What a place! This joint is just south of Columbia City, it has great bar games. The Hummingbird is the perfect place to meet friends, play shuffleboard, pinball, vintage video games and other games, and enjoy tasty food and beverages. Happy hour from 4 to 6pm — the perfect opportunity to check the place out without fully committing. This isn’t a beer-crafted type of place. This is stiff drinks and hearty food. There is a «phone booth» in which you can duck to get a little quiet to use your cell phone, it is clearly owned by real people who are dedicated to the vision of the approachable neighborhood bar, there is a good happy hour, the owners are aware of vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free needs and are giving good options that satisfy those restrictions, and it is in position to stretch the«cool» part of Columbia City another block or so to the south. The bar is owned by the same southend locals who own Full Tilt Ice Cream, and it is located right next door in the same«transitioning» parking lot a smidge south of the heart of Columbia City.

I have been coming to Hummingbird Saloon for awhile now. I work in the hood and always try to stay local! This bar is my favorite out of all the Columbia city spots. Awesome staff, Steve and Phil are great! Food is amazing(served late too!), as well as the daily specials/alcohol. I love the nachos and hummus plate, and killer martinis. If you’re from the Southend you will likely see a familiar face, and you’ll definitely make some friends! I always recommend this place to newbies and veterans of the area alike. You’ll feel like a regular here in no time!

I often find myself in Columbia city. And, I end up here hanging, drinking hurricanes with my friends. This is the only place in Seattle that knows how to make proper Hurricanes. Yes, I stand by this statement and I dare you to find me a bar or bartender who knows how to make a true Hurricane in Seattle. The Hurricane is one of those iconic tropical cocktails that is actually quite easy to make. I found this place 2 years ago or so. I heard some guy who is from NOLA is opening a new bar and serves hurricanes. And, my long search to find a good hurricane in Seattle came to end when I stopped by here. The Hummingbird Saloon does this fun, oozing with fruit juices, rum-filled drink right! Pat O’Brien will be proud!

Love this place. This is the perfect kind of bar, saloon but not overly dive-y. Nachos are great, and the arcade/shuffleboard/chess is perfect for a low key neighborhood bar.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place! This was one of the first places I ate in Seattle and it’s still one of my favorites. After a break for no reason at all, we rediscovered this place last weekend. Why do I love this place? Multiple(delightful) cider options! They may not all be on the menu, but ask what they’ve got available. Why else? Pasties! I love that you can get a side salad, tots, and a pasty for under $ 15. They have dessert options too, but I’ve never tried them because Full Tilt is always calling my name. Now that it’s fresh in my mind, I expect to be revisiting again soon.

I’m in here at least once a week. Phil, Steve and Bridgett are all lovely people. Being gluten free there’s not a lot on the menu I’ve tried but there salads are fresh and delicious and drinks are always good. Everytime I come here I feel at home and it’s a great feeling. The humming bird is a wonderful place.

I’ve been living in Columbia City for a year and it took me 8 months to discover this place. I’m upset I didn’t go here earlier. They have two of my favorite pinball tables(Creature From The Black Lagoon and Royal Rumble), shuffle board, and pac man. Okay I won’t forget the giant chess board but I’ll be honest I’m an arcade girl. What better than a place walking distance, strong drinks, pub grub, and cool décor? It’s definitely a neighborhood bar.

Great place. I live in the area and its a kinda place I don’t mind going alone on a weekday after work. No TV which is a plus and fun bar games like pinball and shuffleboard. Also they are always supporting local artist so check out their walls when you go.

Just visited again! They have many cider options, but today I tried the Samuel Smith Organic Cider(ugh, I know, organic or bust)… it was delicious! Reminded me very much of the Ace apple cider! Check this place out for cider choices, giant chess, shuffle board, and delicious food!

Great local bar with shuffleboard, giant chess, and that cozy neighborhood feel. It always seems to have just the right amount of people in it so it has a fun vibe but it’s not so packed that you can’t get in on the shuffle board within a reasonable amount of time. Friendly service and Full Tilt ice cream and arcade games are right next door. I only rate four stairs over five because of the one time I ordered some late-night food here. You’d think tater tots would be hard to mess up but they were so bad that my boyfriend and I couldn’t finish them. That was a while ago though so maybe they’ve improved on food. Besides that, a nice spot to grab a beer and play table games with friends. A staple to the chill, Columbia City night life.

There’s no surprise here — I LOVE this place. The staff is amazing — they’re all super welcoming, down to earth people. They know what they’re talking about when it comes to making drinks or offering food suggestions. They have their own baker on staff to make the crust for the delicious pies — even offering ones that are vegetarian, vegan and/or gluten free. The drink specials are hard to rival, especially when they’re doing $ 5 martinis! Oh, and you have to try to spiked milkshake… Sooo good and so many ways to enjoy it with different liqueors floated over the top. This place really offers a community atmosphere and is sort of the unofficial service industry bar — meaning everyone goes there when they get off work. They’re open late and serve food just as late, which is totally awesome! There is something for everyone at this bar — definitely worth checking it out.

First off… This place has a giant chess /checkers board with giant pieces!. Nuff said?. . Lol. OK if not then the drinks are decent about 4 $-5 $ per and it’s open till super late.. . Also has arcade games and pinball.. . Didn’t have any food there.. But my friend who had it said it was good. I do plan on coming back to this place.. But for drinks and super cheap games.. .

Nice people serving and a pretty eclectic customer base. Divey vibe without being an actual dive. Nice space with some fun old school arcade games. Decent beer, though a bigger selection would be a bonus. They serve tater tots, which is nothing but win in my book. They will even make the nachos with tater tots instead of chips if you ask nicely. This place is sure to turn into my neighborhood haunt.

The bread and butter is fantastic. When it’s fresh. I’ve gone twice and one time it was just reheated and not as good. The drinks are great, would not suggest the cider since they only serve Ward’s. If you’re not familiar it’s gluten and taste free. I opted for a moscow mule the next round which was super strong and perfect for the day I had, had. It’s a pretty small place so it’s not great for crowds if you all want to sit with each other. They also don’t make a fuss about bringing in Full Tilt. :)

We love the Hummingbird Saloon… great drinks, great atmosphere, great food – my favorites are the Ribolita soup, anything with their homemade meatballs and the Italian sub… seriously, I find myself craving their food! Steve the bartender/co-owner is really down to earth and makes great cocktails. The jukebox has every song you can ask for… literally. The shuffleboard is addicting and you are always sure to bump into a neighbor here. Forgot to mention the veggie lasagna! Sooo good!

Local neighborhood bars are my jam. And I like the Hummingbird Saloon. I’ve been in for a drink before — not knowing until yesterday that they have $ 5 martini nights on Thursdays(each night has its own special theme!) Vodka neat and vodka martinis are just about the same thing to me, so Thursdays are a drink special I can get behind. The service is warm and friendly; I feel very comfy here, like I’m in a quiet bar scene of a movie set in a small town. I had dinner the other night and can say that it’s not to my taste, but that’s all right. I had the veggie pastie(it’s so hard to find a good pastie anyways) with rutabaga, carrots etc. The filling was soft, but. so was the bread. It was soft to the point that it fell apart which is not like a pastie. And the hearty bread element was lost as a result. The vegetable soup was very good, topped with a dollop of Daisy(sour cream). Here’s something that I know is not a taste thing: The tater tots were like plastic O_o Hard, completely unseasoned, and had that… generic brand tater tot taste-thing going on. I only had about 15 on my plate, but I could not put enough HP sauce on them to get them down. I’m not sure if it was how they were cooked that exacerbated the taste/texture. This is the first time we’ve ever had a bad tater tot. I also had the bread pudding. Again, I’m unsure if it was an off night but the bread pudding was rubbery and had very little flavor. I ate it, mostly because I was hungry from a game earlier. Great drinks, super-sweet service and the free shuffleboard are 3 great reasons to come down! A 4th reason is to come and listen to me screech as my shuffleboard puck careens off the table. My buddy says to stick to the first 3 reasons.

Friendly place with a true happy hour — $ 2.50 wells & $ 3 pints from 4−6pm. Hite bottles are always $ 2. Food is pretty good, we really enjoyed the nachos… but we’ll be going back regularly for dessert because the bread pudding is out of this world. They have a new outdoor seating area where well-behaved pups are welcome. Word on the street is they will soon be serving pints of Full Tilt ice cream…
