice followed by miso soup and a ton of side dishes! Next our waitress helped start the cooking on the grill and then we went ahead and took over the grill. Awesome! Yum! We left very full, I would definitely go again. The 2 meat platters and seafood pancake filled us up(plus the side stuff) and not to mention the beer. Everything was great!

I always pass this restaurant when I’m driving so I thought I would try it. Glad I did because the food was great! We started out with a huge Seafood pancake and I got the Beef Sol dot bibimbop in a stone pot. It was delicious, loaded with lots of vegies and generous slices of beef. I’m coming back again in a few weeks and I hope to try something new there.

We ended up here pretty much by mistake. We found ourselves in the neighborhood and, on a lark, I decided to finally try the Four Seasons restaurant that I heard about years and years ago which was supposedly the né plus ultra of Korean food up here in the North End. So I pull in and discover the Four Seasons is no longer there! Rather, there’s a place called Green Garden. So we figured, what the hay, here we are, let’s try them out. First and foremost, the food was quite good. I got the stir fried shrimp and vegetables, and my dining companion had a seafood noodle soup dish. Both were served very hot with the standard array of eight banchan(side dishes). One of the banchan deserves special mention, a type of potato salad that my dining companion insisted had an undertone of pumpkin. Personally I didn’t taste that nuance but I enjoyed the dish nonetheless. I love super-spicy foods, but this was not spicy at all; rather, it was creamy and immediately soothing to a palate overwhelmed by spice heat. A perfect accompaniment for a spicy main course, like mine was. Ordinarily I pay little attention to ambiance unless the place is super-deluxe expensive or is plainly just unjustifiably dirty, neither of which applies to Green Garden. However, for whatever reason I really didn’t care for the interior of this place. It was a little too dark and subdued and claustrophobic for my liking. A few vibrant colors or just having the blinds raised a bit to let in some sun would have helped on this score. Our server was polite and friendly and refilled our tea and water regularly. Overall, this seems to be a good, reliable joint for solid Korean fare. Three stars = A-OK.

The food was pretty delicious BUT it was SLOWWWW!!! I’ll still give it a four star rating though because it came with about eight banchan dishes and my stone pot bi bim bap was delectable! IT was also a huge portion so that was very nice. I’d definitely come back to try their barbecue plates because I hear they are bomb diggity. The prices are reasonable and they gave a lot of meat in the bowl which is rare in other Korean joints that I’ve been to. Come to think of it, I think there was only one lady serving all the tables at the time that we went so I forgive them for that.

A disclaimer: I probably shouldn’t write this review just yet. Not because I didn’t leave Green Garden stuffed with excellent Korean food, but because I was chaperoned by a friend who was in charge of ordering, negotiations and spoke Korean to the waitress the entire time and I’m not confident I can name our dishes, but fortune favors the bold. After expecting to go to Four Seasons and finding Green Garden in its place, we decided to take a chance anyway. I noted that it was mostly empty(and remained that way for the entire evening), and at first I had sticker shock on the menu and was thinking that was the explanation. $ 20/person for the mixed grill using the BBQ table in a tiny strip mall on Aurora in an economic downturn? Is this place a laundering front? Our chaperone reassured us, ordering two servings of the mixed grill, a spicy beef stew(~$ 9) and the seafood pancake appetizer(~$ 12) for a hungry group of four of us. Soon the food started arriving, and I’m not sure it ever really stopped. In fact, we might still not be done with it. Between what we ordered and the banchan, we left thoroughly full of spicy meat and vegetables. The pancake was a bit on the oily side, but everything else was deeply flavored. As our guide instructed us, wrapping the grilled meat in a radish slice or lettuce leaf with a bit of rice, bean paste and hot sauce is the only way. Going back to the $ 20 for the mixed grill, short of possibly Gavin N., I’m not sure anyone I know could or would try to one person’s worth of the mountain of meat alone. Korean dining is generally a vegan’s nightmare and Green Garden is no exception to the rule. I happened to work out and run directly before coming here, and I think I’d need to do that to take full advantage of this. I wouldn’t come here for two because there would be no reasonable way to do the mixed grill(minimum order is for 2), but I’d definitely be back for a vegetarian-free group dinner in the Shoreline area, Korean translator in tow.

I have been craving Korean food for months. Yes, months. After a botched attempt that resulted in bad Greek food(review pending), we just never revisited Korean food again until this past weekend. The reviews on Green Garden lead us to jumping into the car and rushing over(even though it was about 9p and they close at 11p). I had an image of where it was in my mind and then realized that it was this tiny strip across the street from Central Market/Sears on Aurora. Oh, okay it’s THAT place. But it’s since been fixed up. And it’s more like the bar next to it that’s all divey looking. Anyhoo, we come in and it’s clean, airy. There were only 2 other tables occupied. We were seated in a booth and looked over the menu. My hub was getting antsy because the little dishes of kimchee and whatnot were not given to us right away. He was convinced that we weren’t getting the dishes and that this place was terrible. I told him to be positive. lol Just in case though, we did order 3 veggie egg rolls for appetizer, and those came out fast along w/a dipping sauce. The eggrolls were HOT. hot hot oil oozed out when we bit and we were hungry so we couldn’t wait. Ahhh, scalded! We waited a bit more, it seems the family next to us ordered their BBQ platter. where you cook your own meat. It took some time to set them up and then they switched tables to the other side of the room where the tables had a cook top. After a while, we got our tiny dishes of kimchee and stuff! SEE? HA! I figured she was waiting until our entrees came out before the dishes were placed. We ordered steak and pork bibimbap in hot hot stone bowls. And they were good. Squirt some more mild, red sauce on when you need it and you’re eating a hot tasty meal until you get tired of it. After about a half hour of working on the bowl and the little dishes I gave up. There was just too much food. And my stone bowl was only hot by now. The bar next door started pumping their music extra loud and the lady apologized for it, which was nice but unnecessary. We paid at the register and stumbled to the car where we drove to Greenlake to try and walk/digest the food. In all, very tasty. Reasonably priced. One of these days I will do the thing where I cook my own meat. Clean. You will get your little dishes of stuff if you are patient. The bar next door is divey and loud. I wish they were a little busier though. The hub, who has been to Korea, said it was authentic too! :)

Ooooh! I am so glad to see so many positive reviews for Green Garden! I have eaten here several times and have had great service and fabulous food every time. For a gut-busting meal for two, or a perfect meal for three, go for the Millennium Meal: BBQ, spicy soup, bibimbap, fried fish, what??? But when you want to get all smoky and do some work, you’ll have a good time grilling the meat at the table. I once brought my entire family here for the great food and the cultural experience(most had never eaten Korean food before), and they loved it all. It was fun for my dad and brothers to grill, my mom loved the soups, and even my über-picky aunt found stuff to like. The concern I share with other Unilocalers is that they are never busy. They are tucked in a little old 3-stop strip mall off of 160th and Aurora. Every time I drive by and don’t go, my heart sinks a little in anticipation of seeing a «closed» or «for lease» sign. But it bounces right back up when I see it’s still survives. Eat here and tell your friends too!

We went after Unilocaling this place just wanted to note how great the barbecue was, and how ABSOLUTELY fabulous the service was. We got the combo barbecue thing, and were astounded by the amount of food. Way too much for 2 people! Everything was fresh and delicious. Not busy tho, and like the last post, that makes me sad!

I liked it. Food was plentiful and delicious. Reasonably priced. Dolsot Bimibop(hot stone bowl rice w/veggies and meat) was great. The place is clean. Service is good and friendly. There was no wait for a table. Food came quickly. You can bring your kids to this kid friendly place. They also have the BBQ tables where you cook the meat at your table. Free parking in front. Right under the pedestrian overpass and next to Shay’s. It was recently bought and remodeled by a new owner. Try it. I am updating this. Been a lot more times. Great food, everything I try. Get the seafood pancake. It tastes better than it sounds. The soups are good, too. I try to take some food home so I can eat it for lunch the next day. This place is a diamond in the rough.
