Love this salon. I see Andrea who is awesome. She has colored, highlighted and cut my hair and I couldn’t be happier. I usually have problems after hair color but Whatever brand they use doesn’t bother me and Andrea shampoos me extra long to ensure no residue remains. The salon is quaint and comfy and I love the products they use. I was very tired of aveda salons whose products don’t work well for me. Definitely check this salon out!

I’ve been getting my hair cut for a while by Ann Marie and she has always been very thoughtful in her approach. Not just same as last time… but rather how did that work out? Or would you like to try this? Much more caring than your average stylist and a great personality to boot. So glad she has started working out of this great new space and glad to have a reliable and attentive stylist.

The 5 stars are for Eric at Tonic Salon. He is AWESOME!!! I was lucky enough to have a friend who is his regular and she finally let me in on her secret stylist. He was very quick to respond via phone and email when scheduling my appt.(Note: he only works Th, Fri, Sat). The actual salon is really nice and clean… really cool and calm atmosphere. But back to Eric… he was super attentive to what I wanted and was extremely patient in understanding my needs. For the actual cutting/styling — he was a perfectionist about it. It was awesome! He made sure every last strand of hair was cut perfectly. He even finished my hair off with an awesome style since I told him I was going out later that night. He is more than reasonably-priced, very talented, and super friendly. I will definitely be going back to him and so excited to have a regular stylist!!!

Andrea is fantastic! I’ve been going to her for years and have followed her from her previous salons. So excited that she has opened up the fabulous Tonic salon. My cuts and colors have always been stellar and its always a fun time to chat with Andrea and catch up during the appointment. My most recent cut has received too many compliments to count. Thanks Andrea!

I left two messages to schedule an appointment at Tonic, and nobody bothered to call me back. I really wanted to give my business to a local salon just blocks from my house, but now I will give Tonic a big no thank you.

I can only critique Eric at Tonic Salon, who is so freaking patient with my unruly mane. I’d give this man 10 stars for the time and effort he puts into trimming, sometimes thinning out, AND flat ironing my thick and curly hair. I was at first leery about having someone who doesn’t have African-American hair touch mine because as everyone who has our hair knows, not just anybody can work with this hair and not make it a hot mess. I’ve been going to Eric for at least 3 years, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else other than him to wash, chop off, and flat iron my(sometimes) nest of mess. The products used here actually work at taming my hair and I always walk out feeling so good that my hair was cut and/or thinned right and looking healthy. Prices are pretty good for a cut and thankfully, I haven’t needed coloring services yet. But when I do, I’m sure I’ll be coming here to add that on my service list.

Emiko is the bomb-dot-com. She whipped my fried hair into shape and I now regularly get compliments from my friends and co-workers about my cute new ‘do. This is my first styling experience in my 36 years that actually made me feel better about myself instead of running home feeling self-concious, or worse, crying. Emiko KNOWS curly hair. I was referred to her by another curly girl and then I referred my mom(who is super picky!) and we all love her to bits.

Andrea is delightful! I’ve been having my hair cut with her for several years and was thrilled when she opened up her own shop in the Bryant neighborhood. Though the experience is always top notch – I look forward to a little bit of relaxation every 6 – 8 weeks – you won’t have to pay top notch prices. I appreciate that I can get a beautiful hair cut at Tonic that makes me feel like a million bucks, but for a much more realistic price!

Christina gives the best short hair cut– something that is suprisingly hard to find for a woman. She always makes me feel great, and look better. Love her! Always calls to remind me of an appointment and never gets upset when I cancel or postpone. Would not consider going to anyone else.

If you’re looking for a great haircut or color with a fun and down to earth professional, ask for Emiko at Tonic Salon. I have worked with her on several occasions now, and she has done an amazing job with my hair. My most recent adventure with Emiko was to put neon orange chunks in my hair for a festival at the end of summer. I came in with no idea how to make orange chunks look dramatic yet professional on a head of hair, but I walked out of there beaming! Quite literally. She did such a great job that I can part my hair to one side and cover them up a bit for work, so I have been able to keep my crazy hair in the real world too! She even recommended some great, affordable sun protection for my new hair and the color has lasted great! TWO months later! I have sent friends to her and all have been very excited with the results. I would absolutely recommend Emiko to anyone who would like to feel completely taken care of with their hair needs, whether it be a bang trim of full color! She’s awesome!

Christina did an excellent job cutting my hair. It had been years since I had my hair cut by a professional and this was top knotch. First off kudos to the owner for making her salon as green as she can. I am pretty sure all their products used are organic and no animal testing was conducted. Also instead of paper towels the have little cotton ones for you to use in the bathroom. I had bad chlorine in my hair and Christina washed it out for me twice! It was a lovely experience and parking was easy, just around the corner.

You must must MUST ask for Marzi. Seriously, the best haircut you’ll ever get in your life. I live in San Diego and she used to be my hairdresser here — you guys are totally lucky to have her now. She still comes back here occasionally and graces me with her artistry. I am terrified to try someone else. I went to NYC for a year and tried three different(very expensive) salons and they just really screwed my hair up. Three hours with Marzi and my hair looked a zillion times better(yes, I have high maintenance hair… triple process color, lots of layers, impending color resistant gray). She just moved over to Tonic so show her some love.

About a year and a half ago, I had my first haircut from Christina. She helped tame my fly-away-hair into a more presentable cut, and hasn’t steered me wrong since. She’s actually the reason that I started going to Tonic… when she changed salons, I went with her. Christina’s friendly, easy to talk to, and she knows her hair.

I’ve been going to Andrea for years now. She’s opened up her own shop down the street from U Village. She’s friendly, flexible and most importantly very tuned in to the most up-to-date hair styles. It’s a relaxing, hanging out with friends environment that always has a complimentary coffee, diet coke or, in the evening, a glass of wine. She let’s me slip in for free bang trims in between cuts and runs the business with top quality customer service. Highly recommend!
