Great waxes and atmosphere

For the past couple years I’ve seen Erin for waxing (and love it!), and finally just got a facial from her — I wish I hadn’t waited this long! Not only is she amazingly skilled, but she is kind, calming, respectful, and incredibly easy and fun to talk with in whatever service she is providing. The facial was one of the best I’ve had. She is very good at what she does, and a great person too — highly recommended!

6 years and counting – I love The Wax Bar!
After having a blissful and perfect facial + eyebrow wax at The Wax Bar, it occurred to me that I should post a review. I have loved the services I have received at The Wax Bar for at least six+ years, and I am there about once a month (or every other). I have had lots and lots of good experiences at The Wax Bar and I plan to have more. My next appointment is in 4 weeks. :)
I followed by favorite esthetician Erin to The Wax Bar, when she transitioned from her previous employer. I feel dependent on Erin’s skills and knowledge to manage my aging skin. Erin knows her stuff, from technique to products, and she delivers this with a remarkable peacefulness that could lull me to sleep when she is doing extractions. I come away happy, relaxed; feeling pampered and walking away with beautiful skin. In addition, I have the products and information I need to maintain a bright, hydrated and look-​younger-​than-​my-​age appearance. Yay!
What makes The Wax Bar as a business stand out for me, in addition to all of the magic that Erin makes, are the other folks on staff Yes, it is so much fun to have a beer and a snack while relaxing in the sitting area, reading up-​to-​date magazines and perusing all of the great retail items. It’s far more important to me to have the quality customer service experience over the phone when scheduling my appointment, and in person when I am arriving for my session. Becky is my favorite voice to hear and face to see. I was at The Wax Bar in West Seattle for the majority of the previous year, and Becky still recognized by voice, greeted me by name and sorted out my scheduling for my appointment as if I had been there just yesterday. Love that – kinda makes me feel important.
Erin is my ace and number one choice, but she hasn’t been my only esthetician at The Wax Bar. I have also had great facials from Georgina in the West Seattle Wax Bar location. It’s nice to know that I have the options for my schedule and that I can also expect a consistent level of service quality. When my schedule doesn’t align with Erin in Ballard, I know that I can still carry on with all these good looks (*smile*) by visiting Georgina.

I’ve always feared a Brazilian, but those days are gone. Thank you Karen for making me face my fear! Love this place.

Canceled my appt 15 min before it was supposed to start. By that point I was already almost there, had moved meetings, set up dog sitting, sent my husband to work separately so had to pay more for parking. Made no attempt to remedy except to reschedule which wasn’t an option.

I only sugar, so I came in for brow and lash tinting.
I loved my practitioner and also the promptness of the front desk secretary. I was able to book last minute and I really appreciated not being treated like a sack of potatoes, like some nice spas do, when you book a service last minute.
I look forward to coming in again when I need a tune up!
I also look forward to one of their lovely facials. The practitioner I spoke to didn’t try to sell me any services, but gave me some good pointers and knowledgeable insights about self care. I look forward to visiting them again soon.

Quick and easy scheduling, nice space. Prices are high for waxing certain areas, but I like the people here so I go back.

Over the years I’ve tried several aestheticians for eyebrow and bikini waxes, but since I’ve found Wax Bar my search is over. I’ve seen Deb & Kate and they’re both great! The online booking is pretty seamless and will provide text reminders, too!

Erin is amazing. She’s been doing my brows for almost 10 years. It’s not infrequent that a stranger will stop me on the street and comment on how lovely my brows are.

I have never really had a set place to get my eyebrows waxed. I went here in October for the first time at the end of the day and first of all, $ 2 beer. Second of all, holy cow my eyebrows are actually perfect! I’m a licensed esthetician so I’ve had my brows done a million ways by a million people and I just can’t go anywhere else but here now. Every girl I’ve had has just done the most consistent and beautiful job. I actually look forward to going every few weeks! I feel like a million bucks and I get compliments all the time. I’ve seen Deb, Kate and Erin and all are just brilliant at what they do. Highly, highly recommend!

Deb hands down is my favorite at this salon. She makes my incredibly disgusting eyebrows looks like a million bucks. For the 15 minutes it takes it is always been such a pleasant experience and the ladies up front are such dolls too. I always come to my appointments a little early because they also have a great little boutique full of fun rings, bags, and scarfs.
I love this place and will never let anyone else touch my brows ever again!

Fantastic, every time!!! Deb is the best for eyebrows. Everyone is awesome and you get taken care of.

An update, simply to say that 2 years later, I am still a Wax Bar Evangelist. Hats off to sweet Marielle in West Seattle, who I no longer see because Ballard is just more convenient now, but would recommend highly. Karen, the owner who still waxes in Ballard, is always a rock star and can do a Brazilian in record time. Sara is an eyebrow goddess. Truly.
You really can’t go wrong here. These gals are top-​notch.

Karen and staff are always at their game. Boutiquish with that neighborhood feel. I always walk out satisfied every time for my skin care needs. I give this place 6 stars! You really should try it if you haven’t. Great gifts and beverages on hand too.

I’ve been going to Deb for a while now and I love her. She’s fast and efficient. What more could you ask for? The wax bar itself is super cute. They have great cards and accessories, it’s hard to walk out of there with just a wax. Plus, alcohol… yay!

I’ve been twice now, with two different ladies. Quick waxing, very thorough, friendly gals, AND some really surprising deals on accessories out in the lobby. Oh, and the drinks! Better-​than-​happy-​hour pricing on the beer. Sit and relax, get yourself waxed, then buy a pretty scarf. It’s like a dream.

Having the hair ripped out of your nether regions can never really be a 5 star experience now, can it? Taking care of the lady parts and keeping all areas well groomed for ourselves and our admirers is something most women do begrudgingly, myself included. But dare I say I’ve started to enjoy my regular visits to the Wax Bar, where Melissa attends to my nether needs. I have been getting Brazilians for a few years now and have tried sugaring, hot wax and cold wax. Melissa uses a combination of cold and hot wax and is well-​skilled in the art of friendly chatter while simultaneously professionally taking it all off. She’s a master. The salon is welcoming, clean and every visit has been as pleasant as can be under the circumstances. If you’re looking for a place you can trust with your tender vajayjay, this is it!

I had a horrible experience getting my eyebrows waxed this afternoon.
Although the woman who waxed my eyebrows was friendly, I left the salon in tears.
The entire top layer of skin below my eyebrows, on my upper eyelids and in between my eyebrows was completely ripped off. I was left with raw, burning skin AND I am leaving for Hawaii tomorrow.
When I tried to explain that I was in pain and that they had made a mistake, I was told that the ripped skin was likely due to the facial products I use or the «oral medications» I take. However, I have been using the same face wash for several years (and have never had any waxing issues) and I do not take any oral medications or use topical medication.
It is clear that the damage done to my skin was a result of poor training and lack of attention to detail.
Although they refunded me the cost, I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning to The Wax Bar in Ballard.

I love this place. Although I’ll say I’ve only had my brows done here by Deb — she is phenomenal. They always look so polished and fresh, and people definitely notice when I’ve had them done!
I love their easy online schedule system — it’s welcomed by those of us who are too busy to call and figure out appointments.
As soon as I’m done with this pregnancy, I’ll try a bikini wax or something else, but for now the eyebrows are all I can take. They only get 4 stars because they are a little pricey, but they do offer discounts for maintenance.
Oh… and there’s a BAR. Enough said.

I gotta be honest… I used to be someone who bargain eyebrow-​wax shopped until I came across The Wax Bar in Ballard. First, it’s got a super chic décor that’s bright and classy, fun items for sale, and alcohol available for purchase.
But what’s important is the wax job. It’s fantastic, the facility is so clean, and I’ve never had such a clean, thoughtful wax done before. Kate is efficient, and she always does such a great job. My only complaint is my skin seems to get more irritated with the wax used than any other I have had before, but it goes away quickly.
